  1. I never said I was a Christian hater, nor am I discussing my views to reflect any dislike for christianity. I have my reasons for not liking any form of organized religion, but I keep them to myself. I argue that a large body of organized religion has bad influence on minority religions, as history has shown in the past. This is why it doesn't belong in any form of government, and why it doesn't belong in public schools. Look at the teachers in alabama who were instructing students to pray in class? What should the buddhist kid, or the agnostic kid do? What happens when the influenced teens learn that their peer is a wiccan? I have a few very pious friends (christian, some are probably reading this right now) that have a lot of respect from me. Reason for that is that they are understanding and do not force their views on me, and I can discuss various aspects without getting into a shouting match on who's right and wrong. Only because they came here because they were ousted out of OTHER countries for being a different religion. Aside from that, christianity did not form this country. As far as pledges, commandments and such go, it's a thin line we walk where we piss someone off with our actions, and where we don't. For example, the commandment "You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth" doesn't really apply to a native american whose primary beliefs are that of animism and polytheism? or an egyptian who still worships the old gods and thinks he'll be crossing the river Styx when he dies. The president swears on the bible because it's tradition. We've never had a modern president who's NOT of christian or catholic faith, therefore we've not yet run into the problem of the president swearing on the bible. Or one who's an atheist. Jon, I think you also missed my entire write up about how our presidents weren't as religious as people made them up to be. All I am saying is there's nothing wrong with religion in private lives, just don't mix it in with the way the country is run, or it will create conflicts.

    Ahem.

true, but you know what they say about opinions, right ? cuz to someone else, a Z is just a cheap ferrari/jag knock off without the traditional heritage
  3. Actually, you're absolutely wrong. Our government was NOT founded on christianity. Christianity just happens to be the currently most popular religion in this country. Our founding fathers weren't Christian. George Washington was a Deist. Thomas Jefferson was on his own, no specified religion, but he specifically stated that he denounced "the superstitions of christianity." John Quincy Adams was a Unitarian. Ben Franklin was a Calvanist. Thomas Paine wrote "I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of...Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all." From: The Age of Reason by Thomas Paine That excerpt is taken from the Treaty of Tripoli written in 1796, and the phrase "In God We Trust" was not common on US currency until McCarthy instated that during the Red scare in the 50s. Same goes for pledge of allegiance (the red scare reference). The main reason for separation of church and state is because if our body is governed by a religious mass, we will simply revert to majority picking on minority religions, and christianity and catholicism aren't very tolerant of other religions. While you as an individual may be wise enough not to yell "Jews killed Christ" because you know that's not true, there are 10,000 dumbasses out there who will. And yes, I was siding with the guy who wanted "one nation, under god" struck from the school pledge, and I was siding with the people who thought to see fit to have the 10 commandments removed from courthouse. Why? Because they're simple common rules set forth to live by, but only commandments 6 and 8 apply to today's society that are punishable rules.

    Ahem.

Kind of like putting an SBC into a 240z, right? For reference how stock motor sits
  5. Please do not associate religion and state together - our government was not instituted in place by god. There's a very good reason why we have separation of church and state: and that reason is major conflict of interest.
  6. my friend asked me to follow her to a shop so she could drop off her car, and drive her back. Whatever, not a problem, but she has a 6 year old that's very loud at times, and doesn't listen. So, fast forward to the time we get to the shop. She's writing a note about the car to drop off with the key, and her kid's now in the back seat of my car. He unbuckles his belt, and starts collecting loose change on the floor of the car. I tell him "that's not your money, please give it back to me." him: no, I found it, finder's keepers. me: ok.... since you're in my car, you're now my property. I own you now. him: !?!? No I'm not me: well, I found you in my car, just going by your rules. then I turn to his mom, who's outside, and go "Since Danny found change in my car he's claiming as his own, do I get to keep him as a personal slave since he's in my car?" She goes "Sure, have at it." I turn to him and say "well, looks like you're gonna have a fun time at my place being my slave, doing all my cleaning and stuff. I just took the biggest dump, and it's clogged. You're gonna have to clean it. With your bare hands." The kid's eyes widen in fear. I put the car in gear, and start leaving. He starts screaming, then screams turn to cries and sobs and "I want my mommy!" yelps. Halfway around the block, I stop the car, and tell him "well, either you give me my money back, and I take you back to your mom, or we go back to my house and you get to clean poo." The money is in my hand in an instant. We drive back, he bolts out of the car to his mom. At which point she says, "ok danny, get back into the car." The kid looks up at her with the "WTF, are you crazy!?" look.
  7. hammer worked for me at a junkyard, and there are a couple of people on hybridz that sell the spindle pin puller. infact, check brake/chassis thread for the spindle puller rotation program
  8. you could cheat and add washers, cheap way of increasing caster, but not highly adjustable
  9. wah wah. go to a junkyard and get another pair of strut housings. for $40 total.
  10. The fact that it says that baby sufferred rectal damage is enough to say that SOMEONE did it. In either case, as it stands, someone is really f#cked up in the head, be it the father or anyone else. If the father's found guilty when evidence points to him, then rally the mob. Otherwise John's right, we got carried away with mob mentality. Although the same punishment should apply to anyone who did that, because anyway you look at it, someone did the horror

