  1. What is THIS?? I've never seen it before. RB head on an L6 block? or is it an S20? Forgive my ignorance.
  2. Very cool news! I guess when I'm driving fast enough to blow out the illuminas I'll just upgrade. BTW are you using stock sized struts or shortened struts? Sounds great! Dan
  3. BRAAP is doing a VQ swap? Into what may I ask?
  4. I don't think they fit the look with that wheel. With slotted mags they would be great though...
  5. Heat can probably be dealt with... There are a couple options that I have for turbo mounting so I'll see what I have to deal with when I have the engine mocked up in the engine bay.
  6. Well I'm not doing twin turbos because the cost would be too high. If I could find a good pair of turbos it might happen but I'm leaning toward a single HX50. The same plenum could be used for single or twins. Under that kind of plenum you could fit an entire huge turbo. The VH block is way down under there. Just about where the bellhousing mounts.
  7. http://nissandiesel.dyndns.org check them out... eh just click it...it's not pasting right...
  8. I'm giddy. I may just do 2 TB's and concentrate on THIS but without the stock bottom runners: Who needs hood clearance anyway?
  9. Here is my thinking of a fun idea to do... The Ferrari F430 V8 looks almost identical to a VH45 Time to find some Ferrari emblems... HOTTNESS!
  10. That is pretty much what I have read. 5.0 blocks split at 500hp and 7000. The VH block is out there making 1200hp in some cases and no block splitting... I'm wanting to keep the bottom end mostly stock with the addition of forged pistons and then do a lot of top end work. The intake runners on the VH45 could be bored out a little and the exhaust runners aren't too bad. When compared to some of the deep L6 head work I have seen this is going to be a cake walk. The hard part is just finding parts. I may need to have some custom valve springs made to my specs since the aftermarket for the VH is about as available as rust free series 1 fairladyZ in the swamps of FL. I'm looking at getting a set of cam blanks to work with as well for the VH. I'll keep the updates coming. OTM
  11. Some people like to trailer their car to the track because it is too fast to drive on the street or not street legal... Maybe a less broad statement is in order? Cheers OTM
  12. The nickhaddock.co.uk site is where I got the picture from... And Paul was right on the money!!
  13. Why Thank you very much Mrs. R. What a compliment!
  14. So who can figure out what it is?
  15. My buddy called me up today wanting to give me a Ford 289 that needs a FULL rebuild. I told him I am at my max for engine storage. 2 L6 engine blocks,1 VH45DE with tranny, most of the parts from an LD28, and a bunch of other misc little pieces, a holset, and more... Can't cram any more into a 2 car garage with 2 sportscars. Oh well.
  16. Pure Aluminum expands about 5% at it's critical temeperature. With such high EGT's the aluminum was getting close to it's critical melting temperature and did some expanding.
  17. Cool thanks! I figured you were using seperate fire rings. Hope you can get your valve seat problem worked out!
  18. Hey guys, I'm about to leave for school and I have 2 L6 blocks that I need to store for 9 months. One already has some slightly rusty bores(#5&6 and were that way when I got it) and the other is like new. They will be sitting in the trunk area of my Z to help clear up space in the garage while I am gone. Anyway I'm looking for a way to store them without having them rust any. I was thinking of putting oil on them with a rag and putting them in a plastic bag but I think the bag will stick and fall apart. My VH will stay sealed for the storage... Any other suggestions? Thanks!
  19. WOW... Never seen that before! I guess at 600hp you put some..."Different" forces on an L6 head. May I ask what you are using to seal your head gasket? (red and blue stuff??)
  20. Buy it, slap your turbo stuff in there, and put a VH45 in your black Z!!
