  2. You can divide 1/8 mile times by .65 to get the quarter mile times or ya can multiply 1/4 mile time by .65 and get the 1/8 time ....nice times by the way Hanns...my poor little z only pulls 6.99 in the 1/8
  3. Hanns... It was nice talking to you and meeting you .. and ya got mine and my sons vote and it was fun to see ya win what we voted for . was also nice to see the whole car other than just the beautiful engine ..lol.. Had a great time ... and saw plenty of great cars...and some real nice people
  4. Well good question but i watched tonights show and noticed that shean barney was in nate pritchets crew meaning they know him already .. i still think the show is a big set up and some people get screwed.. glad the z kicked his cheating ass

Now see i can't seem to take the times you state as truth as your 60 foot times are in the 1.5's as you say... and you have great mile an hour .. those times don't match the speed or 60 foot together.. my 60 foot is not as good as yours and my speed is lower as well but my et is better.. and i actually am at a 2740 foot elevation ..not saying ya didn't really do those times with the speed and 60 foot .. but i am at a 6.75 in the 1/8 at only 103 with a 1.68 60 foot so less speed than you you and not as good a 6o foot but quicker.. hhhmmm
  7. Maybe some better cylinder heads (195 afr's) and a slightly bigger cam will get you into the 320 rwhp range (low 12 at 115). Then spray a little 125 shot of n20 for a true 420rwhp Z which should get your car into the mid 11's at around 125 mph. That should be enough to beat most cars and is at the limit for Z axles and half shafts...... So with these times you stated .. are these guesses or are they in your car with no traction .. (just a question .) the speeds ya have i run and i have way better times at 125 i am in the upper 10 sec range and always low 11 with the 115 to 118 mph speeds..... thats with a small drag radial and no gears or larde stall.. if ti is in a z that is set up right ...

So 300 hundred with boost before.... thats basicly a stock 350 then with whatever poweradder ya had then right .. og course the new motor will make more power than that .. i had 237 at the wheels with a junk rebuilt 350 that was 400 bucks and all stock and no poweradder at all..... so just figure out your rod and piston choices and have fun ... my current 383 is putting over 350 to the wheels all motor and over 450 with a little NOS...

Some friends and i watched it last night at a bar a friend works at .. about 50 people in there we came in and changed all the tv's and the big screen all to pinks.. as my 240 was parked right outside the door.. and man there was some crap talking in that bar.. but great win ya had there..... i already knew the outcome from here .no one wanted to bet with me ..lol all we want to know is he never wanted to run Barney with NOS .. was it even really hooked up on the car or was he just trying to use it as a tool to get you to run only on the motor ..... And by his attitude during the race i would have crushed his car and sent him a tape of it .. and yeah i read about the car going back and how he turned out to be a nicer guy than he looked...

You have to have the tv cable set right or it will not work .. also it will not work very long .. as for the wires ya don't need them mine are not hooked up and i am going on 2 years now .. but i did contact bowtieoverdrives in Hesperia california and get the right tv cable and bracket for the carb set up i am running... ya might want to look into that ..
  11. As for the comment on hyper pistons not taking 200shot of NOS.. that's wrong .. I have those pistons and i now have a 200 shot on my car thats not jetting that is actual dyno at the wheels more power.. we have had 400 shot on hyper pistons.... and not for 1 run so far i am 4 .. 10 lbs bottle's into this ... the secret i was told with nitrous is take away the timing .. a nos knock with timing melts pistons .. without the timing it melts a plug.. seems to work so far.. and we don't even wanna talk about the 200 shot i had on the cast pistons.. tune the car right and ya can run most anything .. for how long that is the real question .. and who said vortec heads are only good for 350 hp .. my motor came with those heads and started with 425 or so at the crank.But hey thats just my 2 cents.. and that engine dyno program is not that close to real world.. but it is fun to play with .. just don't build a motor based on one of those ya will be unhappy with the results

