R200 LSD on Ebay

You will need an R200 mustache bar if you don't already have one, the front companion flange or yoke from a R200 out of a 280, and the adapters from http://www.modern-motorsports.com. The diff rear cover with the fins won't fit with the existing transverse link, so you'll need to either make a new link that goes around the cover or you could swap the cover off of an R200 without the fins.

That's all I can think of. If you have an R200 already then you just swap the companion flange and the rear cover and it is then a bolt in with the adapters from MM.

I've got several Q45 R200 VLSDs and inner CV sets. The only advantage to the eBay auction posted is that the outer CVs are four bolt and the axles are there (may or may not need length altered) which might make for an easier swap. The Q45 has six bolts, needs adapters (for earlier Zs), has lower ratio (3.54:1 vs. 3.70:1). Yes, moustache bar needs redrilling (couple of good bits, thread cutting oil and a drill press), rear transverse lower brace needs altering if using 'finned' cover, and axles need to be ordered.

I'm 'watching' the auction just to get a gauge as to the 'market' for my surplus diffs. Good luck though, I really think that it is a worthwhile upgrade.

edit: Actually, after going back and looking at the unit more closely, it seems that the eBay unit is the smaller case diff, which would likely make the swap much closer to bolt-in. I still believe that the Q45/300ZXTT diffs are MUCH more stout.

Hey guys, I'm new to this sort of thing but was interested in your chatter on the LSD conversion.

I have a '73 240 convertible with a 350 V8 and recently aquired an LSD from an '88 300ZX turbo. Anyone know what needs to be done to install it in the 240?

Any info or direction to some info would be gratly appreciated.
