  1. He definitely has me beat with the timeslip thus far. I have the power advantage(for now), but the launch is something else with his 1.6 60ft. Very impressive indeed. Do you think the nitrous is actually working??HEHE! BTW, what cam are you running in that car? I bet folks don't quite understand how this little 510 is running 10s with such high mph and NO INTERCOOLER!
  2. Wow, that is your car? Very tidy, you definitely got me topped! Now, fix the wiring stuff then start running representitive times and come see us in here. good luck! BTW, that should be an old BAE J-pipe. It should be cast onto the pipe.
  3. 4N71B tranny is its designation and I run one in my car. Held 475hp @wheels at the track with stock rebuild and valve body mods. Yes, the maxima jobber will bolt up, but you also need to get the maxima flexplate and converter. OD is a nice .68 for some serious highway cruising. turbo trannies are consider stronger because the drums have a snap ring located further up to allow for more clutches to be packed in. You should just be able to swap drums to the turbo jobber so you can get additional clutches into them. Good LUck.
  4. My local CV guy can do the rebuild and also get the shafts for you at a great pirce. All new boots, the right ones and the proper SS straps. Not difficult at all, most places just don't care to do things right! If the part is worn it will be replaced. I just build a custom set of shafts for a VLSD conversion for ZGad and he paid $200 for new shafts, boots, parts and the rebuild. Take note, this was a custom shaft setup so the price was a bit higher. I think the typical price is about $75/per. American Axle & Cv (850) 576-2297 Ask for Wayne and tell him James sent you.
  5. It is a simply J-pipe off the stock manifold..seen it before.
  6. Well, I did spin a pulley 3 years back, but do not know the age of that pulley and I did get oil on the dampener material which eats it up. My new Euro pulley has lasted 3 years with no problems and I rev it to 7200rpm all day long. Also, my trigger wheel was secured to the center portion of the pulley and not the dampened portion. Maybe I am just lucky and maybe TimZ has just been lucky, but until my luck runs out I will stick with a new stock jobber.
  7. Yes, my 57trim TO4E t3/t4 had boost creep problems as you have described. I took a grinder and smoothed the transition going into the wastegate hole and also enlarged the wastegate hole. Make sure you leave enough lip so the wastegate puck seals. After this mod my boost creep problems went away. This is the easiest route for you and should solve your problem.
  8. the heat soak experienced is very bad. You will lose power and it is quite noticeable. You need to space off the turbo atleast 1/4" if you can so you can fit a heat shield between the compressor housing and exhaust manifold. It is also a good idea to use some header wrap on that section of the exhaust manifold. I have been there!
  9. Mike, looks to be a T66 compressor wheel. Inducer(2.580") Exducer(3.584") Your inducer is .100" bigger so is safe to say you have a turbo somewhat equivalent, if not exact, to a T66 compressor wheel. Good turbo in my opinion for a NASTY setup! Better get some better tires and bigger injectors my friend!
  10. I accept your apology! What is weak is the perpetual questions that never change on this forum. I wonder how many times we have seen the same questions asked because folks who are just too lazy to search the archives. My post was intended to be childish and ridiculous. It goes along with some of the junk I always see posted. It also goes along with the crap-ass e-mail I received from JT240Z just because I told him to do more homework. I saw ZERO posts criticizing this type of behaviour yet I need to work on MY presentation! Why would someone not post back to do some further research when he seemingly did not know a compressor wheel from a turbine wheel. You have no basis for being offended except that you may have been embarrassed.
  11. ohhhhh snookums....are you mad at me? I have just broken into a thousand pieces.....I told you I am so fragile!
  12. Nathan, why are you criticizing me? I am fragile!
  13. I am a lazy fella', so I thought instead of searching the archives I would ask a question asked 1000x before. My motor is a P95 or P98 or something like that and it has 6 spark plugs. What do you think about this setup and will it work. How will it rev in my car, will it vibrate badly, will it get me a speeding ticket, will it allow me to pick up chicks, will it make my football team win games? BTW, do not criticize my post because my feelings are very sensitive and I am bound to send you a nasty e-mail. Please respect my fragility! Oh yea, and my football team is better than your football team!
