  1. you guys forget that I live in california...where you're not allowed to do anything to the SKS except the stock 10 round fixed mag. I also have to wait 10 days, and buy a lock when I pick up the gun. I've also got a russian mosin nagant m44 and a turk 8mm mauser:
  2. call autometer, tell them the situation that you need a speedo sensor. they will point you to a speedo shop in montana or somethin that does this. I got my sensor for my rx7 transmission from them. 90 bucks

It handles perfectly straight up to 130 mph - top speed so far. This car does NOT sit in the garage and look pretty. It drives around town and looks "surprisingly normal." That is, until the rear engine is fired up...
  4. Garrett, uh... buddy... your sig is bigger than most people's posts You uh.. wanna fix that?
  5. rival: I've got a full sized turk mauser, made in '43. zhadman: Idiots. "Oh no, I'm all american, i have to stick to american guns because I'm patriotic!" a gun is a gun, and soviet stuff is often more reliable than US. Hell, why is the ak47 the most popular gun in the world? You can throw it in sand, mud, let it rust for a year, and it'll still work!
  6. Maybe... if you couldn't find it by searching, and no one replied... it just may be possible that no one on THIS forum has done the swap? I've seen it done in pictures, but don't recall anyone here doing the swap. That said, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
  7. http://www.surplusrifle.com/sks/index.asp russian SKS. now i have to wait 10 days
  8. rove down to another mazda dealer, bs'd with the sales manager (he's a Z guy, apparently) which led to him giving me the keys to a mazda3 and telling me to go have fun. this mazda3 2.3 seemed to feel way more fun than the previous one I drove, and gripped much better, even though it had the same tires. then we went for a spin in the new 06 miata with the gt package. 6 speed, lsd, 18" wheels... holy ****, this car is FUN. First of all... the engine note is reminicent of the old mg roadster... the growl, the wind out... it was a mellodeous. The transmission is really close, even taller gears. At 70mph, I was doing about 3,500rpm in 6th. The clutch is weird, there's no engagement point... I stalled it the first time because it has about 1" of travel before full engagement and requires no effort. Once used to it, it's quite nice. The car handles like crazy. It will go where you want it to go. it's balanced, it's neutral, it feels like an extension of your body. I did make the traction light come on a few times. The sales manager was pleased Interior: a bit cramped, but what do you expect? with top down at 70mph, you can carry on a conversation, it's relatively quiet.
  9. one you make yourself using geometry, measurements, raw materials and a welder
  10. well, if you think about it, mazda stopped rx7 production to the US in 95. Japan continued to produce the FD until 99 because japan has different smog restrictions than US. I'm not saying the FD motor isn't weak, but the US version was hindered by smog restrictions, that eventually led to quicker failure.
  11. rear differential, and if you're handy with a welder and sawzall, the rear suspension assembly. Some members here have swapped out rear s13/s14 control arms and differential into a 240z, but it requires a lot of structural modifications
  12. don't know what the inside joke is, but I suppose it could be worse... this could be your sig:
  13. it's in the post look at the last lines of the quote. $10,500. the "delicate motor" and "doesn't like mods" is not a true statement for the 13b-rew. You have to modify it to make it more reliable. Smog equipment and restrictions are what made the motor weak in terms of reliability. Too much backpressure and heat in a confined space resulting in vaccuum lines drying out, turbos going out, and apex seals blowing. reliability mods for 3rd gen rx7s: http://www.robrobinette.com/reliabiltiy.htm
  14. both. he originally bought it to swap an ls1 into, and then got himself a c5r 427 motor. IIRC, it's a running drivable car
  15. don't have that info off hand, but I'll get it soon, or your friend can shoot jack an email, put them in direct contact and take the middle man out of the picture
  16. Info: 93 rx7 R1 model, 70k miles. salvage title due to theft (I have a carfax for it too). PM me for friend's phone # more pics here: http://www.datsunracing.com/forsale/fd

  18. I don't think you're going to be able to run +15mm offset on a 10.5" wheel. My Z with coilovers and a +10mm 16x8" wheel on the rear.
  19. see, soilwork is too much screaming for me. I've listened to their stuff, and it doesn't appeal. Other good bands: nightwish, Symphony X, Iced earth
  20. yeah, but you need sometihng to listen to when you're wrenching on a car that doesn't move under its own power!
  21. 80s metal is not metal. It's glam rock. glam rock includes = poison, alice cooper, ratt, etc. glam rock is not: megadeth, metallica, etc.
  22. Like I said, I don't like screaming metal. When the vocal chords sound like they're torn, I stop listening In Flames is borderline for me, and I enjoy their stuff quite a bit.
