  1. Holy crap, it's Phil! How have you been? Any more progress on your Z? Guys, Phil has a VERY nice Viper blue Z. You should post some photos of your Z for all to see. !M!
  2. That's pretty nice! I like the color also . I can just see your 2+2 dropped a little bit and have a front air dam on there and it will look slick. Nice wheels too. !M!
  3. Phillip... that is so true . Took the words right out of my mouth. You know I'm happy that I have this project of mine, because I have bought so many new, fun tools to play with. It's great! !M!
  4. Z8, I just bought a 12 ton shop press also. It's just to bad I didn't have the press to do the bushings on my Z. It's come in very handy so far, it's a great tool! Paid for itself already. !M!
  5. Can you post the picture from your first set of mufflers, you know... before it went under the knife Well, the guy has to know what it looks like if he chooses wide mufflers. !M!
  6. From what I remember, that CRX is used for mud drags, although I can't see the type of rear tire used in that picture. Oh, and that is NOT rice . !M!
  7. Yeah, we would all LOVE to see that, seriously. But with todays society, I highly doubt it. Most of the time parents are just lazy, but even the parents that do want to discipline thier kids stop themselves from doing so, because now days if you flick your kids ear or slap the back of thier head for doing something wrong, you have to watch YOUR back to make sure nobody see's you do it, otherwise some "Sammy Safety" will be calling Social Services on you and you might lose your kid(s). Also, gone are the days of teachers stepping up and yelling at a kid in school, because of the fear of being sued or losing thier job. You know, when I was a kid my Dad would beat the crap out of me if I did something wrong and I can tell ya, I never did whatever it was again. This next generation of kids will have no respect for anyone and will think they can get away with anything, it's pretty sad. I applaud the parents that discipline thier kids the correct way. !M!
  8. Cool, thanks for answering my questions! Hey, before I forget, I noticed that you don't have a upper radiator hose. I was told by a fellow GNZ'er that if you go to Advanced Auto and ask for part # L327, you will get a hose that matches perfectly. What are you going to use for the bottom radiator hose? For the engine mounts, I was thinking of your offer you made to me on TB's.com, but I want to make this engine as low and far back as possible. If it means that I have to move the coil pack to clear the fire wall, then so be it. Also, I want the engine centered, so I guess that I'm going to be using a u-joint in the steering shaft like Scottie did. I have coilovers and weight distribution won't be much of a problem, mostly because I have a contact that I can go to to corner wieght my car when the swap is complete. I may have to move the battery, because the down pipe is so close to it, so that can help as well. I think I asked Scottie this a while back too, but did you have to make any modifications to the tranny tunnel to fit the 2004R in there? If I have any questions that I can't put into words, then I'll be callin' you! Thanks. Oh yeah, thanks for e-mailing me those pictures. Looking forward to some more. !M!
  9. Well, there was pictures posted of an electric powered ZX a while back. Would be a cool comuter car though. !M!
  10. Damn, that looks soooo nice! I'm so close with my swap, I can feel it. A few months ago, I thought I would have my engine in before you. Hey, what did you end up doing with the engine mounts? Is the engine slightly offset to clear the steering shaft, or did you center the engine and use a u-joint in the steering shaft to get around the drivers side header? You have any pictures of your mounts? What down pipe is that? I have the ATR TTA down pipe and I'm still hoping that it's going to fit. Looks like a rats nest of wires. My stock harness looked like that after I pulled it all apart. Looks complicated, but really it isn't. What are you using for a fuel tank and fuel pump? By the way, I love that color on your Z. !M! P.S. Next time, post info or pictures of your car in the "6 Cylinder Tech board"
  11. Mike, Are you talking about loading your pictures to HybridZ or just viewing them? !M!
  12. Wow, a lot more young guys than I would have thought... but the seemingly pointless banter that has been popping up in the tech forums kind of gave me a clue I'm just glad I was born at a very young age. !M!
  13. Just tried a few pictures, they work fine for me. !M!
  14. With the Suspension Techniques bar, it mounts underneath the half shaft, or axle as you have called it. People have had interference issues only when they go to CV's. You should be fine if you still have the stock, u-jointed half shafts. Try using the supplied end links, if they don't work, you can cut the sleeve down to make the endlinks shorter. If you don't want to cut things, you can order different size endlinks from Jegs. They don't come up on thier online catalog, but trust me they have them. Call 'em 1-800-345-4545. Also, make sure you don't have Suspension Techniques bar upside down. !M!
