  1. In that case why don't you have a little competition with your dad, and go with the RB25DET. It will cost about $500 to $1000 more than the Chevy.(Less if you leave it stock) A Mild RB25DET (320Hp) would run around $4-5K if you do all the work your self. It's easy to upgrade as money allows, since the bottom end will hold 500-550 HP easy. And the Tranny can take much more than that. The big plus with the V8 is that the power is very linear, and has a great sound. But hey this is a Jap car, It's suppose to sneak up on you.LOL:burnout:
  2. That is a real nice install. I hope mine looks as good when it's done.
  3. That's the exact pic shown in the zhome site. The twin cams heads that fit on the L series motor were different, and HUGE money even in the 70's when they came out. (Upwards of $7K) And the power increase was minimal @ best. The motor looks sweet, but unless your trying to replicate one of the few original cars I don't see the point. You can get a NA RB20 or 25DE block, and get a similar look for alot less money.
  4. Looks like a really good deal for the set. Has anyone had any experience with these guys before? Are their products good quality?
  5. Both are good engines to go with. The Chevy would probably be the cheapest when all is said and done. The RB25DET is a JDM motor making its parts harder to get. (and harder to get through state inspection) I like the Nissan engine because I think of it as an evolution of what the S30 had to begin with. You can make arguments in either direction, but in the end it will be your prefference.
  6. The rear arms are alot more complicated than they look. And you must have some GOD like skill to get them done in 3 hours. If you want new arms go to Arizona Z. They make alot of good parts for the Z. As far as the arm being bent I'll assume that your talking about the end where the spinle goes into. If you got it apart in 30 min, what makes you say that it's bent? If you changed to Poly bushing you'll need to compress them about 2mm, and lots of grease to get them to slide together.
  7. Isn't the 3" almost mandatory when your running a Turbo?
  8. Well After 2 days of work I finally got the suspension back together. (That's ONE full day messing with the spindle pin. ) All new Energy Suspension bushing, Compression Rod T/C, Ball joints, and tie rod ends. I was very happy to be finally finished with the frustration. Dropped the rear first, and it wasn't to bad. (No real weight on the springs yet) Then finally dropped the front. Damn it's low. Had a hard time getting the jack out. The 1 inch drop is B/S, mine droped about 2 in the rear and 2 1/2 in front. The car rides much better, but I'm not sure if it's the new bushing or springs & struts. The tires are just to the top of the wheel wells, and it does look good. So I guess I won't complain much. Any one know of a low tech wheel alignment shop in NJ? No one around here can give an allignment. I guess their machines are just to hightech for my Z LOL.
  9. Looks real nice. When will you be making the 260Z style tranny braket?
  10. The biggest problem with the SU's is that the bushing on the butterfly wears out over time. Ztherapy replaces them with bearings. I'm not sure about Rebello. I've had the Ztherapy ones for about 6 months, and they work flawlessly. To tune a SU for race you need to change the needles. There not much else you can do to them. And then it's trial & error until you get what you want. The SU's are great carbs, although can be difficult to "fine" tune since you have to keep swaping needles until you get it right. If your useing this car for race only you may want to go with the tripple Mukinni or Webers. They are not that great for street driving, since they don't hold a tune for long. But they are a little easier to "fine" tune. Good Luck.

    Awd S30

Sorry if this has been covered already. I read in one of the posts, on a different topic, that if you try and use the Skyline AWD configuration the engine sits to far forward. I don't have a Skyline front clip to compare, but would it be possiable to weld the the front clip (frame rails and strut tower) onto a S30? If the frame rails are about the same distance apart you could replace the S30 frame with that off the Slyline. The hard part would be to then either replace the S30's strut tower, or modify it. What do you Guru's think?
  12. There are many companys that make gauges that fit. Check Summit Racing. Good people, and good prices.
  13. You can use the Z32's tranny with the RB bell? Is this bolt in or do you need to fab it?
  14. Will this Manifold keep your Turbo in the stock location? All of the tube headers I've seen put the turbo on top, and way over to the left. To far over IMO.
  15. That one on Ebay looks a bit chewed up. If you get make sure he checks it for cracks before you pay for it. Cast Iron doesn't like sudden blows, and will crack easily. Can you get them Ceramic Coated? Or will that mess them up in some way?
  16. I think that there is a Canadian named Rick that has real nice mounts that he machines out of alluminum. For us more "fabricationaly" challanged. If Rick is out there could you PM me so I can place an order with you.
  17. Can you get a cast Manifold for a RB26DETT? I'd like to keep a stock location for the turbos. But still put something that can give me 25-30 lbs of boost.
  18. Why are you going with a cast manifold? I figured you'd be going for a trick tube header set up.
  19. Looking sweet. The RB's where made to go into a Z.
  20. I'm sure that there are plenty of people on tis forum that will help you out. If you have a paypal account I would be happy to order from Summit and ship it to you.
  21. OK big question on that part; What's the part#? Where did you get it? How much was it? I hope I have the patience to do this level of detail when I start my project.
