  1. My uncle designed this: http://www.scangage.com/ I have the first generation and it records a lot of cool statistics along with reading trouble codes.
  2. I haven't used Adobe Premier since version 6 or so, but I never really liked it. Last time I tried Windows Movie Maker it was just a big turd and couldn't even do full resolution. This was around 2002 or 2003 though, and I have heard Adobe Premier is a lot better. The best [cheap] movie editing software I have used it iMovie, but that requires a Mac. If you are a student you can land a cheaper version of Avid Media Composer (what the pro's use) called "Avid Xpress Pro" for about $300. From personal experience, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer are the best around. Unfortunately, the former is $1300 and requires a Mac, the latter is $5000.
  3. That Z was on there for awhile, but according to his most recent listing (a 5.0 and AOD for $900), the Z was sold without the engine and tranny.
  4. My L28ET was missing it's rear hoist bracket, so here's a pic of what I did: The piece of chain going to the far right is threaded through another bolt on the passenger side. I would have centered the middle portion of chain, but I was pulling the tranny too. The chain was pretty thick, and I couldn't rethread the head bolts too much - but it held long enough to get it on a stand.
  5. Here's some pic's of the destruction I hath wrought. The second pic is looking downwards. I only later decided to take off the hinges, so I didn't have much room to work with - thus, I accidently cut into a portion of it I didn't have to. But hey, with the fenders off it now looks like a real long-term project
  6. Too late, I bought a Harbor Freight 3" air cutter, and cut away at the bucket until it seperated from the fender. Whatever they used to attach the two did not get too far under the metal, so I didn't have to cut away too much. All of the metal is still good on the car - I won't be replacing the fenders. Worst rust I've found so far is some large patches of surface rust inside the cowl and some big bubbles in the cargo area.
  7. Atleast, it seems welded. If it isn't a weld, it is definately fused together strongly. My question is this: how do I get it off? Here's a picture of the general area, it's the passenger side headlight bucket on the grill side: Here's a closeup of the weld: I was banging at it with a Phillips head and a hammer, wasn't working very well though. I was thinking of taking my air-hammer to it with a long, flat bit - or maybe see if I can get a saw in there. Unfortunately, I do not have a welder. Any comments or ideas?
  8. Why not just run a same side intercooler? Something like these: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=same+side+intercooler&category0=
  9. In Lethal Weapon, the 2 main characters are sitting on a freeway overpass right after they save the jumper. As they are sitting there an S130 followed by an S30 pass by - by themselves (not part of traffic).
  10. A couple of people mentioned white, but no one threw in a picture.
  11. Erm, wow, I thought this horrible trend didn't exist outside of the US: 1990 Honda Accord
  12. This just showed up on eBay. Seems to be lots of history behind it. Seems like he's done a number of modifications to it though, new engine and such. And then there is stuff like: That part seems kind of lame.
  13. Another euro car with a leftover Datsun engine on Craigslist: http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/car/209984962.html This one is a lot cooler overall, and has engine pics!
  14. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/207665334.html
  15. From the JTR Volvo page: This is with the same exact engine: JTR Volvo Lots of good info on their site (including performance and weight figures).
  16. You have to keep in mind where this guy was coming from engine-wise, this was a major upgrade. As per power output, shouldn't a 305 should make about 15% less power than a 350? How wide of tires can you fit under the back of one of those Volvo's? Not much point in putting a 400hp V8 in a car with 185 series tires...
  17. Veritech - You are correct, here was the description posted near them:
  18. How not to tow a race car: This guy beat the all time track record by 1.2 seconds: Misc. racing pic's:
  19. I snapped nearly 500 pictures and some videos while I was up there. Was tough cutting them down but here are my favorites. Started with the Concourse Italiano on Friday, saw a few Ferrari's: Even saw a Z there: And these: Then there was the Laguna Seca pits: And the Datsun section of the Paddock: 345 series tires:
  20. The base of the strut towers are 29 5/8 inches apart, the top outer edge is 31 1/2 inches apart. They are 15 1/2 inches tall. That means that they run 1 7/8 inches inward over 15 1/2 inches of height. Seems to calculate out to about a 6.5 degree run at a little over 15.6 inches going up the side of the strut tower (according to a triangle calculator). Well, I didn't learn how to convert inches to mm until my senior year in high school (in Chemistry for some reason). They didn't even teach it in Physics, oddly enough. I swear I fell asleep during all the important classes in elementary school or something.
  21. I just remember 25mm to an inch (though I just googled it and it is actually 25.4). Google makes unit conversions really easy too. For example, search for "25 inches to mm" and it will give you the conversion at the top. This works for almost any unit of measurement, including some really obscure ones.
  22. I bought this turbo header from fellow member Bluto in January: (Please ignore the backwards turbo) The description was a little sparse in dimensions and didn't mention what size wastegate the header accepts. Here is a picture with the dimensions: Can anyone help me out with the proper wastegate size? In my searches I read in a very old post that "40mm" wastegates have a 35mm inlet... Also, can anyone tell me whether this size wastegate will be big enough for my ArizonaZcar GT40 turbo?
