  2. There has been some discussion on it before. Someone said that it is a chevy truck frame that has been shortened and the datsun body sat on top. Pretty cool anyway!

  4. I like the look of a VERY tall tire. I'm running 26.1" tires on my Z and love the size! I also like the MSA#2 airdam. The rear skirt of the MSA#2 isn't so good. I think the smoothed Datsun rear end is the best looking option with the #2 airdam. Love the car!!

  8. The second time I drove on the tail of the dragon (11 miles long) I kept the L26 in between 3500 and 7000 the whole time. I have a header, 2.5" pipe and a turbo "muffler" but all the packing is LONG gone. Upon getting out of the car I could not hear anybody talking for about 5 minutes...lol All I know is that it was pretty dang loud. I think the only sound system I'll ever have in my Z is gasoline powered.
  9. I did coilovers for around $800 with Illuminas. Add about $250 for some camber plates and then maybe $120 for top spring perches. I did all the welding myself. Dan/OTM Tokico blues and some regular lowering springs should work fine but it won't be adjustable and you won't be able to change your spring rates cheaply/easily.
  10. My SPEC clutch came with allen head bolts and each one had a washer. Don't remember if they were lock washers or not though. Take that for what it is...

  14. I saw those two pics on the turbo forums... If the HX50 is in the middle between the HX40 and HX60 then I am in bigtime business. Still looking for an HX50 map though. The H1E would be great for a pair of twins. My Holset core is an H1C... Pretty small. It supposedly will swap turbine housings with an HX35 though to eleminate the internal wastegate.
  15. Well after a lot of work reading up on the Ford motors to build a BOOSTED motor I'd want all forged internals. Not CHEAP. All I need for the VH is pistons which is easy and well within my budget. Getting a tranny that can handle 500+ hp won't be cheap with either motor. The stock auto tranny can be built to handle 800hp. Mounts: Meh... I'm good with solidworks and know my way around a welder. They won't be a problem. 351 being cheaper to build up: Hmm... I'm not sure about that one. I got my whole VH drivetrain for well under $300 and it is in pretty good condition. I'll probably spend a grand on some top notch custom pistons and then add some bearings and gasket kit and the bottom end will be done. I'm not going to go crazy with this bottom end but a future motor may be pretty trick. Just a simple balancing and polishing job is in order. Manual trans: I was going to do a Z32 trans... My VG33 truck trans w/ 40k miles is similar and I'm feeling a little bit of the 3rd gear synchro not being happy. The Z32 trans has the same tendency for synchro failure. I'll stay with the automatic and make it worth my while with some trick stuff... Weight: Well I'm taking all of the extra OE EFI junk off the engine and will build a harness that doesn't add 30 pounds to the deal. Should be able to take 20 pounds off at LEAST! I just built a harness for the rest of the car with my Dad with all standard auto-zone parts. Came out around $200 plus the DIY experience I now have. I would call that one of the "trick" things on the to-do list...
  16. Did the dizzy driveshaft jump a tooth? Mine jumped two and had me wondering for quite a while...
  17. At least pull the pump and fill it with oil... I had the same problem and when I filled the pump I had oil shooting out of the cam within 2 seconds of starting to crank the motor.
  18. You can do a V8 swap in a first Gen RX7 for about $2000 including the swap kit and motor etc... No welding motor mounts or anything... My boss was going to have me build him a hybrid V8 RX7 but he sold it for $500... Go figure.
  19. Larry, Looks great! How much clearance do you have from the stock springs/perches? I'll be getting a pair of those before too long to mount on my Diamond racing rims.
