Zfan1
Congratulations, that's hauling ass in a little 240Z.
RebekahsZ
Thanks, fellas. Rebekah will be home this weekend. Maybe she can help me publish the videos. I'm still exhausted from the past month's garage thrash getting ready. Shop is a mess!
texis30O
I am using Will Fritts' 8.8 swap. I put a Ford Motorsport LDS unit in there with the carbon clutches and a 3.55 gear set....... It is holding good so far. I try to beat on it every time I am out in the car.....
RebekahsZ
Ok, I get it: you didn't break an axle, one just fell off the car due to hardware backing out. Hmmm, was it one of the 6 long bolts that go thru the CV? When you put it back together, did you safety wire or use Loctite? It was all the hardware that scared me off the Wolf Creek axles. Even though it is likely less robust, the Z31 axle only requires that I keep up with 4 bolts.
m1noel
Great job and congrats Keith. Been fun watching you build this beast.
alainburon
Keith, I was going to stop by your place as I mentioned but a change of plans in my project has diverted me to Abiline,TX instead of coming home from Murfreesboro,TN as I planned. Next time I'm in the area I will let you know and if you are ever in Houston give me a call. There a few fast Z cars around here we can go look at. Congratulations on your runs man. RebekahsZ
M1noel-you and I have exactly the same power plants. So, you have a 174mph car I your garage too! It was your build that I copied and learned so much from. Alainburon-maybe I will have this shop done by the time we can get together. My next event is ZCON Memphis Jul14-18. Not counting the commute to work tomorrow. Wish my professionally swapped truck was as reliable as my Z. The remote bleeder sprung a leak in the middle of the line. Betting swap guy sold me a used part that had either been pinched in the past or cooked on a header in the past.
RebekahsZ
Pics. I included some dream cars. Also you will see a couple of different rakes and ride heights, splitter on and splitter cut off and re-glasses at the track. I had my brother and some buddies come up and lend a big hand. What a fun time-more forum members need to come and join me next year. You can run "time only" up to 135 with an unprepared street car with only a closed face helmet (and I will let you borrow mine). Watch ecta-lsr.com for next years dates-I hope to return for the June 2016 meet. There will be a 1/2-mile event in July of this year and a 1-mile meet in Sep, so come on out and sign up! RebekahsZ
Lifts arriving for the shop today. I haven't been this nervous since proposing to my wife!
Richard Oben
I have had a lift for more than 10 years, I can not imagine working on cars without one. Heck, I put the car on the lift to clean it, so I do not have to bend down to clean the rocker panels. You are going to love having a lift. Richard. RebekahsZ
Whenever I open my shop door, it is like I hear a choir of angels singing! Violins, trumpets and oboes! Sunday, we popped the motor out of my new 75 280z in 2-1/2 hours start-to-finish. We cheated like crazy since shipping is so high, I had no aspirations of selling any of the part-out. So, we cut the driveshaft in half to avoid fighting the rear crossmember/sway bar. We cut off the front of the driveshaft to be able to use the slip yoke as a plug to avoid spilling oil all over the floor. We are giving the engine/tranny away, and all the hoses were really shot, so we just cut them. I don't like to hack wires, but the fuel injection harness had no connector to detach, so that got the hedge trimmer treatment. When we had the engine too level and couldn't get it over the radiator support or under the tranny tunnel, we just put the front wheels of the car on the floor and put my lift arms under the seatbelt wells and hoisted her up! That tipped the car-INSTEAD OF THE ENGINE! I mean, crazy, yeah? I've had to go the the ER several times this week because they say that if you have an erection for more than 4 hours, you should consult your physician-well I've had a boner steady since the lifts arrived!
