Rich idiot with a CTS-V...

Looks like they probably beat or hammered on the cats to break up the matrix inside so it would blow out on purpose. I've seen cats blow out from running too rich, but the chunks that come out when that happens are normally either glowing white hot or burnt black.

Nah the concussion from the back fires were hitting the cats so hard that they broke up the pieces. If you drop a cat on the ground its a good chance it will break apart so they aren't really hard to break. Either way yay lets ruin $500 cats. (from dealer prob more)

I disagree with Thumper...many Cats (unless really really old) are packed hard for the entire length of the piece, usually 10+ inches. If you have ever tried to remove the honeycomb that constitutes a cat it takes a piece of steel pipe a 5lb sledge and a good deal of effort to knock it out. As this is a brand new car, those honeycombs will be in there very tight.

I am unusre how the cats just blew apart like that, my guess is the same as Z-Tard's.

They are going to throw a check engine light on that car now too (OBD2)...but oh well...I like the Lambo at the end!

He did put an injector driver in, I wonder if it filled the cats with fuel and lit off?

That wasn't the 1st time he fired it up. I think they did prior to that and had some popping reactions.

I say this because immediately after he turns on the car...plop, out comes a lil chunk of cat. Also, the owner says in the vid after he gets outta the car, wow that was a lot more than the 1st time, or something like that.

Is it just me or did the guy holding the camera doing the commentary sound a bit like Howard Stern? You can really tell by the tone at the end of the clip.

I agree with slowandrusty. My wifes saab cat was a metal mesh. Problaly once opened it would need a pheumatic jack hammer to get it out and then neatly seemed back up. I did say problaly. Ive seen the old cat stuff and that looked like it but can not understand why the car is backfiring, maby running rich and than ingnited on purpose with spark plugs! This is a set up for sure.

I use to work at a muffler shop and did atleast 2 converters a day. The converters are very strong when you are trying to push on them but when dropped or hit with a hammer they can and will break apart easily. Then again most of my experience was with aftermarket cats. The only OEM's I messed with were already broken apart. So maybe OEM's are better made than aftermarkets nah...J/K:icon54:
