  1. those are from a series 5, so I'd guess about 8-9 lbs each
  2. a rotary? Apex seal popped, broke, and tumbled around a few [dozen] times within the rotor housing. Check out the gouges! The funny thing is that the rotor housing was completely intact, and NOT damaged at all
  3. the wide 4pot calipers designed to go with 300zx vented rotors will not clear those wheels. if you're planning on putting the 79-83 calipers, which are designed as a direct bolt on without rotor swap involved, then you should be ok
  4. john, that doesn't always work. I tried everything possible to get my driver's drum off: I've banged on it with a sledge, I've roasted it with a propane torch, I've ground off anything resembling a rust formation. The only way I got it off was by dropping the strut assembly and removing the stub axle nut. I hit it with a sledge from the back, and it popped out. I had to get new stub axles anyway (thanks chevsun!)
  5. If you need it back tomorrow, we will probably finish pulling the motor out, so you can get it back!
  6. Thanks, I figured this would be a good idea to pioneer something if I can - plus my buddy does a good job of rotary rebuilds, so labor and learning are free! The t25(?) turbo that came stock with it has no play in it at all, it's like new! Now, the motor itself was in bad shape - but I got it dirt cheap with the transmission and all accessories attached. 3 out of 5 housings are bad and need to be replaced, but the rotors are ok (dirty and with tons of carbon build up, but ok). We also have a bunch of spare components for the rotary (actually, 2 13b turbos were purchased, one by myself, one by my friend). Now the insane amount of money on rebuilding a rotary will begin, followed by t04 purchase and hopefully a decent intercooler. Also need to pick up a new clutch to go with it. I'll keep you guys updated on progress (it's going to halt for a while as I scramble for more parts). Len, glad to hear the valences worked out for you - I figured they would since the color matches, and mine were in good shape. Davy's a wuss, his car's silver and he's planning on keeping it silver By the way, you wouldn't happen to know/have any rotor/side housings for a series 4/5 motor, would you? On mine, the carbon build up took the chrome off the surface, so they're not exactly usable anymore
  7. nah, leonard said I wouldn't do the turbo rotary swap in the Z. I'm proving him wrong see my 13b turbo post below

  9. http://www.jasc.com has a 30 day trial of paintshop pro 7
  10. Three Die Retrieving Phone from Latrine NAIROBI (Reuters) - Three Kenyans died trying to retrieve a mobile phone that slipped down an open-pit latrine while its owner answered a call of nature, a newspaper reported on Friday. Anxious to recover her phone, the owner in the coastal town of Mombasa offered 1,000 shillings ($13.09) to anyone who would recover it, the Daily Nation said. Well over half the Kenyan population of 30 million people lives on less than $1 a day. The first to try -- a 30-year-old radio technician -- failed to resurface after disappearing down a ladder into the latrine. His friend went after him but slipped and fell. The third casualty, trying to rescue the others, was hauled out of the pit by neighbors after he inhaled the fumes and lost consciousness. The man was rushed to hospital but died on the way. "The fumes inside must be extremely poisonous considering the short time it was taking to disable the retrievers," acting Mombasa police chief Peter Njenga was reported as saying. The Daily Nation said police prevented a fourth man from climbing into the latrine and the search for the phone was eventually abandoned.
  11. different compression, completely different intake and exhaust ports ( the na motor has 6 intake runners, the turbo has 4), etc. the motors also differ (ie. 86-91 rx7 had 2 different motors - series 4 and 5, and so did the 79-84 rx7 - initially 12a 1.2 liter carb'd rotary, and then a 1.3 FI). Rebuild kit also costs about a grand, and this does NOT include rotor housings or rotors.
  12. Z06's handling is very very good in stock form. Take a car with 405hp, 50/50 weight distribution, weigh it in at around 3200lbs, with a 6 speed and very big brakes. Add in 275 wide tires, and you've got yourself a lean mean street machine. You hang out with uneducated people The Z06 has a lot more to offer than just power and compensation for small genitals, like braking, handling, etc. It's as much a track machine as it is a chick magnet. I wouldn't own one to pick up chicks, though. What exactly is wrong with Ford using a supercharger? It's true that the production run of 2003 cobras was halted because of some problems, but Ford was not dumb for putting out a car that costs under 40k, and makes 390 at the wheels (power is underrated, like chevy camaros)
  13. there was, and it was also the final year for integra. however, try as they might, and integra type R will not outhandle a z06. end of story.
  14. some botched up abortion from clubsi. Fortunately, not from the vs. forum where all the LS1 and mustang owners hang out.
  15. I just had 2 calls from AT&T about long distance and local calling plans, about 10 minutes apart. Who the fucks calls me up at 9am on saturday? So in turn, I use such opportunities o entertain myself: 1st one: 5 min. ago: TM: hi sir, can i interest you in a new local calling plan? I'm sure you're tired of talking on your phone and paying high rates me: what's a phone? TM: It's uh.... the thing you're talking to me on? me: I don't have one of those TM: Of couse you do, you're talking on one right now! me: you lie! TM: Are you serious? You're talking to me on the phone right now! me: Blasphemy! This magic box is possessed! I'm going to have to exorcize it now! Begone, foul demons! *click* 2nd: TM: Hi, my name is Markus, and I'm calling to see if you're interested in signing up with at&t for long distance calling [let's ignore the fact that I already have at&t for long distance!] me: what are you wearing? TM: Excuse me? me: I said, what are you wearing? Is it sexy? *click*
  16. 'Hi honey? I saw this ad in the Enquirer, and it said "Learn how not to be ripped off on scams: send $5 to...." I'll send $10, we'll be doubly protected!'
  17. exactly. it'd cost a fortune to get flares done right, and it'd cost a fortune to either fix the rims or get them replaced. Either of which I'll do much later.
  18. there's a shop in san mateo, i can't recall the name of it, that has done an sr20det swap into a 240z
  19. Well, I'm not saying have some hockey shadetree mechanic do it, but a professional shop. Why would this pose a problem [or, deathwish, as you put it]? The rims are originally two piece and there's a weldseam on the back. Is it because the metal would be weakened from previous welding around the edge of the inner piece?
  20. Well, i can't get a new set of CCW wheels because they'd cost a LOT more than what I paid for these.
  21. true... but the thing is I am not too interested in putting flares on unless they are perfectly molded and have that "right" blend to them, which will require more money than I have to spend. I'll just sit on it and wait unless there's something cheaper than 400 bucks
