  1. Used the caprice drive shaft from the donor car and it cost $50 to have it shortened, run true, and balanced. Seems very tough and it's STEEL. Not really sure how strong composite or aluminum ones are, but I've had no problems, especially with my currently wimpy motor.

    Kaboom!

Muskrats are nasty lil critters when you want your earth to remain flat and solid (read: mow-able). Worse than moles. Used to hunt them on my parents' land with a scoped 10/22 and, if I felt spanky, a mini-14. Oh, and the whole garage envy thing! Right now I don't even have a carport
  3. I'm currently a student naval aviator. Kinda just starting out in the military. It's certainly better than getting flight hours and experience via the civilian route IMHO. Bob_H on the board here is an instructor in my squadron. Before that I was a: Flight instructor Waiter Baristo Agricultural crew manager (summer job)
  4. Plus, you can't pass up a 4-speed audio system That car looks GOOD on the outside IMHO. Put it through the paces as others have said and tell us what you decide!
  5. Poor skyline! http://www.bofunk.com/video/3278/skyline_r2.html Yes, this is the video that was recently posted on zcar, but not sure if it made its way over here yet. Enjoy!
  6. Dude, that tranny's going to be hurting! I'm JEALOUS!
  7. That's the most inspired thing I have seen in a while!
  8. Yes, and yes. My daily Maxima is just not the same as the little blue beast. I'm waiting on a house with a garage before any further work gets done on her though. For now it is running on a tired sbc/fresh tranny and needs a LOT of work body/rust-wise. Will probably end up looking for a new shell to start out with once in possession of a garage...
  9. Those are about 95 hp and 91 tq, right? Sounds like fun!
  10. My father still has his 305 silverado on the original engine at 250,000 miles. So, no cam problem with his. In fact, he's had the tranny rebuilt at least 2 times. It still lugs the truck around well, so yours should kick an S30 in the ass if it's fresh even though it's not a "350".
  11. NOT missing that right now...loving me some South Texas instead of Illinois like my previous 23 winters!
  12. If you're really going to do this you better have a lot of patience, MONEY, and the ability to shake it off when it doesn't work. If that's the case, more power to you! Not trying to be too negative, but I don't see it as possibly working out well for you. Yes, you would probably be OK if you somehow got it properly cooled, figured out induction and driveline issues, and never dumped the clutch. However, there are surely easier/cooler/more functional/cheaper combinations to be made than this. My 2 cents Pat
  13. I use that one. Yeah it sticks up kinda high, but my non-car-nut friends always remark that it's "cool". Plus, I like it high that way...
  14. After watching it a few times I realize that it is a very inappropriate post/video. Sorry, but it's hilarious and I thought I would share. Pat
  15. WARNING EXPLICIT CONTENT (LANGUAGE) http://collegehumor.com/video:1735402 /END WARNING Just a funny little clip I came across pertaining to auto dealerships! Pat
  16. My insurance went down about $30 a for 6 months moving from Pensacola to Corpus Christi, so that was good. Also, I'm getting married AND turning 25 this year. YEAH!! Pat
  17. Looks GOOD, I had those exact same rims at first. LOL
  18. I don't know if anybody here has seen this yet, so here ya go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190046050848#ebayphotohosting BTW, how can this be street legal w/ no bumpers? And insurance would surely kill you!
  19. I never realized that the 4 door tercel from the mid-90's (manual tranny) weighs in at under a ton! You could even make a good sleeper out of one and get more than 40 mpg if you went turbo. The possibilities... Pat
  20. My brother was driving his S10 Blazer back from school once and had a wheel fall off. Nope, not loose lugs....BROKEN studs! The wheel had been improperly balanced when he got it and apparently enough fatigue imparted on the studs that they just gave up.
  21. Going to start OCS at Pensacola on 15 April! I have a crap ton of stuff to do between now and then, like move out of my apartment, do some online naval knowledge courses, actually quit my job, and drive down there. Wish me luck! I actually am driving up to NSGreatlakes tomorrow morning to sign all the commitment paperwork, etc. It will be for designator 1390, Student Naval Aviator, which is the only way that I will sign. I hope I get the chance to get online every once in a while whilst I'm down there. Supposedly, each room of four guys gets at least one computer. After OCS is API, meaning about a total of a half a year before I go anywhere else but P-cola and its surrounging neighbors. So, is anybody near there? Pat
  22. Don't mean to threadjack here, but I have a 78 that I am going to part out. You could have any part off of it that you may need, just in case you were looking for or had trouble finding another part. However, the tranny is a 4 speed. As for the seal, you may have to resort to scrounging around the local Autozone's assortment. You might get lucky. Oh, yeah, and I'm pretty much "local," being in Champaign. Pat
