  1. You need 2 lines for the LT1. Which side does you engine's lines com out on? Mine came from a 94 Z28 so the line are on the driver's side. Rather than route them aross the engine bay I picked up some Corvette quick release stalinless lines . I cut them off a bit and re-flared them, not easy with stainless. They run down just along the firewall at the wheel well. I then used 3/8" inlet and 5/16" return brake line running inside the frame, up and across the diff to the passenger side to my filter and then to my Z28 fuel tank. The lines are held up with those rubber coated clamps.
  2. Me too. When I found it by searching their site was still up but nobody answered emails. A few weeks later it was posted here they were out of business. SO I made my own using a solid sheet of 1/8" fiberglass and some home made bezels to house 85 Corvette tail lights. If I could weld I think it might have been easier to do in metal, LOL.
  3. I ran consistent 12.9s with a stock 120,000 mile LT1 in my 2905 pound 280Z. 4L60E automatic allowing the trans to shift itself. 3:54 open rear gear, only engine modes are cold air intake and shorty headers.
  4. I can't help with the distributor part of your problem since I kept the Opti. But I had the same issue with the headers and the steering shaft. First, did your cut the corner off your motor mounts like that manual says? I also noticed the two headers are identical and will fit on either side. One of them fit better on the drivers side. If you look closely you'll see Sanderson's quality control isn't all that good for position of the pipes in the flanges, mine were off by 1/8". I still ended up having to grind off the Sanderson emblem on the driver's side to get clearance, but it is tight. I did slot the Datsun mounts but by the time I got the engine positioned I was in the middle of the slot.
  5. I had that same issue with my 280Z when I swaped the LT1 using JTR's driveshaft flange. It is bigger than the stock Datsun flange. Mine only hit when the car was in reverse. I ended up just removing the sway bar, don't really need it the all the power I have. The 280Z has welded in sway bar mounts so modifing them to lower the sway bar wouldn't be easy, don't know about a 260Z.
  6. Here's the schematic from the GM manual for a 95 Fbody.
  7. Yeah its only about 40 miles. Been there but its not somewhere I go often.
  8. Thanks. I know thats right, a full year with maybe 2 weeks I didn't work on the car would take a long time to get over if something horrrible happened. .
  9. Thats true, my house does not show my garage I built a year and a half ago in arial view. But the birds eye view does.
  10. Yeah that no doubt added some weight the the rear of the car. Might help with traction with my LT1, LOL. I did'nt put any of that in for crash protection. It was to hang the fuel tank and add structure to replace what I removed, I did cut out a lateral piece of frame that went around the spare tire well. All this is welded to the double sheetmetal uni-body frame members so I don't know how much good it would really do in a rearend crash. I am no frame expert.
  11. Not the best pict but basically I rebuilt the trunk area to put in the Camaro fuel tank. Across the back there are two pieces of angle steel. One is 1" and the one you can see is 2". Across the front is a 2" piece and the pieces running fore and aft a 2x1 square tube and a 4X1 square tube running across it the replace the spare tire frame member I cut out. Its all welded to the body.
  12. Are you sure you have the polarity for the LEDs correct? They will only work one way.
  13. You have a car that is very low to the ground and weighs less than 3000 pounds. The 240Z bumpers are a joke. Remember the 260Z - 280Z bumpers were designed to prevent body damage in a 5 MPH crash to help the insurance companies, not to protect the passengers. Any real hit in the back of our cars is going to result in major damage no matter what bumper you're running. I pulled those heavy 280Z bumpers off my car and replaced them with fiberglass one from MSA. I did add and large piece of steel across the back inside the body when I put in my new fuel tank so I suppose that will be some protection but not much. One thing to think about is what is legal, most states require some sort of bumpers.
  14. I bought this rear disc setup in my 280Z a few years ago from an individual but didn't really know where it all came from or who supplied them. They have been on the car for a couple years and working fine. I thought they were 280zx but research here leads me to believe it is a MM kit using early 300zx rotors and 240ZX calipers. The caliper mounting bracket looks like the MM one. The rotor diameter is about 11.4". I certainly should have done more research when I first bought these or at least asked better questions. So do I have 300zx rotors and 240zx calipers and the MM? From MM's website for their Kit My setup My caliper
  15. '60 robin egg blue Ford Fairlane $400 inline 6 cylinder, 3 speed on the column, I hated that car. I kept it for 6 months and traded it off on a brand new '65 Sunbeam Tiger $3250.
  16. I ran all new hard fuel lines. You want 3/8" and at least 5/16" return for a LT1. I used 3/8" brake lines in both directions. I ran them along the driver side along the inside of the frame rail and crossed over the diff to pick up my filter and pressure sending unit that reside behind the rear fender well, my fuel pump is in my Z28 fuel tank. At the engine I picked up some quick disconnect LT1 Corvette stainless lines, cut them to fit and flared the ends (not fun with stainless) to match the 3/8" brake lines. I have short pieces of FI hose from the tank to my filter to take up any vibration. BTW the LT1 only requires 40 psi, not 60 psi. You can buy the quick disconnect fittings and use hoses if you want or just find some from any GM car. The hose will slip ove the flare in the fittings.
  17. These may be some help to you: http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/lt1%20wiring.doc http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/LT1280Z_lite.doc http://www.dejavideo.net/280z8/The LT1 harness.doc right click and save
  18. LOL, ya know I knew that. What was I thinking????? I guess thats why it says GVWR right in front of that number.
  19. The door post on my 77 280Z says it weighs 3203 lbs. Strange, since I know I added weight on my LT1 swap with a 4L60E tranny, AC, baddog frames and a lot of metal added to install the Camaro fuel tank. The only thing that is lighter is the fiberglass bumpers and the Z06 Corvette seats. It weighed in ar 2905 with a fukk tank of gas.
