David K
The fires are 100 miles away from our place in Long Beach, CA. I used to live out in San Bernardino, i know how bad this is by calling the hybridz member 'pipelayer' and him describing when he is saying from his house. Well we made the mistake of going to bed with the window fans going full blast last night. While we were sleeping, the smoke came back and now the entire house smells horrible!!! There is THICK soot right outside the door, and everything in downtown is covered in it! My lungs are wacky right now, ive been in the inhaler all day yesterday and im pufing right now! Puff, puff, give.....The sky is blood red again today.....hows it looking elsewhere guys and gals? The devastation is HORRIBLE! 50-60-70 MPH winds....Cajon pass is the WORST place to have any kind of fire. 100ft+ flames.......it wont end until the winds do, and sadly....the Santa Ana winds dont go away so easily. LOTS of homes, gone....a whole housing tract just vanished down to the ground.....the flames are licking over 4-5-6 lane hwys with ease....damn this is bad. Tim240z
Yeah, last I heard 200+ homes are down to the foundations. It looks completely surreal...like the opening scenes inthe original terminator movie!! I bet you can pick up property in San Bernardino area for cheap!! (sorry, that's not funny).... The 'FireStorms' look absolutely amazing... a weather system all unto themselves.. Tim

David K
I took this yesterday while driving through Westminster. Its a major metro city! Keep in mind, the skys are usually blue and sunny down in Orange County, (where the tv show OC is based), and the sky is red now! I gotta go out today, ill take pics of my Z in the driveway and the sky, sun, etc. Its surreal like Tim said. Look at the suns reflection on the Accord in front of me. auxilary
I've been thinking. This fire is probably Gray Davis's fault. Let's recall the fire!
Tim240z
The fire was a result of arson (at least two of them). It could well have been the ELF (Earth Liberation Front).... Tim
auxilary
Those guys (ELF) are a bunch of f#cktards. Seriously, they contract themselves in everything they do. Burning LA area? Yeah, that REALLY liberates earth. I always wondered where those morons sleep at night. I'm pretty certain they don't camp out in nature. Someone should organize an Earth Liberation Front Termination Squad
Guest zfan
Guy's, be careful and sleep light if your anywhere near those fires as I have heard 11 dead and 500 plus homes lost . When the winds blows there no telling whats going to happen. Mike
JMortensen
Congrats to Aux for sucessfully using "f#cktards" in a sentence. I lived in Agoura Hills and watched the Malibu fire start about 1/4 mile from where I worked in what was that '95? It's just crazy how those winds can whip a fire. When the Malibu fire started there was a streak of burnt brush not more than 50 yards wide that went straight from the 101 towards the beach. It went as far as we could see from Lost Hills Rd into the canyons and out of sight in about 1 hour or so. Once it got into the canyons, that's when the firestorms started and all hell broke loose. If you live in the area and they tell you to evacuate, get the hell out. It gets crazy when the fire makes the wind that fuels the fire. Good luck CA, Jon

Tim240z
Ya know...if you want to live in a flood plain.....expect to get flooded, if you want to live in hurricane country....expect to get blown around.....if you want to live in amongst dry trees and brush in CA, expect to get burned....I don't think that there is one place on this Earth that there isn't a safe place . I'm glad I live near the coast....all I have to worry about is the next big quake! That is a very cool picture from above!! Check out the thermal infrared: Tim
dsommer
Truly an astounding sight to behold, my heart goes out to all of those who have lost loved ones and property due to this horrible phenomenon. On the radio this a.m. this arse wipe was saying something about CA being on fire because all of the sin out west, too bad I couldn't call in... Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Perhaps he should look to his own backyard before attempting to condemn a geographic area of the U.S. The show went on to say that this could be the work of terrorist, oh come on now..., they’ll say anything to get a rise out of the folks around here. d
