Since I'm being brow beat by BRAAP (because he's a picture slut) about my lack of updates...
Sealed/undercoated inner fenders...
Engine bay painted and ready for SR (w/E36 M3 Rack)....
SR reunited (this time with Nissan fluid filled mounts)...
High pressure line for power steering, modified by Oil Filter Services in Portland.
Datsun-to-BMW SS DOT approved brake lines, also by Oil Filter Services.
All the challenging items are officially crossed off. Still have to finish plumbing/electrical, section/install coil-overs, alignments, fluids, etc. I don't expect to have it ready for this weekend's annual camp-in, but it shouldn't be long after.

It would take a whole lot more than Water Wetter to convince me to loop it. It's far to much volume to be bypassing the radiator.

The pro's and con's have been discussed extensively here... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125186

To some degree, I miss...
'72 LT1/T56 240 Z
'88 BMW M3
'70 VW Bus
Life moves on, though. I can't honestly say that I have any regrets... 'it' just 'is'.

Well, that's two doses of infractions for those that can't/won't read/comprehend.
One more time. If you have something USEFUL/HELPFUL to contribute, please do. Otherwise zip it.

Enough bickering already. You guy's are mucking up a perfectly good example of hybridizing. It makes no difference weather you agree or disagree. Let the man build his monster in peace, and share his experience so WE can learn from it. That's the purpose of this forum, in case you've forgotten.
Consider this your warning... If the posts are not constructive, action will be taken.

Do you think you'd be able to post some audio clips of this setup?
Not sure how relevant that will be... Zech is running a Gen1.

An interesting discovery... we noticed, after removing the intake manifold, the backsides of all the valves are spotless. Absolutely no build up. Not representative of a 190K motor. I also noticed a non BMW tag on the block, "LKQ Corporation"... an automotive recycler. Maybe it runs like a low mileage motor because it is?

BRAAP and I weighed the S52 package this afternoon. On the same digital scale, a stock L24, fully dressed & dry, weighed in at 389.4 lbs. The S52, with equivalent components and oil, water, motor mount brackets, weighed in at 406.6. These two motors are within a handful of lbs of each other. A very welcome surprise.
The ZF trans weighed in at 83 lbs (wet), also very close to the L-series weight.
BRAAP will be posting the pictures in this thread, post 2 and 13... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=125246
The car will be weighed before and after to finalize the numbers.

After completely assembling an engine, discovering one wrist pin retainer leftover.
Then, upon a nearly complete teardown, discover it was an extra.

Every so often, I take a stab at bodywork, and I always come to the same two conclusions... I'm no good at it, and I don't enjoy it. I'm done fussing with it... it's 'race car perfect'
One down, one to go...
Stock vs. not...

I never saw a chopper worth owning... except that one!

thatzguy, any further concerns need to be addressed in PM.

thatzguy, your intentions are appreciated, but your timing is not. This is a day of celebration thread, not a first time posters rant thread.

As you've seen, you're going to get a spectrum of answers. Goals/ideals/tolerances differ, as cockerstar alluded. You'll need to come to your own conclusions and discipline. It's not a pass/fail kind of question.
Here's a budget oriented example, done a few years back... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=118146

I don't think it is valve float because it runs fine over 6000RPM, it just doesn't make as much power up there.
The AFR is consistent in the 12.5-13.5 range cross all RPMs.
You'll know it. It makes an ugly sound... sorta like a drunken woodpecker AFR's scatter and adjustments do nothing.

There is no resistance range on 280Z TPS's. The switches are either open or closed.
