  1. Why start from scratch? http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u30616349 And if you're curious, pop it in here to get a somewhat english idea of what's going on: http://translate.google.com/translate_t?sl=ja&tl=en#
  2. Actually, the Wangan Z was the boss of TXR Zero, but not TXR 3. I never beat TXR 1 and 2, so I don't know about them.
  3. http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/07/datsun-xlink-concept-compact-4door.html Well it's not Nissan sanctioned, but the idea of a resurrecting Datsun as a Scion competitor is quite interesting.
  4. I have been using craigshelper in recent months and like how it works. Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't work with Safari, works fine on Firefox though.
  5. The speedo is in Km/H, it has 20000 miles on it.
  6. I remember someone posting pictures of a mid-engine Z with a Maxima engine and transaxle. I think it also had a sort of 'lazy Susan' in the center that could drop down and allow the car to do 360's. I think it was posted on the non-tech board maybe 6 months ago. Or maybe I'm just going crazy.
  7. I bet it belongs to John S. Just kidding. I love the jackstand treatment though, jackstands and Z-cars just go together so well.
  8. Found this link in the video's description. Have seen the newer version of this video before, but didn't think there was an actual explanation to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turboencabulator
  9. Yeah, my dad said the same thing. Problem is finding one without actually going out and buying one. A friend offered to teach me on his Honda for a ride in the Ferrari.
  10. It's pretty nice, my dad always wanted a Ferrari and he's definitely not babying his first one. It is actually his daily driver. I got a ride to and from the airport in it, and have gone with him to the market in it. He actually tried to teach me stick in it and I stalled it three times and eventually got the computer to go into lockdown as it was overheating. I know I'm gonna catch some flak for this comment (especially on this board), but after trying to learn on the 360 I am still firmly under the impression that the work vs. benefits of a manual transmission are not worth it. To each their own, eh?
  11. I'm sure this has been posted before, but I don't hang around this section of the forum all too often. I took these pictures in December last year at a Motor-for-Toys" event. The car had a license plate frame from one of the bigger Z-shops, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, my Z is a jackstand racer so I had to ride shotgun in a Ferrari 360: As part of the penis-parade to the event:
  12. This version was posted on here a long time ago: Also found one of my more favorite Monty Python sketches while looking for that one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=P_D7WtOHZd0
  13. The way I read the article, it seems like it goes 50 miles on a charge at which point there is a backup gasoline generator just in case. Buying gasoline for your car just because the old gas has gone bad sounds like a funny scenario.
  14. I could go on about all the minor nuances that I did not like about my Element, but will summarize with it was minimal but reliable. My only major complaints was the lack of power and the constant rattles from all over the car after about 30k miles. I'm sure that with both passenger seats folded flat you could fit a 10 ft. board. Some of the things I did: Bed frame: 32" Pizza: Trees through rear sunroof (drove on the freeway like this):
  15. Wow, it's a small world. My uncle (and Godfather) is the one who designs and sells the ScanGauge. Worked at Motorola as an engineer for years, this is sort of his retirement hobby. I really liked mine, until I looked at the horrible gas mileage my Honda [Element] got the way I drove it. Google image search. Oddly enough, it took numerous queries to find a picture of a really riced out hatchback.
  16. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/526445401.html This one isn't as funny, but quite a case of wishful thinking in the pictures.
  17. I actually went back and added allegedly right before I posted. I knew some would question his non-wind-tunnel testing methods.
  18. While I agree that it is quite hideous, I don't see why any of you are questioning the owner's intelligence. He is at the least very knowledgeable on the subject of aerodynamics. So, he made a '92 Civic Hatchback look uglier - this makes him stupid? I would say that he just created the most functional Honda body kit ever made. Function over form - to me - is what separates the true car enthusiast from the ricer. And, to lighten the mood of my post - a reminder of how this car could have turned out:
  19. Found this article on wired.com about the "Aerocivic." According to the article, the guy who built it spent about $400 on materials, but now gets up to 95 MPG. Some links from the article: A thread the owner started on ecomodder forum. Pictures of the car and the building process. How he measured his coefficient of drag. A German site showing pre-WWII German aerodynamic experiments (hit the tour button at the bottom to see lots of pictures). I realize his testing methods aren't the most scientific, and that his photo gallery states 80 MPG and his user on the forum states 64 MPG. Still some interesting reading, and gives a good visualization of aerodynamic mods. Boy is it ugly, though.
  20. I wouldn't go for wireless-n at the moment unless you were planning on doing file transfers across your wireless network often. As was stated earlier, the two generation old wireless-b standard is still considerably faster than most broadband internet connections. If you want to push your network to great distances, then wireless-n is worth is too. Here's a study I found, pages 11-12 compare throughput of wireless G vs. N. http://www.netgear.com/upload/marketingasset/competitivecharts/wireless_n_performance_study_12-12-06.pdf By the way, Newegg has a wireless-n router for $40 after mail in rebates. Reviewed at 4 out 5 eggs, though out of stock until Christmas day. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156052
  21. I think what you are referring to is called sequential turbo's. Twin turbo's - to me - implies that the turbos are the same size, each taking care of half of the engine.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Swzbt76wBM A couple of links away from your video; that one makes me cringe.
  23. Heads up to all the Los Angeles people. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/car/463392791.html Sure, it isn't smog exempt and isn't running. But it's probably damn near rust free with a decent paint job and near running - quite a deal for $600. Ok, so it is a salvage titled car too...
  24. Why not a 70's VW: the Porsche 914. Light, probably aerodynamic, and comes with a 5 speed stock if I'm not mistaken. Usually quite a few hanging around without engines, too.
