johnc 724
The main reason folks started using 5/8 bolts DECADES ago was to fit .625" ID rod ends on the tubular or modified stock LCAs. If you are not using rod ends and/or not racing, there's no benefit from using a 5/8 bolt in place of the spindle pin, IMHO.
SUNNY Z 12
The main reason folks started using 5/8 bolts DECADES ago was to fit .625" ID rod ends on the tubular or modified stock LCAs. If you are not using rod ends and/or not racing, there's not benefit from using a 5/8 bolt in place of the spindle pin, OTHER THAN maintaining your sanity should a spindle pin decide it wants to stay in its home. johnc 724
I've probably removed 40+ spindle pins. I'm still sane - at least in my own reality.
RebekahsZ 106
Yeah, you were getting paid. Insanity is doing miserable shift for free!
hwvigo 1
We now have a finshed the finshed product a 5/8 bolt with lock pin slot! Edited March 13, 2014 by hwvigo
RebekahsZ 106
hwvigo-the pins arrived today. Perfect! Next time I pull spindle pins (no time soon I hope), your bolts are going in. Thanks so much for making that happen.
hwvigo 1
No problem Keith glad to have a little something I made on your car. Mine are going in this week I hope.
Stock Car Mafia 1
I'm just curious how these bolts are working? I will be probably buying the bolts here in the next few days in preparation for reassembly.
seattlejester 32
Just an FYI that seems obvious in retrospect, this is for a stock LCA. If you are running rod ends this bolt will be too long by about two inches. If anyone needs a set hit me up.
thumper300zx 0
Hey all -- sorry to revive an old thread... So, since Spindle Pins now seem to be about $40+ per pin -- the aftermarket option is looking REALLY attractive. I had to get mine pressed out and they are ruined. Looking for replacements. Street car, but have barely driven it. hwvigo, do you sell these with a slot mod?
walkerbk 6
I have 5/8" bolts in mine and have been drag racing it. No problems. I have also pulled them and checked after about 5k miles and they had no marks.
73z85.0 0
Walker, Do you have yours notched or just bolt / locking nut?
mtnickel 17
I ran mine for a few street seasons. No problems. I ran a nylon lock nut, and added a regular jam nut just to be safe. No problems.
walkerbk 6
Sorry. It's been a while. I do not have mine notched, I check them for torque every 10k miles or so and no problems. I also have poly bushing if that changes anything.
