  1. I wish I had a lot of money to spend. That would be very cool to have. Don
  2. It's FORD not Ferd Smaller motor, shorter bores the 351 is about 60lbs more than the 302 as the block is 1 inch taller, I think. Just because it's not a bowtie does not mean it's junk. Don
  3. Yes I have never seen Doug's white 302Z if that is the one you are talking about. I have known Doug since 1984 he is a friend of a friend. Good to know that there are getting to be more hybrids around. Don
  4. Shock where in washington are you? I just want to know where the hybrids are in my area so I know I'm not the only one crazy enough to do this in this area. Don
  5. A 302 ford is a good engine and can make some good power (400+) with the usual stuff. The main advantage of the 302 is it's light weight, if I was doing it again I would choose this motor. It's not all that hard to mount a 302 it just is that there is not a standard way to mount it. It can be mounted many ways starting from with motor mount plates just like the jtr setup to solid motor plates like a sprint car. The advantage of chevy is everyone has one, nuf said. Don
  6. Hi seattlezcar welcome to this group, wow a local guy. Was it only a sideswipe as it it looks like there is maybe a backcorner pushed in. In the middle picture it looks like the panel is buckled and that would complicate things a lot. If not the metal will need to be shrunk and moved around alot. Shouldn't be too hard a repair to do, too bad I am starting a new job tomorrow after spending the last half of the sumer laid off. I'm with Tomahawk in thinking that it is hard to explain but there are some great people on this board that should be able to spell it out for you. Good luck. Don
  7. Electrons flow from the negative side of the battery to the positive. Wow twelve words. That is literally what electron flow is as opposed to conventional flow theory. Don
  8. When you get the 1000 make sure you put up a picture of it. Don
  9. Hi a 302 ford is less than a Z motor in weight and much less than a standard SBC. You said a SBC=lump og ford or LS1 (I think). But all this is from a guy who's Z isn't running yet. Don
  10. Thanks Grumpyvette for explaining that and making me realize that there is a diffrenct in wet and dry flow. Now I really feel stupid as I did not pick up on the stealth "ram" and was thinking it was a Weiand stealth you were talking about. Don
  11. Ok, with that said why does edelbrock make the Vic Jr? Does a single plane have better tuning for higher RPM and the tuning does not include flow volume? Should I feel stupid for getting the VicJr and not the stealth I was looking at? 358ci 10:1 Canfield 192cc 2.02/1.60 I E .585 .550 254 262 @.050 110LC Don
  12. You chevy guys get all the cool stuff. Grumpy I try to read all your posts, as they will usally apply to any engine, you are a wealth of info. I would like to ask on thing. Looking at the screen, how would you attach the screen to the frame. I wouldn't want the screen to come off when the engine is running. Grumpy thanks for all the info and this is comming from a guy who's putting a ford in his Z. Don
  13. I don't know if I would worry about the oil pans of a ford as a 302 can fit behind the front crossmember. My 6Qt front sump pan is sitting just a little under the xmember and behind. That is as low as I could go and still clear the steering rack with the balancer. I think SCCA (Mike) is going to make one of Asil's (sp?) crossmembers. I think there is a link to some plans if you do a "search" on ford crossmembers. Don
  14. About 18 years ago I had my race bike do that. I was 12:1 and lean. Coils were not strong enough to fire a proper mixture and I didn't know it at the time. He didn't say but I suspect that this motor lived with boost?? Don
  15. I don't think a car would be that bad with armor all on the tread. I mean it would be worn off the tread in a mile or two wouldn't it. The morons are the motorcycle riders that do it. Ride it straight and it wears off and feels good but then lean it into a corner on the uncleaned tread (cleaned of armor all) that is when the fun starts. My guess it was the newness of the tires and his not being used to them. I don't know.
  16. I don't think any of the F1 engines use valve springs any more. I remember the Renault (sp?) in the early-mid 90's didn't have them and there was talk about them and now there is none, talk that is. There is talk of camless diesel engines because of the slow rpm but the control of the valves is not good enough for the type of RPM gas engines run. This what I think I know, but the older I get the more I find I don't know. I can try to find out in the next couple of days. Don
  17. Brad-man I know but I couldn't resist that is why the was there. I mean the C4 tranny has been around a lot longer than the C4 vette. It was ment to be all in fun. Don
  18. When I saw a pic of that model of car from a diffrent angle I thought it looked great. I was really surprised it was a toyota. Don
  19. Gee at the bottem of the page it said jump to the C4 forum. So they have a forum on ford transmissions?
  20. I would say it could be from a 240SX. That is only a guess but didn't the z32 have bushings in the front diff mounts? Don
  21. Ok if my wife asks I didn't post this. Go here and hit browse and see. Photos of wanabe brides?
  22. Why would you want the R200 in a camaro? That would be a tough swap, it would be easer to swap solid axle into a Z. There have been a few people who have back halfed their Z's. I am wondering why you could not put subframes in and tie into a ladder bar system in rather than backhalfing the car. Just my thoughts. Don
  23. Yes post a GOOD quality video where we can see both cars. I don't mind waiting for the download if the picture is good.
  24. Boy 240Z thats some strong talk. You better be able to back it up. If you guys do run be safe. Make sure you let us know who's bumper is dirty. Don
