FOOLS Street racing... Jamie T, Did you know these guys???
PETEW replied to Mikelly's topic in Non Tech Board
What amazes me is that retards like this can make it through life that long without killing themselves, or at least maming themselves. You see people in there 20's,30's and older still making very poor decisions any more. How do they make it? Sad part is these people are allowed to breed and bring more idiots into the world. -
Buying a new home with 18 acres. We already have plans for all new stainless steel kitchen equipment, new carpeting, a pole barn (whats a good size for 3 cars?), a compact tractor (holy crap they are expensive ), etc, etc. Looks like I will be spending all my tax return and a whole lot more. Oh well in the long run I think we will be much happier.

So what happened?

Best thing you can do is talk to Ross at Modern Motorsports. He can lead you in the right direction if you tell him what you want to do with the car. I was really worried about setting up my car right and he really helped. Check out his website and send him an email. http://www.modern-motorsports.com/

This guy is nuttier than squirrel turds. I remember watching him when he was good (at boxing) and still thinking he was a mentally challegenged nut ball. Now he just proves it with everything he says.

Wow, after 4 years doesn't sound like you should bother. I would guess that if it has worked that long it should be OK. I would love to keep the finned cover but that means fabricating a mount which I'm not sure I could do. It is kind of important part . I know I can get someone else to make one, but just don't want to spend the money right now. Thanks for the help.

Subframe connectors on 280Z and sway bar issues
PETEW replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I'm not sure how the 240 rear sway bar mounts. To be honest, I thought that the 240's only came with a front sway bar. The 280Z sway bar mounts foward and the mounts on the body put in the area between the frame rail and the rear frame. It looks like there may be 1" of room, maybe a little more. I know I can't use 2x2 box frame like a lot of pictures I saw. I was thinking of getting some plate steel and trying to form it to the body (some how ) and then welding it in. I'm not really sure if this will ad too much to the strength of the frame, though. I would love to see how some guys have tackled this issue. Thanks. -
Wow! That chick needs a smack. Freakin chick has my truck pushed over a cliff, I think she might get the same treatment. Maybe give her the Sam Kinnisen (sp?) treatment. " Think I'm small do ya, flip her over and then.....no, no your big your big!" Kidding, kidding relax.

I was wondering if anyone has pics of subframe connectors on a 280Z. I have many pictures of 240's with them but not a 280Z. My biggest concern is that with mounting a connector from the frame rail to rear frame will be in the way of the rear sway bar. I was wondering how to get around it. I am looking to really beef up the frame so I don't have problems with stress cracks in my rear quarters (one already started on the passenger side ). I have an autopower roll bar that I will putting in, as well, but would like as much frame strength as possible. I am worried that with an LSD rear and wide tires that I will be subjecting the frame to abuse it has never seen. I just don't want to twist it like a pretzle in the process. Thanks for the info guys.

I know that many people when switching to an R200 LSD rear diff they would just put on the R200 open cover on. I was wondering if any one had any problems, or forsee any with doing this. I went through a ton of pages (since search only looks at this years posts)and looked to see if anyone said if there was a problem doing this. It would be the easiest way to do it on my '77Z, and seems to make sense. I know nissan put in the extra capacity and finned cover for cooling effect, but does the LSD really generate that much more heat? Thanks for the help guys.

Just got painted, opinions wanted on headlight covers, pic
PETEW replied to a topic in Body Kits & Paint
The car is beautiful as is. I like the looks of the covers, but they look like a major pain to me. Good choice is color, the shop looks like they did a nice job. Enjoy. -
Stay away from Fram no matter what level. They are all junk and have poor build quality. AC Delco is a very good filter and only costs a couple of bucks. Wix are good but like you said not as common. The mobil 1 filter according to him is a very good filter and should be used if money is not an object. The study is a few years old now but good. Here is the link to where a guy was testing oil filters. Fram was the one brand he said to boycott. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/

Sounds to me like one of the roomates need a lesson in maners. I would let them know that the crap has got to stop. You don't have to be there pals but they better respect your stuff. Sometimes it takes a good pop in the nose. I am not a violent person but sometimes drastic situations call for drastic measures. Hope you can resolve it with out having to come to that. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about the hand. Crap, that must have hurt. Hope it heals up well. Glad you got the car in the garage, though. Did I read that right you have abudy that is 7 foot 2. Damn that is tall. I'm 6'4" and I would be short next to him.

You have to really watch out on ebay. I see fake auctions all the time. We just bought a place with 18 acres so I have been shopping around for a tractor. Can you believe there were auctions that were fake for tractors? I knew about bikes and cars but tractors?! Amazing, there are dirt bags that will do anything to steal your money.

Suspension Techniques steering coupler
PETEW replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey guys, thanks for all your help. I actually looked at the piece again today. First, I brought it inside so I wouldn't freeze. I then started to pull the metal sleeves out of the holes in the coupler. Then I noticed that the other holes (I thought they put in extra holes in the coupler for some give ) were the same size as the ones with the sleeves. I started to measure and sure enough they are closer. I put the sleeves in the second set of holes in the coupler and I now have a perfect match. I knew it had to be something stupid (it is me after all ). But when your freezing your butt off sometimes its hard to think. Thanks again for your help, and hopefully this will help someone else when they do their bushings. by the way if anyone wants the bushings for the front and rear (stock) sway bar I will gladly give them away. Just pay for shipping. I have aftermarket ones so I don't need them. -
Ross, Sorry to hear that some one stole your car. The older I get the more I hate people. No biases or pre judgments, just all people. I deal with people all day and by the time its time to go home I don't want to deal with them any more. Seems like the Z is getting popular again. I may have to get an alarm. Hope to hear that you get your car back soon. Good luck in your search.

I live about an hour away from this car. I might take a look at it before it the auction is over. I am wondering what what runs but needs work means.

Suspension Techniques steering coupler
PETEW replied to PETEW's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
No one? Do you not use the steel pieces that are used with the rubber coupler. I looked in the directions from Suspension Techniques but they did not say if you use them or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question, I just can't seem to figure it out. Might be because I'm too busy freezing my a@# off. Hopefully someone knows. I can take pictures tomorrow if that will help. Thanks. -
Hey guys, I'm trying ot get the last part of my urethane bushings in and I noticed that the ST coupler is larger than the rubber one on my car was. I was also noticing that the steel brackets that go on either side of the coupler are a little small. What did you guys do to make it fit? should I slot the steel brackets, or just force it as is, or....? Thanks for the help.

Wow the engine keeps looking better and better. I was wondering what you are using to cap over the distributer. I am using the SDS with digital ignition as well, and am trying to figure out what to do. I really don't want to gut out the distrbuter and just leave it there. Could you take a closer pic of that area. You can just e-mail it to me or send me a PM, or put it in this post. Thanks for the help. I wish I had your talent now let alone at 17. Who taught you what you know?

Oh damn, I can't stop laughing! Star Wars deleted scene
PETEW replied to auxilary's topic in Non Tech Board
That was funny. I love the look on obi's face. L ooks like he's in heat. Ha! -
Very nice job. I hope my engine looks as nice when I am done.

Funny stuff. Now that's how you race.

Manchowder, Ha! That's funny. It would be bad enough if the vegetarian don't eat "meat" but it would be worse if they take down the "protein shake". Nothing worse than being left with a mess. Thank god I don't worry about that.