  14. Thank you for the e-mail JT240Z. It was so nice I thought I should share it with others! Now if that is not the pot calling the kettle black This is why I hardly post, because people just can't stand a dissenting opinion. If you are gonna post when you seemingly don't have a clue, then why should you not expect some criticism. I was trying to help by telling you to do some further research so you would not waste your money. I also said a .96 a/r on a p-trim would not spool. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 16 Feb 2003 21:25:30 -0500 From: Tomsits <odyssey@mindspring.com> To: jthagard@wombat.eng.fsu.edu Subject: Student DICK You are the dick I thought you were. The PH "D" must be for student DICK. Some day, you'll realize that, you yourself, don't know it all either. I hope when that day comes, you'll be left in the dark with some argent kid trying to make himself look smart. You know nothing about what I am or what I know. I make one lousy post on a simple topic that, you may know more about at this time, and assume that you have all the knowledge in the world. A PHD at FSU...Now that's a joke. The HYBRIDZ forum was design to aid in the growth of knowledge, not to suppress it!
  15. When I ran the previous intercooler that was 5.5" thick, the hole was used to get additional air to the radiator. It still serves the same purpose, but I need to make some ducting for it to have a better effect. I used a Jig Saw with the proper blade to cut the hole. Place masking tape on the hood where it is to be cut and then trace the line on the masking tape. The tape helps to ensure the saw does not scratch the paint and keeps the paint from chipping along the cut line.
  16. Well said, I apologize. You said you had limited info on the turbine side, but you listed all the info on the turbine side. I did not designate myself a "HybridZ GURU," but I appreciate the designation. I did not bash you, you were most likely just embarassed? I did "suggest" to you. I suggested you do some homework before you make a post that shows your limited knowledge and before you buy a turbo that you have no idea about. A P-trim .96 a/r will not spool. P-trim .58 a/r or .70a/r will work in most cases, but anything larger will be lazy on a standard z setup w/out nitrous. BooHoo, I hurt your feelings and I am truly sorry!
  17. I will try to be nice. You have info on the turbine side when you said it was a P-trim. That is the turbine wheel. You have also said .96 a/r which is also the turbine side a/r. You also said 4-bolt flange which signifies it is an on-center housing. Do NOT buy things when you do NOT know what you are talking about. Do some research 1st before you buy a turd you cannot use. I am not trying to be a detective(dick), but.....
  18. How does a pump flow 100psi?
  19. I've seen a carrot in a vagina, but never a vagina in a carrot
  20. I think you have made a good cam choice and will be curious to see the results. I last purchased rocker arms as a set from MSA. I get jobber pricing and the cost was about $10-$12per. You may want to also try Courtesy Nissan.
  21. If you take off the compressor housing you can measure the inducer and exducer of the compressor wheel with some calipers. With that information you can determine what compressor wheel you have. TimZ has posted on how turbine efficiency is very important in the scheme of using a turbocharger and it can, if not properly sized, kill your ability to make power no matter how big a compressor wheel you use. If you are looking for big power and you are using the word "stock," chances are it sucks for what you are trying to do. The options I have seen w/out going to a full T4 is the stage V turbine wheel or a euro T3 turbine housing that allows you to shove a P-trim turbine wheel into that sucker. As I said before the 60-1 can spool like nobody business on that motor with the proper setup and will easily make 400hp@wheels in the 23-25psi area. I was making about 365@wheels with 19psi running rich on the topend going 120.2mph in the 1/4 with a 60-1. A cam can be very significant in your motors ability to make power. If all else has been addressed, intake and exhuast, a cam can then be properly utilized. The reason we have said the turbo efficiency seems to have crapped is that I have seen dyno graphs using the 60-1 turbo on a bone stock motor where power peaks around 6Krpm. Cams I have seen do well are the Isky Stage I cam as TimZ uses and my Web Cam. More lift and more duration will help the motor to breath even on turbo applications. If you can go all 3" that is ideal. What are you running for a downpipe right now? I personally do not run a muffler, but I used to run the Dynomax Race Magnum which is a pretty nice muffler. You want to utilize a muffler with a straight thru design, meaning you can see right through one end to the other. They will make a big difference in sound without creating the unwanted backpressure. No reason to reinvent the wheel in your quest. Just use reasonable judgement and look at what others have done and what they have achieved.
  22. First, good number on your setup. However, the exhuast is not your problem at this point. Going to a 3" exhuast will not add you another 50hp on your setup. Concentrate on getting a more efficient turbo and with your same exhaust I can garauntee you will see the 50hp he is talking about. Now, don't do as I and others have done when getting an upgraded turbo. What is that you ask? Going to a whimpy turbo upgrade and then finding is was not big enough. Set your hp goals and choose the correct turbo the 1st go round. You have the Haltech so tuning is not the issue. Do not use smaller than a 60-1 and you can expect some HUGE increases in power. The 60-1 provides excellent spool and will allow you to easily make 350-375@wheels on pump gas. Good luck and good job.
