Challenger
Well after seeing a picture of I believe Yorgee's airdam pushed up against the radiator I thought it would be smart to reinforce mine. Ill remove the photo if their any copyright infringement... I made it from strap steel from the local hardware store. ($7.00) Heres it mounted from the bottom. Mounts to two holes already in the radiator subframe. I believe they were for the valance? Mounts tight up against the inside of the airdam with small pieces of rubber (front bumper to bumper bracket gasket ). From the top.
CArFAn
Can you give out the dimensions on the pieces in a ms paint diagram.

Challenger
Sure Ill get some dimensions, but I wouldnt go out and make one based on them... might not fit.
Evan Purple240zt
I had something similar on my car after someone told me it was flexing badly. I found it made the car feel more stable at higher speeds. Evan
zmaster
was the cause of the airdam being pushed up from the speed of the car, or is it just that flimsy.
Challenger
was the cause of the airdam being pushed up from the speed of the car, or is it just that flimsy. Both, the urethane isnt very rigid and at high speed it starts to flex. Hopefully this paired up with my radiator enclosure (see sig) the front end will stay on the ground. Evan Purple240zt
Be careful around curbs, you have just lost any of the forgiveness of urethane. You could shove that strap right through the air dam. Good idea though.
Challenger
The straping has a rounded edge at the front so it wont go through. I took this into consideration and the way its made under a heavy impact the braces will rotate sideways.... atleast thats the plan.
Six_Shooter
I have a design in mind that is similar but adds more radial bracing that might actually work better in a curb incident, since I'm thinking about getting one of these air dams. CArFAn
Thanks for posting. I have the same airdam only its on a 240z. I just wanted a starting point as to how much material i should get.
RedEvilrps13
seeing as i'm sending someone payment for a xenon airdam today, its good to have this heads up for when i install it.
bjhines
Another approach is to use a flat plate from the top lip of the airdam to the radiator support crossmember. This helps aerodynamics as well. ...
Challenger
Yeah, I did that also. Look in my sig. It did provide some strength but not enough in my opinion. (26 guage, couldnt cut anything else.)
hoov100
imo you should put some sheet metal over it to keep foreign objects from entering that little area.
Challenger
What little area?
240zdave
Has anyone experimented with fabricating / attaching a splitter to the bottom edge of the air dam? I am thinking of adding that to the dam on the race car, but haven't gotten into materials or attachment methods yet.
TrumpetRhapsody
Challenger is working on that too! http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=132261