I actually use a Uego1000 wide band to tune with .. kinda made it simple .. press pedal going down street see 15.1 air fuel know it is lean ..lol i actually have it at 14.7 in gear at idle and most of cruising and at 12.6 at wide open throttle and on the NOS it is jetted to be at 12.4 made tuning so simple was well worth the 300 bucks for it ....
  13. Look into Crane Cams Powermax cams ... .488/.509 advertised duration at 276/284 1600 - 5800 rpm or .509/.528 at 284/292 2000-6200 rpm they come in the gm Crate motors mine has the 2nd one shown sounds nice and great power
  14. Yes it is a 750 i am running a proform 750 double pumper with mechanical secondaries ...and the jetting i have now would be a 78 main jets and 84 secondaries with no power valve in the rear and the carb actually has adjustable idle air bleeds and high speed air bleeds

I had this same thing on mine when i went from 350 to a 383.. the accelerator pump squirters had to go up to a 37 front and 35 rear and also went about 4 jets larger all the way around.. and it went away i could sit in neutral and rev fine all day as soon as ya tried to stomp on it in gear it bogged down and didn't wanna go .. so if the timing is ok start there

I am running the ZZ383 motor as it came no mods.. i started with a victor jr. intake adn tossed that one for the GM single plane they recomend and got 50 hp more at the wheels from that alone . i also only have 1/58 block hugger headers .. on the dyno i have 370 at the wheels and i also run NOS.. that gave me 470 hp at the wheels .. so far the motor is great a little noisy on the valve train with the zero lash they recomend.. about 5000 miles on it so far and about 4 mos to go on the warranty .. stong motor for $5,400 out the door..

  18. Hey as i said in the first reply ya would never believe how many so called ford guys have no idea about the difference in the 2 motors.. I actually got in an argument with some ford pro.. (self acclaimed that is) at a car show telling me i was an idiot cuz all 302 fords have the same firing order and cam as eachother.. so i just opened the hood on my 88 mustang and a 67 falcon that just happened to have a mid 70 302 and wow old man looked like an a hole .... So just get the cam put it in right and you should love the new found powen.. just remember to put the non ho firing order

Check to timing adn firing order do you have a 302 ho.. there are 2 different firing orders on a ford 302 make sure if ya have the ho that is the firing order ya are using and that the cam matches the kind of 302 ya have people make that mistake all the time even at our shope with ford people that think they know everything.. ti will run on either firing order just like crap on the wrong one cuz like 2 or 4 cyl have the wrong wire.. start there first is easy and nothing has to come appart then go from there

Almost all the newer intakes including the victor jr have bungs welded to them for fuel injection or ya can get them and have them welded in .. i have the zz383 with the gm intake and it has the bungs welded on it all i have to do it drill the hole and insert the injectors and run whatever computer i feel as in a f.a.s.t. system or something .. i had this done to a victor jr on my mustang before they sold the spider intake .. worked great and increased mileage.. power was about the same but did respond way better...

Ok i have to comment on that one about the stock 302 splitting at 500 hp... wrong .. it has nothing to do with the hp .. it is the rpm and vibration that does it .. i have a stock block 342.. non bored or it would be a 347 .. i put 625 at the wheels on brothers performance dyno.. over 3 years now .. my shift point is 5800.... i never go over that .. that is with a pt76 turbo kit and afr heads. the 2 blocks i have seen split one made 345 hp and one 4 something .. both revving near 7000 ..the block cracks right from where the lifter retainer plat bolts to the block .. also use a main girdle .. helps .. but yeah they do come appart but all motors break .. i have a dart block that cracked all the main caps.. that was supposed to be bullet proof and 700 hp broke that one ...all due to an over rev .. just my 2 cents

It is not a question of how much it will take... it is how well it is tuned that makes the biggest deal.. i have had friends blow motors due to stupid things like not checking bottle pressure or fuel .. hot rod magazine did a test on this and they had 250hp on a cast piston old junk 350 chevy till it blew appart.. my $400. rebuilt 8.5 cast piston motor got punished after i got the new 383 just to see what it would take and leaving the line on a 150 shot at 1000rpm didn't even melt a plug the car just got faster so i gave up...
