Well. the destruction of the "old" car wasn't originally part of the deal. Some dealer in germany was caught trying to sell the old cars off the lot. As a result ALL dealers taking advantage of the deal now HAVE to "disable" the vehicles. The US isn't the only country doing a program similar to this. Although I agree that this will "either" be slightly beneficial, or a disaster (leaning towards that latter), because the US economy has a vastly different from other smaller countries doing the same program. Well, I thought that I might as well take advantage of this opportunity, since its here. If I didn't, than someone else would have, so it makes no difference as far as the tax I would be paying later. I traded in my 93 Jeep cherokee sport (worth $500 ) for a hyundai . So no rare cars sacrificed because of me. The amount to repair the jeep would of been 6x what its worth .

EDIT: well the Konig rewinds are a better example. Where the spoke just edges over the flange on the rim, that is pointed and the spokes aren't as rounded, more edges like above. I'm looking for the name of a set of rims. They look a lot like the sports max wheels, but look a little more aggressive and have the spokes taper wider towards the outside and pointed on the outer spokes.

Its not going to work, unless you... run a wide fender setup and/or trim the hood along the sides and extend the fenders to fill in the gap. "compound" headlights are wide than you might think they actually are.

An unbiased account would clear things up. Up here, if you drive a vehicle without insurance, you get the car towed and license suspended. Had and accident last winter, when I rear ended someone, who cut me off trying to make a right turn and slid into a snow bank. Half the van was in the street and I only have about 2 car lengths to react and my breaks locked up. He didn't have his license and wasn't his car. I only had the bumper pushed in on my jeep. I know of a guy that smogged his up (believe it or not, Alaska has smog testing. Mine is far from being on the road). He said the tech glanced at the engine (like, 5 sec. ) and just ran it on the sniffer. You can try putting a new header/exhaust system without a cat. Most techs can't tell whether such an "old" car came with one . If they do ask where it is, just say that it never came with one or that you did an engine swap with and Federal model engine (Fed model never came with one ).

Well you can~, and use a rag and ice water to shrink it back, but sense he's asking about welders, I wouldn't think that he has the skills to know how long to hold the rag or the torch. I'm sure you can find a cheap $50 fluxcore welder on craigslist. I did . Only topped the duty cycle of it once ever since I bought it. Does it do everything that I want? - no Does it do what I need it to do? -yes And for $50 for a welder, I consider $50 money that I would be wasting on something else.
