  1. I got this descripton of the problem from the P.O. "when i had the lsd on the car it when driving normal and release the clutch slow its normal. but when shifting fast and release the clutch fast. i hear a noise in the back of the car. its like an end lift or something. i don't know the what they call it when the lsd is worn out." You guys think replacing the bearings will fix this?
  2. apparantly the PO didn't even try to fix it, he just elected to repalce the whole diff. he did't want to get his hands dirty i guess.. marking compound= layout blue? and i'm just looking for an even wear pattern on the gears right? should i do all the gears on the inside of the limited assembly too?

  5. I've seen the part that eliminates the aws, it's pretty much just a bar, i don't remember where i saw it...but it's possible.

I just picked up an VLSD R230 from a 300zx TT, {$50 bucks} and the previous owner said that it made noise that sounded like it was worn out when he downshifted on the freeway, and dropped the clutch hard. He also said it drove fine around town... There seems to be no apparent damage to the gears, and there wasn't a lot of metal on the magnetic plug, so I'm thinking [hoping] it's just the bearings, or maybe even just that it needed new oil, anybody have any ideas about this? I've also heard about the viscous lsd fluid wearing out too? Could that be causing the noise?

  8. i just scored an r230 for 50 bucks, [ i don't have it yet] apparently, it makes noise if you downshift on the freeway...

  10. My local welding shop wants 55 bucks to fill 4 little holes on my balance tube, they said it's their "minimum charge" it seems to me like it could be done for a lot less... does andybody in the bay area, [ca] with a tig think they can help me out here?

  12. I'm in the process of euro-izing my balance tube for my 240z [pics to come], and on my balance tube there is a vacuum line going to the automatic transmission,[the one right in front of the brake vacuum line] i'm planning to switch to a 5 speed manual, will i still need this line?
  13. I believe they just stopped making new bugs in mexico, but i'm not totally sure, i think they finished with something called the millenium edition in 2000. You could sure as heck find one used though. and i'f you're interested i've got a 56 oval ragtop shell, they're rare as hell, but it's been crashed into, i've got a replace ment door and quarter panel, and the a replacement front clip was crappily welded on there, i was gonna do one of those fenderless hot-rod bugs when my z is done, and that elimintes the front half of the front clip anyways, they do go for big bucks once they're restored though... pm me if you're still interested.

  16. I have a 1971 240z, and my hatch has a bit of bondo on it, i am going to be replacing it with a fg or cf hatch, and was thinking of possibly selling my original hatch, how much do you think i should ask for it? i can post some pics later.
  17. 1971 240z In Bay Area California, interested in improvements to the suspension,coilovers, adjustable arms, maybe something like tein's edfc, carbon fiber parts..consoles, dashes...anything... maybe a hid headlight kit, and l28et performance parts...

  21. I've wondered about wastegates for a while myself too, do i have this right? basically they are a valve that bypasses the turbo at a certain psi? a safety devide pretty much right?
  22. my dad suggested using a heat gun, and then scraping it, with a chisel or what have you... most of mine just scraped/fell off..
