  2. Hey john I was wondering If this will help you. I ran into a similar problem of not enough oil capacity, I also could not find a pan big enough at a price small enough. Then I looked at my other car. It has a front mounted oil cooler that is about 2.5" thick 8 inches tall and about 30" wide made of aluminum and has Banjo fittings on the inlet and outlet sides they can be found on all Mazda RX-7's made between 1986-1992 the JY's should have a few of them I got mine for about $25 I hope this helps. 7. did it work ever? It sounds as though you may have a small leak internal that is applying the low clutch pack but no smoke for a full foot acell? what mods were done to the tranny when it was rebuilt is there a shift kit installed? if so what type and stage? I'll be able to give you a better answer tomorrow. Keith

  10. Well after digging out my old text books I found my notes on five gas theroy and here goes. a very high CO and very low O2,NOx with a mid low CO2,and HC indicates an A/F of about 10:1 you are to LEAN!!! the trick to controlling CO emissions during combustion is to make sure you have the right amount of O2 and fuel in the mix you want enough O2 to form CO2 but not so much that you develop a lean misfire A lean misfire decreases performance and increases HC emissions When the mix is rich the engine produces a lot of CO As the mix passes the stoichiometric (14.7:1) ideal and goes lean When the mix is lean CO levels out and the curve no longer indicates anything CO is only a useful indicator of a rich mix. sorry for the long response but this is a very involved subject Keith
  11. Yea I figured I would give it a shot but I finally found a machine shop that would do the job in a timly manner and at a fair price!! thanks for the advice everybody. Keith
  12. I picked up some moroso studs at a swap meet lask week and the knurl size is .560 what size should I drill my hubs to? I figure .010 is a good interference fit but the closest fractional bit is 35/64" or 0.546 sounds good right? Well try and buy this bit every hardware store in the area tells me I'm on crack it does not exist and the can't order it if it did!! what am I to do?? Keith

    Quick 700R4 help

82 - 92 f-body's use a torque arm a good mout from a chevy truck (late model)will fit and be easy to find you do not need the caprice tail housing there will be to bolt holes on the case just before the tailshaft extenion housing that you can use Keith
  18. For the one peice gaskets try summit racing if you want to use the four peice just hammer the bolt holes flat ( rap them with a small hammer on the gasket flange side to remove any distortion caused by over tightening) then install your gasket using the before mentioned sealer and tighen the bolt to 120" lbs making sure to hit each bolt 3 times you will have no leaks!!! Keith

  23. Thanks for answering that one for me grump. I may not be as long in the tooth as you but I had some VERY good teachers as I grew up around some very good hotrodders you were older than dirt but a great bunch of guys you didn't mind some young kid hanging around asking stupid questions all day. 24. will a 71 and 73 console interchange? I owe one to a member and want to make sure it will fit before I ship it Thanks again Keith
  25. most of the info posted so far here is correct. the 200 I think you are refering to is a 200 metric unit that was placed behind most of the buicks with chevy engines(any body remember that class action)these are very weak and 3 speeds the grand national 200 and all other 200 overdrives is in the valve body they are very strong stock but can be made indesrtuctable. PS I work in a high performance tranny shop please feel free to ask any tech Q's you may have. Keith
