  1. Alright, yesterday we had my newly swapped 83 l28et running in my 74 260z. Today we finally bled the brakes and went to start it, but no fuel. Listen for the fuel pump and nothing. Checking the blue/red wire the we connected that is supposed to have 12V for 5 seconds, then 0 V, but it is getting 5 V for 5 seconds THEN 12 V.... very weird. Also, when it is at 12V and connected to the wire that goes to the stock wiring relay for the fuel pump, it gets 0 V. Any ideas?
  2. UPDATE Had my visit the other day and my eye sight is at the exact same prescription as last time in January so they asked if I wanted to be fixed. I have an appointment on Tuesday morning, so hopefully it will work this time around.
  3. when looking at the oil shaft when the distributor is out, there is the half moon shape, does the higher part of the half moon sit to the right or to the left when aligned properly at TDC at 11:25?
  4. I've got one from a 76 280z. Ready to ship whenever you need it. e-mail me if you still need one.
  5. I've searched and found http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=140191&highlight=oil+shaft the rotor is said to need to be "in line with the red line in this picture, pointing to the front of the car." So is the picture there in the wrong position, and its supposed to be aligned with the red line? I originally had the marks on the oil pump and spindle shaft aligned, and the rotor at TDC on the compression stroke was shown mirror image of the picture shown in the link (kind of pointing at the distributor cap bolt around 8 o'clock). The closest timing we could get was about 25 deg, by rotating the distributor. The engine ran ok, but not great. So, we tried to redo the spindle orientation by removing the oil pump, we we got the same location that the picture in the link shows (about 10 o'clock), and the closest timing we could get was about 5 deg. The engine ran very bad compared to previous location. I know we need around 18-20, so is there a spindle tooth I missed in the middle or is something else wrong. This is an 83 l28et engine, ECU, and wiring harness into a 74 260z. I did notice that in the Haynes manual, the Firing order on the distributor has plug 1 at the about 7 or 8 o'clock location, but the distributor cap I have that is new is about 10 o'clock. Maybe one suggestion could be rotating the wires around and double check that.. Thanks for any help!
  6. Ya, it is awkward. I remember when I bought these, the guy had a post parting out a 280zx turbo and I asked if he still had the injectors and he did, he also sent me a turbo fuel pump from it as well.
  7. Anyone have any updates on this? I am putting my motor together and have these green tops with RI-507, but was told they were from a turbo motor.
  8. Hey, I am putting my final things on the turbo swap and I have the 280zxt fan and clutch, but the hit the radiator. I need whatever fan and clutch, or just the fan that will give the needed clearance from the radiator. Thanks guys, Joe
  9. I like how they added the frontal crash air bags...
  10. I just posted that I figured mine out. I wonder if the curved auto tranny you used is the same as the stock T5 one from an 83?
  11. I got it mounted last night. I rotated the transmission mount 180 deg then slotted the holes so it could slide forward about 1/4" Then trimmed the rear urethane bushing a bit to help slide it in the tunnel brackets. Slotting the crossmember also helped in lining it up. I'll have pics sometime this week.
  12. EMWHYROHEN, do you go to CAL POLY SLO??? If so send me a PM!
  13. I'm looking for the piece of rubber that goes between the turbo and the J-Pipe. Thanks guys, Joe
  14. There's a similar thread on zcar.com and 1 guy is saying he rotated his tranny mount 180 deg and it worked on his 74. Well, it's not working on my 74 so I will play with it more tomorrow.
  15. I can try that too, but it didn't look like that tranny mount has enough material to remove to get the about 1/2" I need. I am getting a diff mount tonight so I will check them both out again tomorrow.
  16. I need a front differential mount. The one with the rubber and a mounting bolt, like the transmission mount. Thanks!
  17. I just tried installing a T5 into my 74 260z and slotted the transmission crossmember about 1/2" back, but when you slide it up into the transmission mount, the mount repositions the crossmember back to almost stock location making my slot useless. I search and found that speeder switched to a front differential mount instead of the transmission mount and slotted THOSE holes. I am working on getting the front differential mount in my hands to modify. I will take some pictures to make a write up and maybe sticky for future people.
  18. If I try clicking on the search button along the top, the add covers it up and I can't search. Edit, actually it's not the ad. Its the feature itself.
