So how many carbs is too many?

So as some of you know, Z cars are not the only cars I play with. Here is a picture of my Straight eight powered hot rod. Runs 12's in the 1/4 mile NA, at 3600 LBS. 357 CI, 3/16" over bore, 11-1 compression, etc. So After years of looking I finally found one of maybe ten ever made HOWARD 6 carb intake manifold. I rebuilt 6, 97 carbs and installed it on the buick. Runs pretty darn good too, and the AFR's are spot on, well as good as you can expect for carbs built in the early thirtys.

Dont mind the flaky headers and dirty engine! Hey somethings gotta keep me busy while Im waiting on my clutch for the TT car right? I guess I could fix the bent valves in the other stroker motor though, haha.

Wow. A straight-8. Don't see those....ever. :D

Great find on the intake though.

I've been looking for an old Offy 4x2 for my upcoming "retro" setup, but couldn't ever find one. The closest thing I could find to what I wanted comes from Carbs Unlimited. But it sits a little too high for my liking, plus for what they're wanting for the manifold and Webers, I could just about have a fully custom IDF style EFI.

Too Cool!!! Any better carburetor porn?

I sure would like to meet the guy who first thought "Lets put SIX single-throat carbs, breathing through FOUR ports, on our Eight cylinder motor!"

After all, it takes a little crazy to make good people.

I noticed that motor had a non-crossflow head on it.

I BET you could take a couple of RB heads, cut one in half right down the middle.........................

..but seriously, any chance of a video so we could hear that beast?

mechanical fuel injection manifold, looks like maybe SBC, I would hazard a guess at what brand but I cant think of the name of the company right now.

I have one of those manifolds sitting in a box in the back of my 75 right now; BRAAP has expressed interest in it. Unfair advantage :-P

My wife and I watched the movie in the theater and when she said that every guy in there started groaning and complaining. The guy in front of us said, "She was looking soooo hot until she screwed that one up..."

Interested would be an understatement! :2thumbs: That intake is my dream topper for an N/A single-plane V-8 crankshaft. Just need to find that part/s-service I have to offer in trade that will seal the deal. wink.gif

Actually i read that the car she was looking at did have what she said. They changed cars or used a different engine bay picture later in post production.
