Whoa I dont know if I would take it THAT far, lol. Cobras are quick stock and thier stock internals can handle some good power...but the 2JZ is legendary for its ability to make massive power and survive. Also, considering the MKIV supras engine was produced in 1993 versus the cobras 2003 says alot. I am a musclecar guy through and through but I must give credit where it is due. If anything, the Supra makes the Cobra look 'girly' IMO...and it does it with 10 year older technology and only 3.0 liters. OK Im going to stop before I refer to vtec or some ♥♥♥♥...

WOW that was very inspirational! You just made me start playing again. I am going to go grab my axe and amp out of storage today and have a go! I dont think my 2yo has ever seen a guitar before so this will be fun..lol Thanks!

I personally think a great candidate for swapping in a 4 cylinder is the 2.4L turbo in the Dodge SRT4. They make more torque than a 2.4L should seemingly be capable of..and at lowish revs too. The aftermarket is HUGE and cheap. This same block is being used in RWD applications already so it would likely work in a Z. The engine looks to be fairly short on the height scale, which is good. You can safely make close to 500Whp on stock internals...hello? This engine with some boltons in a light Z chassis would fly!

Guys around Michigan area, TAKE A LOOK!
Racin_Jason replied to alexideways's topic in Non Tech Board
Jeez that has potential, huh? nice find -
the ergonomics are terrible for most people. The shifter/pedals/seating position was apparently designed and OKed by a gorrilla (long arms, short legs). They are great cars though and have been on my radar for purchase given the right deal came along.

Maybe I am just the minority here..but I dont see anything funny about that video. Putting a living creature in an unescapable device and forcing it to run for its life is not my idea of entertainment I guess..

Hell I need some door panel also! My only requirement is that they are black and atleast in decent shape. Fell free to PM me if you are selling some.

Harbor Freight all the way! Add a nice stereo system to your Z -or- save the weight and enjoy the exhaust!

These ads are not very annoying (IMO anyways) compared to alot of marketing ploys I see on the net these days. So far I dont have a problem with them here at HybridZ. Especially if they help Dans bottom line when the monthly bills start pouring in...again.

Very nice looking from what I can see. I have never seen that car around SD nor have I heard about it. Seems odd that the owner wouldnt drive it when he is obviously taking good care of it (and did ALL that work, or paid for it..). Id like to see it in person

Dirt Biking, weight loss and the freakin "Nutrisystem" diet...
Racin_Jason replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
Aint that the truth! Dirtbikes work muscles you didnt even know you had. I remember the muscle pain on the inner/upper thighs (from gripping the tank with your legs) was always a bitch. I need to rebuild the carb on my KTM 350... -
New headlight conversions for 240,260,280Z's
Racin_Jason replied to chepito's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Ive been kicking around the idea of sealing in the headlight buckets and molding them to the fender. Then using small OEM projector type lights mounted behind the grill. I always loved the look of sealed headlight buckets (done right) but always thought the fullsize headlamps behind the grill stood out too much. Id like to see some conversions also though. -
congrats to you both!

Nice looking car. So your CHP pal makes it sound like the historical plates are nothing more than a personalized touch. It would be fantastic if the plate gave the car a certain leiniency from thje police here in CA. Lord knows we can use all the help we can get (with drivetrain swaps especially). Im curious to learn more about these custom vehicle plates. I have been told by more than one person that they DO give a buffer for a would-be ticketing officer, but I have no proof of the fact. 17 x 9 wheels...Here we go again...
Racin_Jason replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Well if you are on coilovers you should be able to get a 245/45 or even a 245/40 onto a 9" wide wheel and they will fit in the front (with the right backspacing). However, if you are on stock struts I am afraid you are out of luck. 225mm is the widest to fit in the front I believe and a 9" wheel is just too much for a 225 series 17" tire. -
Anybody have any _________ dreams they want to share?
Racin_Jason replied to 280zwitha383's topic in Non Tech Board
I have dreams of adding twin turbo's to the 355 in my Z. Cruising down the freeway to the soothing turbine whistle. Laying in wait for the next unsuspecting victim to take notice of my lowered stance and large rolling stock, thinking they might have found some easy prey. Its the dead of night and we line up at around 70mph. On the signal I rocket away as if the other car is anchored to a tree. The acceleration is rediculous and downright scary...but I like it! The tires claw for all the traction they can muster. The cockpit is filled with the scream of the turbos as I watch the speedo rapidly sweep through its range in just a few seconds. I let off to the sharp sound of boost pressure being released and look at the dot in my rearview that was my competition. My heart is racing, my face is grinning and I still have 10+ psi to tune in! Then theres the one where im falling.. -
People talk about having a fast street car. Some are talking about thier plug wires and shiny catback adding "fiddy HP...atleast!". Others discuss thier cam choice or 60ft tricks. Then there are a select few who have been there and now have grown into gearheads. Gearheads who own some truly quick, street-going rods that are into the 10s, if not tickling 9s on DOT rubber. Then there are the rare lunatics, like the guy in that video! These rare but marvelous characters have a relationship with speed like a crackhead has with the pipe. They are usually MacGuyver'ish and design/fab parts in a pinch but are not afraid to spend good money to go fast. After steadily graduating from faster car to faster car, they eventually snowball into full lunatic mode and build scary, balls-out rides like that Z. This i when they are, by far, the most fun to watch! Not only have they built this monster but they arent afraid to use it. A fearless right foot and balls that clank, coupled with better than 1000HP makes for quite a trip 8s..on the street..THAT is a fast street car. :wow:
