Anyone running these wheels?
CruxGNZ replied to Phyte's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Phyte, Thanks! The car isn't as good in real life as it is in the pictures. It's a 20 footer (looks good from 20 feet) It needs a paint job and some minor bodywork. The only reason I can think of why the wheels are so cheap, is they are "no namer's" . Cheap knock off's of brand name wheels. I am happy with the wheels, I just love that dished look. Oh yeah, I have to mention, those wheels are heavy . I purchased them off Ebay new for something like $390 or so from a wheel shop. Maybe next year I can fit some 17x9 CCW's in there (with a lot more 'dish' to them), besides I set the suspension up to fit a 9" wide wheel back there 8) . Phantom, I honestly don't know off hand. I've been meaning to measure the spacer since I forgot the size. 1.5" rings a bell, but I'll have to check to make sure. If I remember correctly, the wheels have a 40mm offset (Honda wheel). They are pretty much flush with the stock fenders, makes for a nice look. I'll get back to you on the size of the spacer. !M! -
Have any of you looked at the date tedsned posted this? I doubt he's around anymore. !M!

Anyone running these wheels?

I am, but the spokes are powder coated white. You can see them on my car in my gallery and to the left right below my name. !M! -
battg8r, This has been talked about before. Next time, use the little search button up top and see if you can find an answer before posting your question please. Just with a quick search, I came up with these: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=25953&highlight=half+shafts+swaybar http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24291&highlight=cv+boots Read those, it should help you out !M!

I asked the same thing a while back. Here is the post: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6890&highlight=spring+rates+using Your current spring rates are spine crunching! You have to make sure that your shocks will work with the springs you use. On my Z, which handles VERY well, I have 175lb. in. on the front and 200lb. in. on the rear with Tokico Illumina's (5-way adjustable). This is for a street car. I actually think that the rear is to tight, but I can't go to a lower spring rate in a 8" spring . !M!

This is just plain cool... Powered by a Subaru 2.5 WRX engine. Hits speeds of 100mph on the road and up to 40mph on the water (so far). This thing was featured in Hot Boat magazine. More pictures can be seen HERE !M!

If you think you may have cooling problems, invest in a better radiator and leave the worries behind. Paint your engine and head whatever you like. Just don't use Day Glow Orange !M!

Where else to buy energy poly bushings?
CruxGNZ replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I agree. I got my poly bushings from them and it was great. I have never got the customer service and chit chat from a company like that. I was actually talking to them while the guy and his wife were traveling to see a family member play baseball a few hours from thier home. Very nice to do business with, I highly recomend them. !M! -
My left turn signal stopped working and the problem seemed to be the switch itself. I figured that it's been 30 years and a lot of crap has accumulated inside the switches. Yesterday, I pulled the turnsignal switch and headlight switch off the steering colum. I then disassebled the turn signal switch and sprayed electrical cleaner inside the switch to clean the crap out. Next I dabbed dielectric grease on the copper contacts. I did this with the headlight switch also. After paying close attention to how everything came apart, I assembled both switches. I figured that I haven't changed anything except cleaning the contacts so nothing out of the ordinary should happen. After installing the switches back on the steering colum, I tested each switch to make sure they worked and they did just fine. I thought I was done... Later that night, I wanted to meet up with some Z guys at the dragstrip, so I jumped in my (still L6 powered ) Z and took off. About 10 minutes into the drive I smell something electrical is very hot. Next thing I know I'm seeing smoke! Holy crap, I have a fire in my steering colum! I pull over, shut the car off and check things out. With fire extinguisher handy, I couldn't open the plastic cover that surounds the colum, because I brought the wrong screwdriver. With the smoke clearing and feeling safe again, I notice that my running lights are out, but the headlights work. Taking a chance, I flew back home without running lights. Within a few moments of driving the steering colum starts smoking again. I made it back without fire breaking out. After pulling everything apart again, I find out that the headlight switch has melted. The plastic inside the headlight stalk is melted along with those two springs and plastic caps (if you have pulled it apart, you'll know what I'm talking about). It's a mess. I finally gave up trying to fix it, because it's just to far gone. I do have relays for the headlights installed and have had no problems in the past. Why would this part melt after cleaning it? It's hard to track the culprit when the switch is gone. How can I prevent this from happening to my next switch? !M!

Ah man, I hear you on that! I have the same problem, size 13 and very wide feet. Whenever I take my Z out, I have to wear some running shoes because they are more flexible than anything else I have. Sometimes I actually just take my shoes off, but it feels wierd when you heel/toe coming into a corner. At least I won't have to worry about fumbling around the pedals to much next year, because my swap will be to an automatic. FYI, 6' 2" 190lbs. and fit in my '73 just fine (my head is about an inch from the headliner), well except for the same problem that bastaad525 is having with my right leg getting numb, my knee hurting and my @ss falling asleep. The angle that your leg is at is all wrong... maybe a different seat will cure this? I need to change seats anyhow, I'm falling out of the stock seats while cornering, kind of scarey . !M!

You going to do it yourself, so you know it's done right this time? It's good to hear that you had a good (if you want to call it that) outcome. Still sucks that they thought you were some kind of a moron. Sure showed them, hey? !M!

Bob, It's been talked about before: http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=26070 I don't have the copy handy, but I don't remember Ross being mentioned. I think Rick got his brakes from Mike Gibson and the CV adaptors were mentioned as being found on "www.hybridZ.com", not even the right address, it figures. I really don't see how this article could increase the value of all our cars. I think it's great if somebody knows what a Z is, it's just that they may or may not know what is under the hood regardless of a magazine article . Good or bad? I say (and this is my opinion remember ) who cares. If you start racing people around town, the word is going to travel fast anyhow. !M!

I missed it. Is the software still screwed up? The last time we all chatted, it was a blast! !M!

If you don't use them, I'll buy them! What are they 17x7's, 17x8's? They look cool 8) . !M!

PETEW, I bought one of the first runs of V8240Z's braces (the one with just two bolts) and I found out that it will not work with the Suspension Techniques rear sway bar setup. Just so people out there know . !M!

Big dude, the redline is about 5500. These engines weren't meant to turn high rpms, and they really don't need to. With stock setups, most seem to lose power after 5200 anyways. !M!

That's the engine in the Vette, right? The videos of him testing that beast are pretty cool. !M!
