DavyZ
everything done to this vehicle and engine is done by me in my garage and all rebuilt from top bottom thanks to all you helpful peeps. That's very impressive. The transmission rebuild is even more so---I find them more of an enigma than wiring! I agree with Bartman that the install looks great. Is this up and running now? 240zV8
poor old L6 now lies on the floor, lol. Oh well! time to go put a grin on ur face with ur foot to the floor. When i think about a big 350 in a little Z, it makes me smile, lol. My truck with a 350 is powerful but not fast, and I imagine taking 3+ thousand pounds off the truck and thats the Z...lol, it's gotta fly. piston
i havent gotton a chance to fired it up yet, i still have to hook up a couple more wires and still waiting to pick up my trans mount. picking it up this weekend. its getting to cold around here to be in the garage after work. although i did crank it without fuel to see if itll turn and it does. man, it rumbles real nice when i crank it. im still hoping all the wiring is done correctly. i spent so much time into this to make everything nice and clean. it should fire right up. i just need my trans mount and add fuel and croos fingers. piston
im suprised at how everything looks. ive been working on this for almost a year now. the headers are ebay stuff for now. there the regular block huggers on ebay. im just using it for now, im going to go single turbo in time but i just need to get the thing running real nice first for now and able drive around. the t56 build was pretty tuff, but way easier to me then doing the harness. i have way more pics i would like to show you guys but still learning to resize them to have enough room for more pics in my file. i have plenty of interesting pics for new hybrid commers. gvincent
Hey Piston, Nice Work! I am going tomorrow night to look at a 1996 LT1 with 60K with harness and ECU for $400. I figure I can't go go wrong for that price. I wanted an F body LT1/T56 combo but they are hard to find in the New England area for reasonable money. I still have to locate a T56 and will need a flywheel and clutch as well I guess. I am pulling the L6 this weekend if I get the time I am hopping for, Going to be wicked cold out though. With the Caprice LT1 what cam be done for relatively cheap money to this motor and where would you start? Cam, lifters, roller rockers? or look for aluminum heads and then cam lifters, roller rockers etc. I need headers for straight plugs for the Iron head VS angled plugs for the aluminum? Did you document your wiring harness by any chance? Thanks, Greg
deja
Looking good, congrats. Its amazing how "at home" that LT1 looks in a Z. I am pulling my donor LT1 engine/tranny this weekend and probably the engine will come out of my Z in a week or so.
Z48LT-1
Piston, Neat and tidy engine compartment! It appears you kept the Caprice PCM location? Front/driver's side? What's your approach to PCM programming? Crossing fingers here for your first startup! Cheers -- Gary
piston
yeah i kept the stock location...the pcm wasprogramed by pcmamerica. hes a cool guy and did a good job for 150.00 i think it was..i fired it up already ad it sounds sick..the t56 went bad though i believe...
