badjuju
Just read that some upgrades were happening, just wanted to offer my services as a tech if you need a server built. If I just missed the boat, or you're not interested, it's cool, but if you'd like, I could post a short hardware resume' Haven't donated YET (gotta buy my 7mgte first), but I'd like to support the site in whatever way possible. Administrators SuperDan Posted February 23, 2008 Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2008 Thanks for the offer but this time I decided to order a brand name server instead of building my own. Here are the final specs as ordered for any computer geeks that might be interested. Note the drive array highlighted in blue is not included, I am reusing this hardware from the old server as it is still very new hardware. Specs: Dell PowerEdge 2900 III Processor 1 Quad Core Intel® Xeon® E5420, 2x6MB Cache, 2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB Processor 2 Quad Core Intel® Xeon® E5420, 2x6MB Cache, 2.5GHz, 1333MHz FSB Memory 8GB 667MHz (4x2GB), Dual Ranked DIMMs Primary Controller SAS 6/i Integrated SATA RAID 1 Array 1 Hard Drive 0 160GB - WD Raptor 10000RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hard Drive 1 160GB - WD Raptor 10000RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive RAID 5 Array 2 Hard Drive 2 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hard Drive 3 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hard Drive 4 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hard Drive 5 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hard Drive 6 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Hot Spare Hard Drive 7 300GB 10K RPM SCSI 3Gbps 3.5-in HotPlug Hard Drive Network Adapter Intel® PRO 1000PT Dual Port Server Adapter, Gigabit NIC, Cu, PCIe x4 CD/DVD Drive 16X DVD-ROM Chassis Configuration Tower Chassis Orientation Power Supply Redundant Power Supply with Y-Cord
TrumpetRhapsody
Wow, takes all that to run a forum like this eh? Who would've thunk it. One of these days I'm going to snag myself one of those 160gb raptors... one of these days.
Administrators SuperDan Posted February 23, 2008 Administrators Share Posted February 23, 2008 Wow, takes all that to run a forum like this eh? Who would've thunk it. No it doesn't, this is way overkill. I just do not want to do it again for at least another 4 years. It will also allow me to consolidate the 3 main HybridZ servers into one

That's me the tall one in the back talking to Cozy. He's changed alittle, looks alittle more preppy. Ron and Paul still look the same.
