Ive seen a few conversions and the #1 spark plug was dead over the sway bar but the car handeled VERY well I just wish I had taken som better pix of the car as now I have no idea were the car is or who owns it!!!!!! Keith
I'm not sure what fourum to post this in ( I'm sure the moderater will move it if this is the wrong one ) Im trying to put a SBC into my 87 rx-7 for less than the cost of a 200HP rotor motor. Do you guys know of a company that makes a good kit? I've heard of gearbox grannys but have not heard many goodthings about them on the net. Have any of you delt with them? I would hate to get burned as the kit aint cheap!! Keith
A 350 can be built hydralicly but the geartrain is quite small. I would opt for a TH-400 if budget and MPG were not an issue a 'glide is bulletproof (you only use 2 stock gm parts(and one of them is NOT the case)) Keith
if the blower was used on the motor you are using it mostlikly has a dished pistons. low compression
and high performance just don't go together get a new set of slugs and you should be were you want to be. While you are at it I would make sure your converter matches you motor (the stall speed will be different on a blower motor) then with any extra money you have please find an overdrive trans you mpg will go up and will be a lot easyier to drive on the street. just my thoughts. Keith
I PVGP is a lot off fun I was ther a few years ago with the rx-7 club you DEFANITLY want to park on the hill as the walk from Pitts upper campus is a hike PS bring WATER the sun can be a DEATH TOOL I have a 10x14 canapy the wife bought me for shade at car shows I'll bring it for some relief Hope to see a bunch of you My car wont be there But I will Keith
Hey mike they are 1.25 1.25 pistons but he said he will buy them back if I buy the 1.75 1.62 from him new I did not pay much so I think ebay may be the best way to unload them How much for a set of parts for coil overs for my 280z tubes I can only afford to do the fronts now also can I get your input on the mods I should do to the tubes? I have cut the lower perch and that is about it. Keith
OK so i cut the spring perch off the 280 struts cut 2" out off the tube(removing the factory weld point)weld a bead on the tube to hold the sleeve drop in a 1980 rabbit cart add a 5" sleeve button it up using the short 240 isolater and put it back in the car. what do the sleeves cost? Does the O.E.M. upper spring perch hold the new spring? If so what mods must be done to it? Thanks again Keith
They are 1.25/1.25 pistons and setup for 1.25 disks He bought them on impulse for a street car that never came to fruition. I hope these will work!!!! I would love to see these on my car if not E-Bay here they come!! Keith
I'm painting my front suspension this week and decided to go coil-over. is there a better strut tube? I have a set of 240's and 280's I remember reading that they have different O.D.'s I read that shortening the tubes is unneeded with 16+" wheels any input here? also should I use the short 240z upper insulaters or the later tall 280's? Keith
Also anybody have a recomendation on new strut cart's? I've read everything from rabbit to mr2 and even z cart's(but who puts z parts on a z car?) the car will be lowered but needs a decent suspesion travel as a LOT of street miles will be seen. Thanks again Keith
I stopped by a dirt car chassis shop the other day and picked up 2 outlaw 4000 calipers (used) what rotors do I need to fit these to my Z? I have five lug hubs from a z-31 (the kind were the rotors bolt on from the back). Thanks Keith
That would be easy if I knew what pistons were in the motor I'm cleaning them up now looking for a brand or part number I've been looking at PAW's parts book and a new set of pistons might not be out of my pocket I'll see what I find out when this piston comes out of the claening tank. Keith
OK so one piston should do me but how important is an EXCACT match or will REAL close be good enough? I was planning on driving out to Summit Racing and having them match me up one. the 7 that I did not break are forged so I'll get one of those I was not sure about running a mixed set I'm guessing I'll need to have this re-balanced? Keith
I was tearing down a good 327 just to check a few things (bearings rings mike the bores etc) long story short I dropped the #3 piston and broke the skirt. Can I replace just one or should I buy a new set? the bores are good just going to run new rings. The pistons are aftermarket flat tops. If I need new at what point do I need forged? will cast last or should I split the difference and go hyperutectic? the car will be a 2nd gen rx-7 mid power (300 hp) automatic w/4:10 rears carbed daily driven a curb weight of about 3000 lbs Thanks Keith
I have the supra 712 on my rx-7 and love them I test drove a 92 F-Body with the touring tyres you are asking about and found them to be a bit noisy and choppy on moderate cornering (this car is not a leight weight) I would pop a few more bucks and go for the ecsta712's Keith
