Guest Death69
maybe repost.
veritech-z
Can't say as I'd ever seen that one before, I kind of thought this would be about the Monza Mystery Z or maybe that black skyline powered AWD 240z. I'm really curious to see more of this car, it looked pretty stout.
JustinOlson
Here's another video of the same car: I'd like to know what the transmission setup that car is running.
JSM
I know it is a hybrid but that wing has got to go.
zero
There was a post about this car somewhere else on the forum a while back. From what I remember it was running a complete chevy truck frame and drivetrain with a chevy v8, he bolted the Z body on to that I believe. ZDrifter
That would make sense, using the 2+2 body.....
OlderThanMe
So it has solid axles??? I'd like to see the underside of that car. I'll go look around on some of the UK websites. I don't remember the part about the chevy frame though.
The Woj
I'll go look around on some of the UK websites. You might want to try Aussie websites. From the description on the first video: 4WD V8 Chev Datsun 260Z at the Mt Leura Hillclimb on 20/5/07. Was run at Camperdown, Victoria, Australia, and was a round of the state hillclimb championship. v80z
Can anyone from down under get the specifications on this car? Thanks Joe

CArFAn
It think it uses a modified drivetrain from a awd truck.
Guest TeamNissan
Ya, I'm pretty sure its a v8 s10 but I bumped it to see if anyone had found anymore info.
260DET
Nissan truck 4WD drivetrain (Patrol?) with a Chev V8 donk I've heard, some say its a Nascar engine. A hillclimb specialist its pretty well the fastest closed car around, beats a lot of open wheelers too. Wing would be functional. Can't be more definate in the details, lots of contary intrawebs type info around on it
Challenger
That would make sense, using the 2+2 body..... Ha, ha, ha..........
Lunar240z
That would make sense, using the 2+2 body..... yea. nobody would want to steal it i guess.

OlderThanMe
Dual R200 diffs and a Hilux transfer case... link found here on another thread here on HybridZ: http://forums.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67224281 "NERO" said in the link: OK, Kevin's car. It now has 880bhp nascar 6lt Chev engine, manual's auto 4spd 5000 stall (so no clutch and expensive manual and less time lost in gear changes), Toyota Hilux transfer case, R200 diffs with LSD's front and rear, Proflex suspension, 11" slicks all round. Faster than any WRX/EVO yet encountered. Massively fast in the wet. Has won the last Mt Gambier event outright, Aust champion in hillclimbs in class last 3 years another post from "NERO": It's continually developing, as most cars that are actually used regularly do. Kevin was thinking of a spaceframe/FG body car to get rid of 150kg of weight. I don't think sandown would be that good for it...it would be good at winton, esp in the wet. Back to my thoughts: just looking at it... the aerodynamic modifications look quite effective for a low speed rally car.
Guest TeamNissan
Nice find otm I guess thats that on what it is. I cant believe with the times its posted so many in that forum have the balls to rag on it. It could be neon pink with a dildo for a hood ornament. With the times that thing is running as a complete car? who cares lol.
OlderThanMe
To me it looks like it still has IRS in the rear...specifically, tubular control arms. Look at this pic: http://forums.performanceforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=839951303&postcount=18 Notice rear wheel camber change at launch in this video: definitely not a truck frame. I believe the statements "NERO" made.
OlderThanMe
So to build a monster like this... I'm guessing you would get a front diff from a nissan pickup(as in picture) some kind of center differential/transfer case, and the same ring and pinion gears front and back. When did Nissan put a R200 up front in the pickups? I'm guessing current Frontiers have them? The attached pic is a 1990 pickup diff. (R180?) Answered my own question front diff writeup on nico club. "C200 and R200A [short nose] gears ARE INTERCHANGEABLE. Yes, the same part numbers are used for the same ratios in the Nismo catalog for both diffs." C200 is just the rear diff in the solid axle. That brings the question if a C200 ring and pinion can be used in a R200 short nose to bolt in the back of a Z... Hmm... easily matched OE diff ratios!
