Ferd/289
great job, Clifton, Any chance you can post some pics of the interior of your car? Dash, cage etc. Looks like a nice scca setup. Ferd
JustinOlson
I think it looks good! The gap behind the back of the tire is kinda weird to me. Must just be the angle of the side view. Justin

Clifton
Here's a short video. I had a longer one but cut it down. The quality is bad when they are hosted on boards. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?p=846776#post846776 Ferd/289, I'll get some pics. JustinOlson
Clifton, Thanks for the video!! Did you make the fiberglass doors? Justin
Clifton
No, they were from AZC.
JustinOlson
No, they were from AZC. Do they still make them? Justin
Clifton
Do they still make them? Justin No, he sold the molds to http://www.zfiberglass.com. I don't know if he sold the door molds to him or if he sold them before that though. If you can get them, they don't have the tight gaps like a stock door, definitely a race part. JustinOlson
Clifton any sense of the savings of a fiberglass door vs a gutted factory door? Are you doors hinged or pinned on? Thanks, Justin
Clifton
Clifton any sense of the savings of a fiberglass door vs a gutted factory door? Are you doors hinged or pinned on? Thanks, Justin I know they are lighter but don't know how much they weigh but I would guess that they are easily under 10lbs each. I have to push on the outside where the latch is or they won't latch. I used the stock hinges and latch and a rod to push down to open from the outside, about where the pull up locks would be. hughdogz
Clifton, I feel compelled to say that your '71 is one of the most bada$$ looking S30's I've ever seen!! I really like the flairs, wide tires, banzai paint scheme, and I have to ask if those are 280ZX ducts in the hood...those totally complete the look. And it performs as good as it looks to boot! Damn impressive Man!!
Clifton
Thanks. it was an AZC "twin turbo" hood. Those and the naca ducts were part of it.

JustinOlson
So at the limit does the car push? How has the handling changed from when you had equal width front and rear? Justin
Clifton
I changed the set up to compensate for the extra rubber but it is a little loose. I'll soften it a little.
JMortensen
I know they are lighter but don't know how much they weigh but I would guess that they are easily under 10lbs each. I have to push on the outside where the latch is or they won't latch. I used the stock hinges and latch and a rod to push down to open from the outside, about where the pull up locks would be. This got me curious so I just weighed a gutted stock door without hinges and with the interior area where the door panel covers mostly removed and found that with some bondo but without paint they're about 17-18 lbs. Under 10 lbs would be a pretty significant weight savings.