    510 Guys

510 coupes and sedans were irs, the wagons were live rear axle
  12. actually, no. child molesters have it worst in prison: trust me, he's going to suffer a whole lot at hands of other inmates. About as bad as crooked cops that wind up in prison. if he's lucky to remain alive, that is

  14. actually, it's most likely the steering knuckles that are toast. turns out to be a common problem.
  15. would you be able to get a couple of pictures for visual reference? thanks!
  16. Your Z is 2" off the ground? THat's not very streetable, and you're going to hate speedbumps (and any track with changes in elevation and terrain). the solution would be to bring your diff up - probably by customer designing a raised front mount, and drilling new (higher) holes in the mustache bar, if that's possible
  17. so, which car do you have? I searched your posts, and you have a '79-83 280zx, a 76 280zx, and a 73 280z (only one of those really exists as a model)
  18. california emission laws are based on federal emission laws. certain companies bring in cars designated specifically for california in terms of smog (ie. most motorcycles come in either 50 state legal flavor, or 48... 48 being hawaii and ca. excluded, nissan sentra CA edition, mitsubishi eclipse with 5 less hp, etc). i think with all original smog equipment the car shouldn't ahve any problems passing smog
  19. all tight bushings are ES 50k miles old. in any case, it might be the infamous steering knuckle clunk (bad bearing), there's a technical service bulletin about it from dodge from a while back
  20. 80k, yes, but the collision was 3 years ago. nothing was done with the car when the noise started: tires are new (literally under 2k miles on them). Rotors are fine, car doesn't pull, no pulsation when stopping
  21. About 3 weeks ago, I got this nasty clunk coming from the front of my neon. It happens either on very low speed speed-bumps, or high speed turns. The sound actually can be felt through the frame, like something is shifting and hitting which scares me. For the life of me, I got no clue what's going on. At first, I thought it was a tranny mount, but after pulling all the mounts, I was confused - all of the mounts were in perfect tip top shape. So, I put in rex inserts back in the mounts, and put them back in. I noticed the rubber isolator on the bobble strut mount was toast - so I figured it was the strut clunking against bare metal (rear transmission mount for the neon) Got a replacement one, put it in, put bobble strut back in, the clunk's still there. I'm confused and it's annoying as hell, and scares me that it might be a CV axle. CV boots are intact, great shape. Today I pulled the front sway, car makes a lot less noise, but it'll still clunk once in a while. (of course, car handles like sh*t now). I thought it might be the strut mounts, so I pulled the driver's side front strut out, it checks ok. Didn't check the strut bearing, but the car tracks straight, doesn't bind after turns. The wheel bearing are probably ok, because I don't get a jitter at high speeds.... I'm confused. Any input? On a side note, I forgot about fwd cars - if I leave it in gear, will an open diff fwd still spin even if car's in gear? Mine will spin the wheels in diff directions while in gear, I believe that's normal for fwd, right? For some reason I recall being able to tighten the lugnuts without the wheel spinning freely when the tranny was in gear. Maybe the spur gear went out? goddamn POS dodges Thanks, -alex
  22. well, your current strut is held by rubber, so it can't be much worse:)
