  1. Hey I forgot to say good job. Yeah, I was refering to the front bottom door gap. Just so you know I was not making fun of your work, I never did a cage install, so I'm not one to judge. Given the chance, I would take a paycut to work in a fabrication shop for a while, just to get some more skills. I would be in heaven with all those awsome tools. !M!
  2. Whoa! If you are talking about the gap in the front of the drivers door, then that's pretty major IMO. One of my buddies did his own cage twice. He put his car up on jack stands and then welded in the cage. He never made sure his car was sitting straight on the jack stands, he just assumed that his concrete foor was level (it never is, it's always pitched in a garage), big mistake. When he was finished with his cage install, he lowered the car to the ground only to find that the passenger rear was sitting about 3/4" higher than the rest of the car . It looked goofy, you could really tell that something was not right. Yup, the concrete floor was not flat (gee, go figure ) If he would of told me what he was doing, then I would have said something (anybody in construction would know this, considering it was also an old cracked floor), but he ended up having to cut up his cage and make a few adjustments. Just a little warning to you folks doing a "do it yourself" cage install, don't trust your floor, make the proper measurements! Remember, your car flexes a bit. !M!
  3. It's Sunday 10pm Central time The chat room has not seen any action lately. Anybody up for it? !M!
  4. Cool! I thought you had to break in your engine before you pounded on the thing? I also have met a few people that didn't want to talk to me when they were driving a Z or ZX. It may also be that they have no idea what they are driving. To some people cars are just transportation, not "funmobiles" . For some reason I still remember one guy that was driving a Z32 and I was driving my Z and we were also both at a gas station. I said, "Hey, nice Z." He said (with a very confused look on his face), "Oh, this, oh... okay." I don't think he ever put two and two together. He may have been driving his buddies car and didn't know what it was, who knows. Oh well. It still makes me smile to see a Z or ZX around these parts, even if they have no idea the history behind it or the future it may hold. !M! Edit: Whoa! Guy, we both broke 900 posts . Makes you think how much time we actually sit on our butts typing.
  5. Tom, Just a heads up on the whole work at home assembly jobs, most are a scam. You get these mailers sent to you and they all look promising and they make it sound to good to be true. The fact is is that it is to good to be true. Listening to Clark Howard's talk show, he says that once you send back your finished products, you will get a respnse from them saying that thier quality control people rejected your product. You are now out your investment. Feel around a bit more to see what's real and what's a scam, do your research on a company before you send any money. !M!
  6. Cowboy, Forget about my first post. I reread it and it sounds like I had an attitude about it. Some of the Z wipers do need some help in the mechanical department, because of rust/corrosion, so if you can do one up on Nissan, go for it. I don't drive my Z in the rain, so it was never a problem for me. Sorry. !M!
  7. Congrats! Kids are so much fun to play with, because you can act like a kid again and get away with it. I need to find me the right woman to make me one or two of them !M!
  8. The '70-'78 control arms are all the same. From what I understand, the 280Z sway bar will bolt right to the 240Z, because the mounting points are already there. !M!
  9. Mine will be in my Z over the winter (hopefully). There is a few Z's with the GN engine installed. !M!
  10. ...and any 's on how to get the race out as well would be great. !M!
  11. I did mine and I still forget, but one side is right-hand threaded and the other is left-hand threaded. In other words one comes off clockwise and the other comes off counter clockwise. !M!
  12. (Insert stupid comment here). !M!
  13. Why would you want to? The wipers work fine the way they are. I seriously doubt anyone has attempted this, because the wipers themselves don't need improvement and you will not gain anything from doing it differently. The only reason I could see for doing this is to have something unique, which is fine, but couldn't you use that energy on another part of your car? Have you opened up the cowl panel to see what needs to be done to do this? Not to mention the cowl panel itself has to be modified. You might be in over your head. But if you want to, go right ahead. I'm not knocking you okay, I just don't see the point. !M!
  14. I still can't believe that's CGI, it looks so real. !M!
  15. Check it out, Fifth Element !M!
  16. John, I've got that a few times also. The thing is I just posted, then clicked on view your message and I got "You cannot make another post so soon after your last...". I don't understand what I am doing wrong, because I have recieved that message about four times since the new software upgrade. !M!
  17. If I remember right, there was a post about this last year. I think the conclusion was that the engine was just to heavy and to tall. !M!
  18. Oh just weld the header to the head and be done with it . Are we going to see some burnout pictures soon? !M!
  19. Has some swearing in it, so keep the volume down if you have kids around. I still can't stop laughing at this, it's done so well. http://www.theembassyvfx.com/tank.html !M! edit: Does anyone know how I can save this video to my computer?
  20. Wow, I'm glad he will make a full recovery. It sucks about your car, but family does come first, we all understand that. I've watched you put a lot of time and effort into your Z, and it's well cared for, you'll get what you need out of it. I feel your pain about health insurance, especially pre-existing conditions. I don't talk about my personal life to much online, just because it might save my @ss one day (no evidence), but since my fight is over with I can say that I owed my health insurance company about $162,000 for some crap that happend to me a while back and my health insurance company (who will remain nameless) said that a stroke was a pre-existing condition... (yeah I know), and refused to pay. My attorney finally won about a month ago. I actually cried I was so happy that I don't have to pay all that money. There is A LOT more to this story. They said all the red flags went up because I went to the doctor for a runny nose. Doesn't make sense? Not at all. If you want, e-mail me and we can talk about health insurance stuff. !M!
  21. In the instructions for my Tokico's, it says that if it's possible, then put some fluid in there. It helps transfer heat to the outside of the strut. Heat means friction, cool things last longer. Just measure the white part if the cartridge. Hey Mike, I think I have a whole drivers side front suspension laying in the basement. Would it help if I took pictures and drew out in Paint what you need to do for your coilovers? I know you posted a bunch of stuff on here (HybridZ) already, so if you want PM me. I'll be glad to walk you through what you have to do. !M!
  22. SPIIRIT, Unfortunately I wasn't able to find out any more info on the car. Sorry. !M!
  23. I'll see if I can get some details for you . !M!
  24. By the looks of those women, are you sure about that ? They probably have the intelligence of a butterfly. !M!