  15. Well, here is Wisconsin the weather is always changing. Last week I was working on a two story deck and was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. It was sunny and in the 70's and I even got a little tan. Yesterday it was 22 degrees and with the windchill it brought the temp. down to 0 degrees. I was working outside again on a normal 18'X22' deck and it was a bit difficult to build from all the snow that was blowing in my eyes. It was supposed to be just flurries, but it was coming down pretty good for most of the day. Now today, it was supposed to be 10 degrees warmer but just as windy, so I dressed up in the long underware and hat. But, no... sunny and 40 today. I was sweating my balls off. Picture this, I had to lay on the ground on my right side to smack the skirt (a 2X12) over on the deck to straighten it out, so I could nail down the decking and put in the solid bridging. The skirt is only ~8" off the ground (that's why I had to lay down). There is only 16" to swing my hammer (between the joists). The way I was laying down, my knee was on the ground but just on the other side of the skirt from where I was hammering. Getting frusterated at the immobility because of the cold weather clothes, I started to smack the skirt as hard as possible. In my frustration, I backed the claw of the hammer into another joist on a back stroke and made my hammer wobble a little bit, just enough for me to miss the skirt coming back , well the hammer glanced off the bottom of the skirt and with full force hit my right knee... Had the meteoroligists (sp?) been correct in thier forcast, I wouldn't have been wearing these warm clothes in the first place and could have possibly had the mobilty to move my leg out of the way. Well here I am, mad that I hit myself with my own hammer, quite embarassing actually for a carpenter. I had to blame it on something/someone, because it certainly wasn't my fault You know, this is the second time that I had hammered myself, now that I remember. When I was about 11 or 12, I was taking off some aluminum siding from a house and I took a full swing downwards with the claw to break something off the house and the claw glanced off the siding and swung into my left knee, embeding itself just left of my knee cap. Got a cool scar from that one. You know come to think of it, that was with the same hammer, Estwing's kick @ss. Sorry for the rambling, but a little alchohol was in order when I got home, damn my knee is throbbing. !M!
  16. Don't get your hopes up to high. I thought mine was going to go down alot, because you always hear people bragging about how much thier insurance dropped when they hit the age of 25. Mine only went down $12 for the year !M!

    Wire Z Model

Damn, you got skills! And lots of patience. It's pretty neat. Hey, I wonder if you could put some colored vinyl over the wire frame and heat it up, then pull a vacuum on it from underneath. It would create the body panels for you. I wonder if it would work hmmm... !M!
  18. Wow, is that ever cool! I tried to search for that car to find out more about it, but all I could find was this car by the same name (notice, only 2 rear tires, not 4): https://webf33a4-tabnet.securesites.com/secure/shoppro/mccmc034.jpg !M!
  19. I think we did one of these a while back... maybe a couple of years ago. Anyways, I'm 27 but look and act like I'm 23. Oh yeah, this January when I turn 28, I'm still going to be 23. I hate getting older . !M!
  20. Custom driveshaft is needed. For a rear end, this is up to you. If you want to keep the cost down, then get a R200. You can also swap in a R230. You could also go to a solid rear, but this all depends on what you are going to do with your car (drag strip, street car, road race, ect.) For information about any of these options, goto the "Drivetrain" forum and search. There is a TON on information in there. !M!
  21. You need the complete running gear from a Turbo Regal or a Grand National, preferebly from 1987. Engine, transmission (if you want to stay with the 2004R), wiring harness, computer, ect. Making engine mounts and tranny mounts is up to you. I've got a '73 also and you will need to upgrade the rear end to be able to live with the torque from this engine. These engines like to be loaded, so the higher the rear ratio the better. There are also options for the wiring harness, computer, and transmission. Have you researched this at all? I don't want to scare you off, just want you to be informed. It's a fun, but fussy engine. Definitely a unique swap. There has been quite a few different vehicles that the LC2 has been swapped into. Go here to get some ideas and to read up a bit: http://www.turbobuicks.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=forum;f=3 and http://www.gnttype.org/ !M!
  22. Yes. '70-'78 hoods are interchangable. !M!
  23. fcz, I'm not sure on the '75-'78 Z, but on my '73 it's actually 3 panels. I had to take mine apart to paint it. I had the same idea as you, to make it one piece in fiberglass. For the most part, it's light already, so it didn't make sense to make it out of fiberglass, but you probably could sell them if you made them out of carbon fiber. You'll have to weld the 3 pieces together and smooth them out, then test fit to the car, then make a mold, then pop a piece out made from fiberglass (cheaper) test fit, then if it fits, make it out of carbon fiber. Yeah, that's why I decided to just paint mine, BUT if the price was right, I would buy a '70-'74 panel in carbon fiber. !M!
  24. Damn, it's too big for an avatar... wait, let me look again... no, her boobs are too big for an avatar... wait let me look again... and again.... and again... !M!
