  1. Here is some pics I took today of my '79 810 *Front Koni, modified stock springs *Rear Bilstein, Quickor springs *5-Speed Conversion (pedal set in) *L28E Swap (1 month away) Before
  2. I just talked to my machinist, he just got the crank back and I need bearings that are .010. For my turbo applications and high horsepower (400RWHP) is there a big difference other than price in comparing Nissan or Clevite bearings? I know Clevite are made out of tri-metal cast copper lead. What are Nissans made out of and does it really matter? My machinist said most of the import guys he deals with are using ACL. Has anyone used these and do they even make them for a Z? Recommendations? Thanks

  5. Is there such a thing, or do I need to "splice" it in *ouch* to the stock harness. I'm starting to purchase the electronics today and have been searching for a solution. The timer I'm going to buy is: Blitz Dual Turbo Timer DCII. Thanks,
  6. I'm running a SC-61 with TEC3. I plan on having the exhaust manifold made but I'm wondering if I can get the horsepower I want (400RWHP) with the N42 or should I go all out and get a custom one. For the custom intake which will include a Q45 T/B that I'm supplying will run me $750. This is using stock bungs (to lesson the cost) however, I'm wondering if getting an ALL OUT custom one with custom bungs to place them further back on the runners and allow more bungs for the PCV, and blow by in front of the throttle body if that will be a better option. I'm going to call the shop and see what they think and how much more it will cost too. I know this manifold has been used in the past as well as custom ones. If I don't have to over due it and get the same results using the stock intake then I will.
  7. I have 550cc NISMO injectors coming and a friend is giving me a new Weber throttle body. I already have an N42 intake manifold. With the Weber, injectors, port matching the intake and hogging out the end of the plenum to help with flow does the N42 flow well enough to help me reach my 400RWHP? My friend is suggesting to try the N42 route with above mentioned setup verses getting my custom intake manifold and Q45 T/B made. He said if it doesn't work then I can go the custom route. Am I wasting my time and has the N42 been proven in a turbo application in reaching this level of performance? The original plan was to use the injector bungs off of a stock EFI manifold and the fabricator was going to make the primary plenum and secondary runners to the bungs. My friend said with the N42 intake all my vacuum ports, PCV, and blow-by fittings are there. He is telling me that I need to vent the blow by hose in front of the throttle body like the factory did instead of using a K&N breather filter. Also he said that I should keep the crank vent tube and still use a PCV. Is this really necessary?? Thanks,
  8. Thanks SR240Z, I PM'ed you a while back and you told me about Joji and wheelchoice. How did you mount your flares? Did you have to cut the fenders too? Did you get your flares from classicdatsun or Japan.
  9. Kubo, They are Type R Watanabe. Funny you say that I found a picture on RS Watanabe site of a ZG with the exact same wheels and offset. If flares are my only option does anyone have any tips on mounting them and what hardware to use. I heard horror stories of guys in Japan that after putting flares on and not treating the insides the wheel wells rusted out. How should I treat the inside POR 15/ Rust Bullet? My fender lips are perfect and wheel arches are straight with no rust. I wish there was a way to mold them on instead of drilling holes in the damn body.
  10. I asked Ron his opinion on port matching and he said I have a story for that. Ron said back in the 80's Champion Spark Plugs had a small block on the dyno. They ran it stock and recorded the numbers. Ron said they elongated the holes on the intake a 16th of an inch on either side of center. After the first run they loosened the intake bolts and moved it to the left a 16th ran again and moved it to the right the other 16th. He said that there was no difference in the dyno readings. So his final thought was port matching is a waste of time, concentrate your time somewhere else. My questions are: ~Does this apply only to V-8? ~Have gains been recorded on port matching a Z head? ~I know V-8s have huge valves compared to any Z head so would this apply only to V-8s?
  11. Placed order today: *16x8.5 -6 *16x9.5 -19 *Gunmetal w/ machined lip *Watanabe black center caps *Watanabe lugs and locks 6-8 Weeks... I'm so happy, I finally bit the bullet... You know I will post pics when I get them...
  12. Yes new in the box. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7975470659&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT
  13. Sexy... Did the block get powder coated? What is your take on doing that since you don't chime in my "boring" threads anymore
  14. Just picked up a set of NISMO 550cc injectors for $500... I also picked up the Walbro GSL392 for $100. Does anyone know where I can get -6 AN barbed fuel fittings? I just got my Aeromotive FPR from Summit and it has no barbed fittings either....
  15. Well I ordered my cam through Ron at Isky yesterday. He was very helpful, nice guy and had some great stories too. Here are the specs: *Custom Ground *Lift 490 intake, Lift 480 exhaust *290 intake duration, 280 exhaust duration *1/14 lobe center ?? He said this cam will keep overlap down, help increase throttle response, and assist in my quest for no turbo lag. Other than that I'm stoked. I'm also getting springs, retainers and lash pads from him. So the only thing I need is new Nissan rocker arms. He did have a great story on port matching if anyone wants to hear it, not long.
  16. I think your right. However, I do plan on getting the valve cover, lower alternator bracket and diff coated to match my suspension. I just **** $2000 at MSA so I'm not feeling the $600-$800 powdercoat job. Plus I would hate for something to happen to the block then all that money will be wasted.
  17. Well I had these 16x7 0 offset 16x8 0 offset with 225/50 245-45 on my 240Z on a loan type trial from my friend. Now without my coil-overs it would be close if not impossible to make those work. Joji said he was going to call RS Watanabe and see what offset will work on my stock fender, none flair 240Z. He should be calling me back with an answer today.
  18. Talk to Joji and http://www.wheelchoice.com they had the best prices and support.
  19. Here are my choices: For the fronts will 16x8.0†zero offset work? I have fitted 16x7 Epsilons with 225-50-16 with no issue. and for the rear here are my choices: 16x8.5†-6 offset 16x9.0†-13 offset 16x9.5†-19 offset I don't plan on running flares, the fenders and quarters are stock 240Z. Does anyone have any insight on this??
  20. Correct you are 1 day 9 hours left. I have 11 people watching so it could get ugly at the end... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7973765319
  21. Not according to Nissan, maybe they were resprays oh well.
