proxlamus©
I got what I paid for.. the PLASTIC yes plastic rivets on the wheels are falling off. After an eventful day on the track and super heating my brakes.. the damn rivets melted and flew off the damn wheel. I will get pics later.. but I am missing about.. ohh more than HALF of my rivets on the front wheels Great for daily driving and drag racing.. but road racing or autox effs them up. great
OlderThanMe
Time to go to diamond racing wheels.... About the same price but steel. They won't come apart on you as they are meant for NASCAR and other such racing types. What do the plastic rivets hold? Hopefully not the center section to the rim... Sorry about this problem... 91_4x4runner
Wow. That sucks pretty bad. I wonder if Sport Max will do anything for you (replacement)?
wigenOut-S30
Dang Ryan that does really suck.. one would think.. a WHEEL would not start coming apart like that.. Thats just dangerious.. LAW suite.. if one had come apart and wrecked your car because of it.. Are the rivits cosmetic? or do they actually hold any part of the wheel togeather? Warren
Cosmetics, nothing a little superglue won't take care of if you can get new ones.
JMortensen
Cosmetics, nothing a little superglue won't take care of if you can get new ones. Exactly. These rivets are not actually holding the wheels together. Taking them all out is the other answer.
naviathan
Exactly. These rivets are not actually holding the wheels together. Taking them all out is the other answer. That was my thought. They're nice wheels for what you pay for them. If it's really bothersome I'm sure you can find some replacements rather cheap or even find some nice small 12 point bolts that will fit the holes if you tap them. proxlamus©
they are purely cosmetic.. so no issues. Ill try calling Primax and see what they can do. Superglue or not.. the plastic would melt and deform due to the heat of those brakes. thats my concern
cygnusx1
I guess Ill put the slicks on the Panasports then... still, for the money they are nice and you can replace the rivets with stainless button head allens it you have the patience. Thanks for the heads up.
proxlamus©
they are supposed to call me back shortly.. the sales manager at sportmax is sourcing them down. I could do that... but why.. i paid money and in less than a year the wheels fall apart. I hope they send me some free ones

I think the design changed on the 16x8's midway through production. Half of mine are the newer design and the others are the older ones. Ill try to get pictures posted up on it. proxlamus©
Sportmax called me back They cant do a damn thing.. all they said was sorry and good luck. They get the wheels from Asia (somewhere) and have no source for the rivets
Sparks280zt
Yea they changed the rivet design. On the newer ones you can put JB weld on the back and that should hold up until 400 degrees.
cygnusx1
Tap and bolt. I say.
proxlamus©
there are 24 rivets per wheel.. thats about 100 freaking stainless steel bolts and 100 taps I have to do because some company cant get their ♥♥♥♥ right. I am NOT doing that.
JMortensen
I think you're taking it a little hard. Just take the rivets out. There are plenty of wheels that have small holes around the perimeter, and I don't think it's the rivets that make the look of the wheel, it's the spokes and their shape. New-to-240z
if u do take them out, think you could throw up some pics for us? I am/was considering buying these rims. Would like to see what they look like.
cygnusx1
$99 per wheel shipped for 16x8. You can't expect them to stand behind the product. I understand that it would take a loooong time to tap and bolt them by hand. Maybe there is another way. Self tapping screws, Alloy rivets, Rubber plugs? or as Jon says, leave 'em full of holes. It's still a good wheel.
Forrest
Sportmax 002's without rivets still look a whole lot better than steel racing wheels.
naviathan
I'd still take the time to tap the holes and replace the rivets with something that will stay. Just me though I suppose.
