  1. Is the picture just not clear enough for these people? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Converted-Corvette-Independent-Rear-End-for-Datsun-280z_W0QQitemZ4645157380QQihZ002QQcategoryZ107061QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This can't be what they say it is. Looks completely stock to me.
  2. In my best redneck voice:"Hey fellas, watch this" LOL
  3. Sorry for the hijack iskone, just goes to show it's usually best to do all you can yourself. Personally, I would just get another fender if that was possible. Considering I had done most of the body work to that point and just lost interest in the project because of the remaining body work needed, I dropped it off at a body shop to finish it up. I know $2k isn't much when good paint jobs are concerned, but to me thats a chunk of change. Since I stripped the car to nothing but a steering wheel, emergency brake handle and suspension and prep'ed all the interior, I thought $2k would have gotten me a pretty good job. Considering "where" I dropped it off I would have expected alot more. I will not mention the place I got it done, but lets just say they are very familiar with Z cars. As my lawyer told me, I guess I'm to nice of a guy and seem to be a push over. We'll see. 3 months of it sitting in my garage while I put it back together and the paint started yellowing. Old hardner, cheap materials, dirty gun I don't know. I just know it will have to be repainted. At that time I will probably have to repair the previous repair and paint it myself. After all is said and done and given the response I got when I said it needed to be repainted this may end badly for all parties involved. I am a firm believe in you get what you pay for and even more of a believer in "If you want it done right.." I usually outsource only the things I don't have the means to do, like powder coating and machine work. I've had an oven sitting in my garage for 3 years now, but almost everything I wanted powdercoated was to big for it so...I have atleast $400 in just powder coating just at this point. Still have more to go. And the never ending project continues as it always will, slowly but surely. I coming for your record Pete!
  4. I would have loved to see this done on my Z(opposite side though) when my body work was being done. I asked the body shop to fix an improper previous repair and I got an even worse improper repair. So, you mean to tell me that lap jointing and then using rivots isn't the professional way to do it. Then just glob on body filler to smooth it out, and then stand back and wonder why the spoiler does fit properly?
  5. I can't get to any other page in the garage but the first. Hitting page 2 sends me here: http://forums.hybridz.org/vbgarage.php?do=$_REQUEST[do]&page=2&perpage=25 But it's a white page, nothing else. All other page links have the same result.
  6. Congrats! Just don't get sucked into the "while I'm at it" syndrome or that month will be over before you know it.
  7. Tell me about it! Ours is only 80lbs and almost eats us out of house and home. Then add the pit bull, english springer and 3 cats. I just recently got a pekingese/chihuahua(picture the shape of a pek and the size of the chi), which is more like a cat then a dog. Cats are still confused after 2 weeks. LOL
  8. I thought the same thing. I now have to pull all my finished suspension components and clean off the over spray. Ofcourse, I also had to redo my seats, clean emergency brake handle and steering column because of over spray. Don't count on them doing it!
  9. That looks like a fun fishing trip!
  10. Autozone has repair manuals online. They are about as good as a haynes manual. The pictures are taken directly from either Haynes or Chiltons. Here you go... http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1d/16/b5/0900823d801d16b5.jsp
  11. I have a turbo oil pan laying in the garage right now. If you want me to take some pics and measurements PM me. This one has the original bung for the factory hose, but the placement is perfect for what you are doing. I do plan on removing the factory bung and replace it with AN fitting with a plug so I can put the pan on the motor for the time being. I'll be eventually going turbo, but not for awhile and this keeps me from pulling the pan later with the motor in.

  13. If this is a Z tranny and your trying to fill it you can use the reverse switch hole. It's usually easier to remove.
  14. I've accidentally put my '74 key in my '77 and had the same problem. I used visegrips to get it out. While I was clamping the visegrips down I was also turning the key ever so gently. As the visegrips clamped down(making that click noise) it rattled the tomblers in the switch and allowed the key to turn. Once you have the key out you can take it to a keysmith and get another key made that isn't worn out. As for another switch, I don't have a clue...
  15. That is why I posted a pic of my "mount for a set of harnesses" because the 6 point bolt in CAGE I have seen mounted at the same points. I thought I did READ a little bit closer. Am I missing something?
  16. That looks sweet. I love the color. Good luck with the motor install.
  17. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=5329&cat=500&ppuser=7958 There are acouple other pics with the seat in. The passenger seat gets pushed about 3 inches further forward then the driver seat, but still has plenty of leg room. These pics were all before the seats got redone and the roll bar was painted. With the roll bar bolted in like I have it and seat in normal driving position there is 1/8" to the roll bar harness brace, about 1/8" to the over head plastic and about a 1/16" to the head liner. It actually touches in the very center. I can put my seat back far enough to not fully disengage the clutch. I'm 5'10" with a 32" inseam and the seats are out of a '94 eclipse, if I recall correctly.

  19. Look at the front just below the controls and you will see two bolts. Then get in the engine bay and you will see two nuts on studs coming through the fire wall. Pull the grommet cover off the grommets around the copper lines and the other for the heater lines and pull the grommets out. It should come loose then.
  20. Your '74 260 should not have power steering unless the previous owner installed the pump from a ZX and found a rack that would work from another car.
  21. And here I thought you were just another pretty face.
  22. If you look closely you'll see the wipers are flipped and you can just see the check valve for the brake booster with the vacuum line going to the intake. In others words, on the other side of the car. Edit: Dan beat me to it. I guess I should finish what I start in a timely manner while at work. LOL
