josh817
AHHHHHH! What are they doing?! Season 3 Episode 4! They put the front up against the wall, jack up the rear tires, and spin them. AH! Its a good looking Z too! Mind you, the jack was a fork lift.... >_<
naviathan
Didn't get to see that episode, might have to petition them to release that car back to the Z car community.
bigblock96
I think I remember that one it was white?
zman1988
I think it was white, you see it again when they go out to the retired base, I think it is tori's, i only guess that because you see him swerve side to side as they drive towards the camera and that is something he would do. Gollum
I remember that episode. I thought it was donated... I can't remember though. I don't think I ever mentioned this, but I've met grant on several occasions. He worked with the school my sister used to teach at, he was head of their robotics team. First time I met him he was trying to get me to help them out on their robotics team as a programmer. Super nice dude.

Trevor
I thought the Z was Kari's driver ..... I don't think they beat on the Z car too badly. The purpose of the experiment was to see how fast a Hot Wheels car could run before axles break and plastic wheels melt etc., so they made up a little fixture to allow the toy car to roll atop the spinning Z tire, which we all know is tied to a finely calibrated speedometer. (1024 rev/mile).
m4xwellmurd3r
could you PM me the link then?
rturbo 930
It's not like they shot at it, trying to get it to explode like they did some other cars. Actually, doesn't really look like they beat on it at all.
m4xwellmurd3r
very true. it's hard to see where they lifted the rear from, but they didn't force the car against the wall, it was only there to prevent a worst case scenario of a runaway. didn't look like they were hammering on it either since they wanted to know exact speeds >_> using a Z's speedo
bigblock96
agreed but lifting it with a forklift oh my!
josh817
I just don't like the thought of a Z being on Myth Busters. Something is bound to happen.
Gollum
I don't see anything wrong with lifting it with a fork lift as long as it's done carefully. I'd even say it's safer than a jack. Definately safer than a scissor type jack.
Kevin.pk
When I first went to check out my Z at a junk yard. I asked how the floor plans looked (since the tires were flat it was hard to get a glimpse under it). He said " wait a minute" and returned with a forklift. Lifted the car up by the center... actually across the frame rails and as I stood there in awe:shock: that they didn't crush upon lifting the car, I was satisfied that it was relatively rust free. I wouldn't pick the car up with a forklift now though Kevin
buZy
I am sure the Mythbusters are great nice guys in person...whatever.. they act like total dorks on television. Something about both of them just bothers me... Oh I know the show in general takes for granted the audience is dumb. Using a classic Z with a fork lift, just another idiot example. Gee I guess there are not enough 86 ford escorts around. Lame. I was right all along.
Gollum
With a forklift you can adjust left/right placement of both forks AND the up/down pitch. There's plenty of things down there to lift off of that would hold up fine. I think you guys are being a bit anal. You should see how most shops use their 4 point lifts... m4xwellmurd3r
haha I just noticed in the background you can see Jamie's vw truck.
(goldfish)
It's not very safe to lift a car like that, car rolling forward, tines bend, things just shift.
m4xwellmurd3r
that's why they had it up against the wall, so it couldn't roll forwards incase it slipped
