For the budget, I always see a HF upright ~25G for around $159. It looks like it's cast iron cylinder. That size should be good for most jobs, like nailers, impact gun, light-moderate grinding, etc... However if you plan on running sander, die grinder, or paint spray much, you're going to need something bigger. If the compressor is not shutting off, you're overworking it. I killed my 20G 25yr old Craftsman by using a die grinder non stop last winter. The reed valves in the compressor head broke (I repaired it once before.) I could still buy parts for it, ran $50 bucks. All in all, it lasted a good long while. I now have a 60G unit. RE: Hose and connections I ran into bottlenecks all over the place. The hose ID looks good, but at the crimp it's smaller than 1/4! I ended up splicing in some 3/8 barbed NPT plugs and cutting off the factory crimps. I know it looks ghetto, but I KNOW I get more air. The 3/8 Automotive style quick couplers also improve flow over the normal 1/4 stuff. It's a whole nother head ache making sure everything is compatible. Same style coupler between manufacturers don't always mix well. I can't stand a leaky coupling! That hissing drives me crazy!!!!!!!

wasn't expecting that! It's like he didn't even try to turn in.

Now that is one Bad dog! I would've never thought that was possible.

FWIW, I heard Kevlar scatter blankets hold in heat. I myself would like an appropriate shield for the Z tranny. 1/4 inch mild steel should do it?

Rant continued...Kevin reactivated my "Unlimited" account today after my 4th email. He gave me a limit of 100 more searches. "Un" must be a missing concept in carfax speak, like UNlimited, UNsatisified, UNscrupulous. When my carfax ends and I still need a service, I'll try autocheck.com. They are a publicly traded company, so I think they'd be more responsive to customer service. They better be. And no I don't have any affiliation or financial connection with any of these companies...

BEWARE of carfax!! http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/carfax_unltd.html They outright lie. I got cut off 3/4 way through my contract. I've used their service soley for private use, maybe 50 or so reports for cars I am interested in. Turns out I am not alone in being screwed by them. Any lawyers want to take this up??

exploding whale...remind me not to live in Taiwan...
DemonZ replied to veritech-z's topic in Non Tech Board
Reminds me of a film we watched in Fisheries class back in college. A whale was beached somewhere off the coast of WA state in the 70's. Nobody had a way of removing the mountain of decay, bulldozers, tug boats, etc..., So somebody got the bright idea of blowing it up with dynamite. And so they did. They blew it up! What was captured on film next was the awesome power of dynamite, a long pause and seconds later, the sick sound of body thumping clumbs of whale plummeting back to earth, some hundred pounds or more. Folks scrambled for their lives, running for cover from hi velocity killer momentum whale blubber boulders. The camera shook, the scene a pink haze of misty putrid decay everywhere. I recall the film showing several cars damaged, a few men in now pink colored rain slickers which moments before were bright yellow. Luckily, no one was killed or seriously injured. I forget the size of the blast zone, but the whole town was affected. The town reeked for weeks it was said. That was a fun class. -
Carfax sucks. I purchased the unlimited 30day account. They put my account on hold for abnormally high usage (I am the only user, solely from my home computer). After emailing customer service, Chrissy told me the "pause" was lifted, and that she would not credit me 1 day for the inconvenience. BS!! I am still locked out. I'm totally pissed. Unlimited my arse!

Watanabe/Panasport Knockoffs deep dish!!!
DemonZ replied to dsommer's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
BTW, if they don't come with the perfect offset, maybe it's possible to fudge/shave a little off the flange depending on how thick it is. You would know when you went to design phase and FEA. -

cool joe d., For stock fenders and spring perches: I DO know positively 16x7 zero offset fits with a small bit of fender shaving (.25"), and there was at least .5" perch clearance with full suspension travel. There's really no more room on the fender side without flaring, and that's probably the biggest market, i.e., stock fendered. I am fairly sure then 16x7.5, +6 offset would fit. I do not know for sure. 16x8 max is the question. For adjustable coil overs, I believe 8.5 front and 9 wide in back is the max. Please correct me if I am wrong. Keep us posted. I'm sure there would be lots of interest. -

Sorry fo thread jacking. Someone with CNC skills could really do something with these blanks. $150 a piece for FORGED blank, + machining cost...., I think a group buy would be a sell out. http://centerlinewheels.com/sub_wheel.php?mw_id=37 -
Thanks guys, Thumper you have PM!

LOL. No scam or set up. BRAAP (I'm the schmuck who drove to your house and like an a$$ got TWO presents along the way...) can vouch that I am indeed a real person. I am totally serious about buying a boxster at a dealership in Houston but I live in WA. I don't know how *exactly* the criminal mind works, but please let me know your concerns. What I have in mind is pretty simple; I paypal you money, and you test drive the car, take pics, go over the body, interior, and email them to me with your impressions of the car, e.g. clutch slip, missmatched bad tires, possible bondo, worn soft top, chipped windshied, etc... and I close the deal with the dealer. My agent is never held responsible for anything, outside his own actions (I assume you are insured). If you have a death wish and do a top speed run and wrap it around a pole, then that's on you (I don't want you to beat on it THAT hard The dealer is reputable, but all I'm going by are HIS pictures (which don't reveal everything) and his word so far, and I would like someone on my side who is unbiased. If no one wants to drive it, I guess I can understand, then I will settle for a thorough walk around and pictures which would take maybe 2hrs. If you can only spare a "quick" walk around, I guess that's better than nothing for me. Common guys, anyone out there want to take me up on this? It's not that big of a deal. I don't want to get screwed either.

"...if you ask the guys at JTR, Jag engines don't even belong in Jags!" "That just made me think of the old joke,"Why do the English drink warm beer?" Because Lucas makes refrigerators" Funny!

I need a conscientious, mature, test driver in Houston, TX. You will drive inspect, take pictures and notes as if you were going to buy this car yourself. This is in the next few days. Basically you will be acting as my agent, for an out of state buyer. What a fun job! Get paid to drive a performance car?!! I imagine this will take from 3hrs to a full day, maybe split into 2 days depending on if it needs to be brought in to a specialist (hopefully not). I will pay you for your time. Please email me louho@hotmail.com Thanks. Admins, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Now that's inspiration! Happy birthday Scottie. We should all be so lucky. I just did brakes and axle work on my car and my hips are sore from rolling around on the ground. Oh and yes I am a lucky dog, my girl of 18 yrs supports my hobby.

goodson cam tower shim thickness .015 or .020?
DemonZ replied to GD71240z's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
That does not sound good IMO. I do not remember what brand I have, but all mine measured the same. If you stack 5, your error will be multiplied, and you'll be off by .025! I doubt the cam would even turn. -
I was like, "I don't get it??... Doah!!!" LOL!!
