  1. LOL Turbo-Encabulator FAQ Q: Can I use a Fourier or Laplace transformer to power my vintage Turbo-encabulator? — Don Stauffer A: If you use a Fourier transformer, be sure you're discrete about it. Fast Fourier transformers may seem appealing, but tend to leave grease spots where you set them on the bench. Laplace transformers are best, but remember that you'll need a dual VanBergen power coupling if your TE was made before 1932. (Between 1932 and 1937, some units had helically-polarized inputs; lotsa luck finding the beam power input tubes for those.) If you haven't powered your unit up yet, be sure to check the calibration on the conversion screens. They may not be compatible with the pitch of the modern power grid, and I don't have to tell you what THAT means! — Eric Wilner Q: What's a wennelsprock? — Bill S. A: It's a lot like a Finnegan pin, except for where it attaches to the molly sprocket, it uses a plain bearing instead of a ball bearing. This reduces creatisfration to below 37 RMQ's. — Carl Byrns
  2. tasteful, but definitely not worth 15k or an OMG IMHO, but nonetheless, I would not mind rollin' it
  3. Very awesome idea...I love this motor and have been waiting for someone to swap this or GM's dohc 3.6l v6. Finally!!! I'm going have to agree that height should be a concern, but good luck. that motor is going to sound great with itb's. cant wait, keep us posted.
  4. my guess is 375whp 400wtq, but I guess on it depends on what dyno is used.
  5. 77 280z with a good running FI l28, 4 speed. Body is straight for the most part, small dent in front right fender. no carpet, no winsheild wiper motor and bits and pieces of the interior are missing. asking $1500 firm located in san fernando, CA. pm me for more info
  6. btw i have contacted them; however, i never get a response back.
  7. I previously bought a ms1 v2.2 to install on my l28et (83' w/ p90a). The first time I ordered from RS-Autosport I had to choose the 420a/neon option; however, I ended up frying the board and I must purchase a new one. I want to purchase the ms2 v3.57 from diy autotune, but when ordering I have no option to choose from. Should I contact them or should the standard version work with my motor. BTW I don't plan on using Hall or VR.
  8. the wiper linkage works fine, I have removed the motor again and the motor no longer turns.
  9. I can't really tell you anything about your turbo, but like you said...if the seller more or less has admitted that this is not what you ordered, don't settle for it. $2400 is a lot of money and I'm sure you could find a gt35r for the same amount of money or less somewhere else. If I don't completely trust a company for any given reason, there is no reason to do business with them. What if something happens down the line? Just my $.02, good luck.
  10. I recently purchased a used wiper motor for my 280z(the one with the round plug) to replace my non working unit. When I hooked up the motor the first time it worked beautifully. After bolting it down to the wiper arm, I proceeded to turn the key to the on position and plug in the wiper motor connector. Now the wiper motor doesn't turn and makes a clicking sound when the wipers are turned to the on position. I pulled the motor from the bag and I removed the black plastic cover(the one with the 3 wires going into it) to reveal the source of the clicking, which is a little piece of metal moving up and down?? I dont know what to do at this point as I'm not very experienced, but I was hoping someone could give me some insight as to why it stopped working?
  11. dont know if any of you have seen this, her name is jessica barton and you have to see this girl, wow, she was in a recent issue of FHM? car is built and tuned by Titan Motorsports and is making almost 1000whp IIRC and it's a 6 speed haha! just for schitzengiggles, a video of jessica http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt6FwLrZU7A&feature=related
  12. to the only forum worth being a part of... HAPPY BIRTHDAY HYBRIDZ! not much of a poster, but definitely a reader...
  13. if you're only looking for 300hp, why not the turbo the l28 with stock parts from a 280zxt? cheaper and will make 300hp easy...i know this is a ford thread, but it seems like a lot less trouble for the goals you have.
  14. the e30 was a good point since they can easily be had for under 4k, but the aftermarket support is not the greatest...awesome cars though. Hmmm, I assume rust is an issue in your state(pardon my ignorance, i live in southern cali where its pretty much always sunny) and you're probably on a budget since your 16 so an s30 is going to be a handful when it comes to the $$ issue. I have owned or own an e30, 240sx and a s30 and although the 240sx was the slowest, it was my first car and it was a blast. not too fast, but cai/headers and a dual friction clutch kept me satisfied for a good while. i beat on that car everyday and took it up to redline every chance i could get...never broke anything! good luck with your decision and remember that it IS your first car so you most likely wont have it for long if you're anything like most of us.
  15. heres a funny one, sorry guys, it's not vulgar:nono: An elderly man in Phoenix calls his son in New York and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough." "Pop, what are you talking about," the son screams. "We can't stand the sight of each other any longer", the old man says. "We're sick and tired of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her." And he hangs up. Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "They can forget it. They are not getting a divorce," she shouts. "I'll take care of this." She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at the old man, "You are NOT getting divorced! Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing! DO YOU HEAR ME?" And she hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone, smiles and turns to his wife. "They're coming for Christmas and paying their own way."
  16. I have seen this done for performance purposes, any insight on this?
  17. Hello, I just picked up a 78' 280z and I have reading up on the AFM adjustment of spring tension to adjust flap resistance. From what I understand, this adjustment will not increase or decrease fuel, but only adjust the resistance of the flap to air being induced? please correct me if I am wrong as I am trying to understand what these adjustments will do for me. I would like to possibly tune for performance gains; however, though my searching I have not found a solid answer. Has anyone done AFM adjustments on a stock 280z(n42/p79) and what kind of gains were seen on what sort of AFM adjustment(how many teeth tighter)? Any help is appreciated, and please no "search" responses, because I have searched and not found a solid answer. Thanks.
  18. i'm green with envy...congratulations...videos and pics please!!! burnouts!!
  19. why not a lightly modified 2.3 turbo coupe motor or l28et? dime a dozen well documented, and will make 300whp with very little effort. defenitely won't break the bank with these...
  20. Honestly, for your performance goals, your current motor will get you where you want to be; however, I don't think that 3.36 rear end will suffice. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to an r200 (lsd or open) and some cv axles to handle the torque of that motor. Btw, I think that the combo you have might actually net you better performance than you're looking for. Remember, when it's all said and done you're still going to be a few hundred pounds shy of 3000.
  21. easy question; however, I searched and found nothing. Are late 260 seats and door panels interchangable with the 280's? please help
  22. could you please state the current condition of your car? I know you stated that you are untuned, but how much boost? mods?
  23. the asscrack is ugly as hell, but I think the subaru SVX is just as bad
