  1. I'm cool with it. I'll leave it that MOST Hybridz members are sharp enough to know the difference between good customer service and bad. I'm curious when Justin builds his monster Z if he'll use the employee discount clutch hehe..
  2. Speeder, I think you are totally doing this forum a service by making it known and not letting them off the hook. That's the only way to fight back. Too many times biz peep shift the blame off themselves and get defensive when products don't live up to the advertised hype. Ohh MAYBE it was the installer's fault.....yeah right. From their previous show of customer service, my guess is this was an attempt to try and take this off-line and get it out of pubic domain.
  3. The only reason they are responsive now is because there is enough noise about it now and it's hurting their bottom line. Word gets around fast on the internet. Wonder when CF will get a clue?
  4. Thanks! Just what I needed to know.
  5. Can I use the same clutch disc from a normal l28 5 speed to T5 to a z31 to z32 tranny?
  6. That was insane!! Very cool vid!
  7. thehelix112, I see your point about reducing pressure underneath the car. I just am not certain that the net effect would be less lift. Visions of air born Mercedes CLR's keep rolling around in my noggin. I also seem to recall the bellypan of some Ferrari F50?(which didn't have aero problems) and it wasn't totally flat. It had venturis channeled down the sides and a diffuser at the rear. It all looked sculpted and rather complex. EMWHYR0HEN, Yeah it seems counter intuitive, look up Bernoulli effect. I guess our test pilot will let us know soon enough. Cheers!
  8. It's been done by several members. The ultimate test is if you can rotate the cam (with some lube in the bores) with two fingers.
  9. Nice job. Um, on the totally smooth bottom idea, wouldn't that make the z one big ol wing?
  10. I've done a few speeches, and dreaded every one. I feel for you so my advice is keep it simple. Tell your favorite funny story about your buddy, pay a compliment to the bride, and finish with a toast. Above all be prepared, but don't over do it by memorizing a speech word for word. It will usually come off sounding canned unless you're an accomplished speaker. You can't go wrong speaking what's in your heart. Just thinking of that funny story will help you relax a lot, and your feelings will be contageous and everyone will enjoy it. Before you know it, it will be over and you'll have done your buddy proud and wonder why you were stressing over it.
  11. The harbor freight compressors are a good deal especially if you can snag a 10% or 20% off coupon from their flyers or entertainment book. A good filter/air dryer is very important. I like this one because you can use regular toilet paper rolls for the filter (you'll have to experiment on which brands fit... try and find the rough stuff so it won't break down as easily and less chance of clogging your tools). http://www.spraygunworld.com/products/MotorGuard/Motorguard%20M30.htm Plumb it so your best filter is the closest possible to your outlet. I run 2 centrifugal types, 1 near the comp., and another just upstream the motorguard 25ft from my coupler, and I don't have any moisture issues. You may also want to run a $5 "last chance" filter at your gun. BTW, I'm sure you already know this, but run the comp. away from vapor zones.
  12. This thread first appeared like a needless smear on Norm's rep. I'm glad M. Kelly cleared up that Norm was extended some courtesy before banning him. Norm seems like a good guy as does John Coffey (though I've never met either) so it's a shame, but I feel the admins had little choice. In a related incident recently, another member's reputation was brought into question, and was banned from defending himself in a particular thread (I did not follow the out come of that soap opera.) As a result, some viewers only saw a one sided story. This calls to mind the principle of charity: that a person or group being criticized should be able to defend themselves. I think it's only fair. At the risk of sliding down the same slope as Norm, knowing that this site is NOT a democracy, I'll say it does not reflect well that action such as bannings are done on a whim --it's the very reason that makes this forum the best it's been -- it's knowledgeable and level headed members. This is not a rant on the management, I'm simply saying, now having a better picture of what was going on, I think it's best to just drop or lock it from here because of the above principle. In the end, it would be tragic irony to have to goto a lesser site such as zcar.com for more open mindedness.
  13. That looks amazing! Like a commercial for Nu-Finish or something...
  14. I've heard of the hardeners going bad.
  15. Use copper backing by cutting a piece of copper pipe and hammering it flat. Lap welds work better for thin stuff too, stronger, and easier. One of my favorite tools that I don't get to use enough is my pneumatic flanger. Flanger on one side, punch on other for plug welding the patch. I paid about $100 years ago before there was a HF around. I "think" I may have seen it for as little as $19. http://da.harborfreight.com/cpisearch/web/search.do?keyword=flanger&Submit=Go Plus it makes this kick arse PPSHT sound!!
  16. Maybe only the bigger outfits have the neutralizing baths. It can't be that hard, all it would take is some alkali to balance the ph. of an acid dip. If it is a basic/alkaline stripping solution, neutralize with acid. Vinegar and baking soda are cheap and readily available extemes of the ph. scale that are water soluble. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=763334 Some of those places can e-plate also. That's how the factory does it. http://www.metalfinishings.com/services.html
  17. Chemical dipping may be the ultimate. It gets in all the nooks and crannies where rust is hiding (inside rockers and frame rails). What's more important is preventing the rust from coming back, so if they have some some sort of high quality weldable primer dip aftewards that would be the ticket IMO.
  18. http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php?product=2262&cat= They're not Panasports, Minilights, Watanabe's or Black Racing. Did they make them in 16's?
  19. Whelp, Dealer price is $10/bolt and has to order them. I'm contemplating putting that $60 into a scatter shield instead and have a little more piece of mind. Norm, just curious around what RPM did "360 degrees of total carnage" happen? I'm not planning on reving much past 6500. OT: D83ZXT, can you post or PM me about the clutch deal you got. I called them twice and the sales guy didn't have a clue, but said if I got him part #'s he could hook me up. Thanks guys.
  20. I believe the turbo top ring is thinner than the NA.
  21. what record are you shooting for? Pics of the car and areo stuff would be cool.
  22. I have a Brand New CFDF that would suit your needs. I PM you the details.

    is this legal??

Funny I used to LOVE that game! Now that car was FAAAsst. Throw that baby in H and it was gone. Work up the nerve and floor it in top gear for more than 2 seconds and you were a dead man. I can just imagine that Peter Gunn music playing...
