  1. yesterday the civic club i'm an admin for had a small gathering (about 20 or so people) in san jose. of course, not limited to civics since I usually bring the Z there, or my daily driver neon. A new guy decided to drop by, and man...talk about a surprise car. It's a yellow VW golf vr6, slightly lowered, and with interior stripped out in the rear, an autopower rollcage, strut bars visible. The custom plates read M3 KILR. Nothing much to look at, right? Except that slightly visible intercooler up front. Turns out he has a T60 turbo on that 2.8L v6 stroked to 3 liters. He ran 12.6 on street tires, with a 3 second 0-60 foot time (can you say lack of traction?). he dynoed 360hp/385tq @10psi boost and 91 octane, and 565hp @ 17psi on 100 octane race gas! Talk about nuts! and this is also his daily driver! Suspension's also done w/ coilovers, 550lb/in springs front, 800lb/in springs in rear. He usually runs thunderhill and buttonwillow racetracks, also a very down to earth and technical guy.
  2. haha very nice, but i think you might want to edit that for people that have little kids around, or are at work
  3. http://www.tshirthell.com/shirts/tshirt.php?sku=a102 I warned you!

  6. by default, yes. but what if you're wearing star trek leathers?
  7. c'mon guys, you can't argue opinions cause you know what they say about them... it involves buttholes and smell. on a side note, I don't really understand how it can be considered ugly - it's fron of a corvette and rx7 lines along with everything else coming from a Z, and with beautiful taillights...
  8. and since you're in bay area, you'll probably catch him either riding or driving, since he's from pleasant hill. in either case, doing wheelies and stunts on a populated highway is generally stupid, which is where he wiped out and broke his foot and wrist (got off lucky).
  9. http://misc.miloonline.net/eq_ogre_battle.mpg I am simply speechless, I mean.... they're acting out from what I learned was a...... computer game?!?! I mean, I was a loser before, but this puts me right smack in the middle of coolsville. ever seen that cartoon someone made called summoner geeks? "I want to cast... magic missile! I am attacking the darkness!"

  12. hybridZ is almost 3000 members now, and we have a lot of groups spread out throughout the country. I think it'd be a good idea to develop regional forums (i brought this up to mikelly before), where members can discuss local stuff, decide on meets, events and such. Something like: north west (OR, WA, and the like) norcal socal (we need 2, california is a LONG state) southwest (NM, AZ, etc) midwest (colorado, utah, etc) ohio (we have a lot of people from just ohio alone) north east (VM, NH, NY, NJ, PA, and the like) south east (FL, NC, SC, VA, etc) texas something along these lines. input?
  13. Jason - how much did the front clip cost you, and where did you get it from?
  14. It would have to come down in price quite a bit, I don't think anyone wants to shell out 27k just to swap in an SBC for the weight, cost, and motor one can snag a z28 that will weigh 400lbs more, but will already have an LS1 in it with a t56 for less money too
  15. ahem... http://www.hybridz.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=000222 i posted it a week ago

That's why when I see her stuff on mtv, I promptly hit mute, and enjoy the show
  17. Dan, you making woodlaid interior for your Z?
  18. I would've gone, but I fear someone dicked around with my Z's gas tank, so I need to drain it and flush it and get a locking gas cap
  19. thanks for the input, guys, i'll try them today or tomorrow
  20. hahah oh man.. Well, i feel pretty stupid. To eliminate all possible causes, I took the battery to Kragen for them to charge and see if it holds a charge. While that was being done, I crawled over the engine compartment, checked all possible leads, everything's intact and not burned (except for my fuse box, which is mostly molten). Confused, I decided to go get the battery, and if that wasn't hte problem, whip out a voltimeter and a dummy light to start tracing. I go to Kragen, and the guy tells me that the battery I bought in may (with new cables, et al) is dead. So i got a new battery and the engine cranked no problem. I guess my neon's alt. doesn't generate enough cca to crank the Z starter, and the battery wouldn't hold any charge when i was letting it charge up w/ jumper cables. On a side note, I cranked the engine, it idled for a minute, but i killed it when I noticed that my gas tank rubber flap thingy was outside of the fuel door, and not in it. I got all paranoid, checked the filler neck for traces of sugar or what not...crawled on the ground to see if anyone spilled any,....and quite honestly I'm not convinced - I might drain the tank out of paranoia. I couldn't tell if I saw sugar crystals on the ground, but ... you know, paranoia = awareness -alex
  21. jaime: i checked that one when i had some light out, it seemed to be intact. just weird as hell
  22. Drove it Sunday, ran like a champ. Parked it, went home. Tonight, went to start the car...nothing, not even the interior lights turn on. I figured I drained the battery, so I pulled my neon up, ran some jumper cables, waited about 10 minutes with the neon running to charge it up, and...nothing. no lights, no crank, nothing. My car set me up the bomb... what's the reason Johnny 5 is not alive? This isn't an emergency, I have a backup car, but I still don't want my Z to turn into one of those piles of metal sitting for ages rotting away. It's too dark to check anything now, but when I looked, everything seemed to be intact. I am guessing fusible links? Were are they located on a 240? Any input besides that? thanks, -alex, now a proud owner of a dead Z

I dunno, Pete... We'd probably be listening to country - he would've turned to being a sellout like metallica! and sue napster!

Hey, what has 7 arms and sucks? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . def leppard I'm not even going to bother with drowning pool's lead singer... he was found face on the floor in a pool of vomit - that's 2 bad puns I can make. I'd also like to add the following: Offspring - bad habit, great anti traffic song , heck about 75% of old school offspring songs. Beastie Boys - In sound from the way out album. it's basically 70s disco style remixes, great for that 'pimpin' feeling. Best achieved when my friend and I are driving in his police packaged 1972 plymouth fury III old school metallica songs: -battery -master of puppets -orion -one -the four horsemen -hit the lights -metal militia -the frayed ends of sanity -shortest straw -blackened -creeping death AC/DC: -hell's bells -highway to hell -shoot to thrill -jingle hell's bells -thunder struck Jackyl - Down on Me Iron Maiden - Fear of hte Dark and Weekend Warrior Golden Earring - Twilight Zone and Radar Love Andrew WK - Party Hard (don't ask!) Five Iron Frenzy - Phantom Mullet Steppenwolf - magic carpet ride Megadeth: -Skin o'my Teeth -high speed dirt -captive honor -angry again -anarchy in the USA (sex pistols cover) Rancid: -bloodclot -if the kids are united -time bomb -salvation -i wanna riot I'll probably add more later
