Mikelly
So I just got word that my two stepson's best friend was killed in a car accident this morning... Young man just out of college, heading off to his first month working for a new company... Apparently the boy fell asleep behind the wheel and lost a battle with a semi... This young man was best friends with my 17 year old and my 20 year old... They were inseperable... Gonna be a rough week... I've got court tomorrow for reckless driving, the 17 year old has court on Wednesday for reckless driving, and now the loss of the two sons best friend... If you've got kids, give them a hug... blueovalz
One of my good friends had the exact same thing happen to him (he can tell you exactly how many years, months, and days since it happened on any day you ask him) a few years back. Sad, very sad as it has changed their (his and his wife) lives in the worst way.

Guest JAMIE T
That's a hit Mike. Sorry to hear about that. Tough times are certainly ahead. They'll need as much support as you and Donna can give. Good luck.
VRJoe
Sorry to hear about it Mike. Good luck in court, and tell the boys to look at the time they had with him as a gift, not a loss. Tell them to remember the gift whenever they feel the loss. - Joe

Mikelly
More details coming to light... the truck Steven ended up under had run the stopsign and Steven was not at fault, and did not fall asleep as was initially the rumor... Driver of the truck is 21 years old and does NOT have a CDL license to drive the truck he was in. Charges have been filed. My reckless driving ticket was due to me spinning tires in second gear while making a left hand turn at an intersection. It was probably improper driving, but not reckless... I'm going in to plead not guilty and roll the dice... On the ONE UP NOTE from this start to this week, I've got a guy who is buying my ZX9R Ninja this week... He just paypal'ed me the deposit and he is relatively local! Mike
dot
If you've got kids' date=' give them a hug... Mike[/quote'] I feel your pain Mike. It’s a sobering experience for the kids. We had that happen last month. Drove his Honda through a bus shelter and hit the post behind. The kid used to hang around the house when I was doing the single dad thing. I ironed his pants for the prom. Then he had the nerve to call me Mr. Mom. We are gonna miss him.
Vintage-TechZ
It doesen't matter WHO was at fault, a loss of life like that steals time away from the living of others and is worse than any robbery or tresspass ! Accidents like these are.....at best ,sobbering.Mike I hope that when your boys are alone in heart or missing their friend.....you remind them to focus on the best of this person and find a jewel moment to laugh about .These are the things that make you pull though it. I wish someone would have told me this after I lost Greta in her crash to a kid driving with his knees'. The last time I got a C & I Mike was at 16 ! The insurance rate was a mother for 7 years after that. You guys be careful.........pay attention Damn it ! .........Vinny 8)
ZHeadV8
Mike, Sorry to hear about the tragedy of your boys' friend - waste of a good life. I have even more sympathy for his parents, they will be going through my worst nightmare right now. Never seems fair. Your step sons are going to need you over the coming weeks and months. I cannot believe in the US you get WRECKLESS DRIVING for spinning a tyre ???? that is nanny state over the top stuff. Small consolation but you have an online community rooting for you and most people on here will be there if you need anything. As we say over here "chin up old boy"
