  1. Not essential, but it helps for strength and looks I think. Keeps the finish even and smooth.
  2. As far as I know, its the same procedure. Getting the finish the way you want it is a little more difficult though. If you can create some sort of autoclave for the piece you want to make, than you can get that awesome finish that you see on all the nice parts. I actually haven't worked with carbon all that much, but I'm sure some of the other people on the board have more information to give out.
  3. You may want to look into the new GM global V6. I believe they have an interation of it in the new CTS (last year's model didn't have the new V6). I think if you do a search, you'll probably find a thread written about it.
  4. A company makes a custom bell housing to match it up. It actually isn't that exensive, but they really stick yah with the custom flywheel and slave cylinder. They make a Northstar V6?
  5. I'll let you guys know when I get the complete list of specs. I'm going to get a few dyno runs too, to see where its at. Just believe me when I say the guy knows what he's doing.
  6. Let's just say I ran into the right person at the right time
  7. Well, if I detune it to 400HP do you think the 3" will be too big? P.S. I think I fixed the part you used as a quote.
  8. I guess I was a little general there. Good titanium, good titanium, good titanium!!! Better? J/K I know what you mean though. I just bought a custom stainless exhaust for my Honda and I'm pretty sure, for its size (3"), you would have a hard time matching it's weight with titanium. What was the header design for the Honda though? Was it a 4-2-1 that could withstand a beating?
  9. If you get really lucky, you could make an accurate CAD drawing and do some software aerodynamic testing. Problem is, that software is more than $100,000 from NASA.
  10. Titanium, titanium, titanium!!!!!
  11. You better know someone with a wind tunnel. If not, you better start looking. 5 years, eh. Get yourself a mechanical engineer degree or something that deals exstensively with aerodynamics. Basically, if you want to get a Z anywhere close to 200MPH, its going to take some power and one awesome belly pan and front end.
  12. You guys should check out http://www.sixstroke.com for a different design if you haven't already.
  13. Sounds good. Being a prototype doesn't really bother me, because I'm willing to do work to make sure it works right. Its a great deal on a nice looking part, that should flow way better than the OE piece sitting on my donor car at the moment.
  14. I get paid this Friday, so I have to look at funds (I'm also swapping a B series Honda motor into my hatch at the moment too). Its only tack (spelling?) welded right? Do you know how close it comes to the tranny (only trying to get an idea for how big the tranny to downpipe brace is going to have to be)? Thanks again, Ryan
  15. How close does it get to the tranny? I have a Nissan 5 spd, so I'm very interested, especially for $200.
  16. Any idea of when the buy is going to happen or for how much? Just trying to get an idea timewise, because I'm a college student that goes from paycheck to paycheck to pay for car parts.
  17. Any more news on how many are going?
  18. I was looking to get a premium for them. Maybe a few hundred cheaper than what you paid for the setup you have now. It should fit, but I don't know a whole bunch about the differences between L6 heads.
  19. I've got a complete working set of tripple 44 Mikuni's with Canon manifold and all the linkage that I want to sell. I'm currently polishing 'em and then some Zoop seal to make it hold. I have no use for the tripples anymore, because I'm going turbo.
  20. That's what it seems like to me. Keeps the exhaust velocity going off of boost for good respone (not backpressure ). I have heard about people dumping the blow off valve and/or waste gate (can't remember) back in front of the turbo to keep it spooled up.
  21. I think http://www.pro-50.com/ is the website. They are a little on the expensive side, but I've yet to miss a 2-3 upshift and the feel is so great. I've never felt something that just goes into gear with such a great feeling. I guess it would be somewhere in the neighborhood of the new Z's shifter feel.
  22. The Brown Bead is good stuff. The ceramic stuff supposedly reduced inside levels of up to 18dB. I'm not quite sure the test parameters, but it would make a good noise/heat insulator. Lay some Brown Bead on top and you may have Lexus quiet interior with AC and heat that will actually keep the car cool or warm.
  23. How about this stuff: http://www.coolcarllc.com
