  1. Any place that carries energy suspension parts should carry ES bushings grease. That's the white stuff you're thinking of

  3. here's california's assault weapons list and category info: http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/awguide/ What identifies an assault rifle: 12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding Penal Code section 12276, “assault weapon†shall also mean the following: Rifles (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. ( A thumbhole stock. © A folding or telescoping stock. (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher. (E) A flash suppressor. (F) A forward pistol grip. (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches. Note: Bayonets and bayonet lugs are not assault weapon characteristics under California law. my notes: -so yugo SKS rifles are legal if they're stock 59 model, or 59/66 with grenade launcher removed and a california legal muzzle welded on. This is why they're also more expensive. -so the way the AR15 is legal is because while it has a pistol grip, it does have any of the other features. california requires 2 of those to make the gun illegal Pistols (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer. ( A second handgrip. © A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel. (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip. (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. Shotguns (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following: (A) A folding or telescoping stock. ( A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip. (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine. (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
  4. the AR was 900 bucks. Info on HK G11 here: http://world.guns.ru/assault/as42-e.htm
  5. unless you need a 1970 to restore for a classic feel of originality, I'd say go with a 73. It had some problems fixed (half shaft angle, transmissions, etc) and side impact beams added. Plus you get little cool storage bins behind the seats. That said, I'm going to be an *** and call the guy with the 73
  6. nope. I just wandered into a dealership, the sales manager turned out to be a Z guy, we BS'd, he handed me the keys to a mazda3 and said "go nuts. come back when you're ready" Then I testdrove the 06 mazda miata gt
  7. LOL. I've been in an integra that ran 11.8 at the track... and it was teh guy's daily driver. t3/4 hybrid, stand alone, built 1.8 liter LS block, about 450hp. All I remember is that by the time we got off the offramp onto the freeway, we were at 125... and it was still pulling really really hard, as fast as my bike
  8. Here, hopefully this will help you out when buying a used bike: http://www.clarity.net/adam/buying-bike.html Keep in mind, when buying a helmet make sure it fits snug and tight. it will loosen up after a while, like a broken in baseball glove. When fitting, your face should be tight in it to a point where if you move the helmet around, the skin on your face moves with the helmet. But not tight enough to where it's painful to your face. Keep in mind that you're basically putting a value on your head: cheap helmet = crap for ventilation, comfort, safety, etc. I recommend Shoei or Arai. I've owned both and both served their purpose very well. A ninja250 is a great starter bike, you can find them dirt cheap. They're slow, but great commuters. It's a v-twin 250cc, with 25hp and 14 ft lbs of torque. Runs 15.5 in quarter mile. Another good one is a ninja 500 or suzuki gs500. Suzuki sv650 is a great bike for comfort, handling and beginner power, if you want to step up to a bigger v-twin.
  9. first thing, take the MSF course. It has many benefits: teach you how to ride on a 250cc bike provided to you, seat time and real experience, final test counts towards DMV motorcycle license, and many insurance companies give discounts for completing the course http://www.msf-usa.org second, save up 1k for gear. you will need protective jacket, helmet, gloves, pants and boots. last two are optional, but highly recommended. third, get a used bike. it'll be cheaper, you won't cry if you drop it (and you probably will, everyone does) like you would with a brand new bike. I've been riding on/off for 5 years, and just picked up a 2000 yzf600r, which gets 50mpg on average if I don't hammer on the throttle, has about 75-80whp, and is more comfortable than a regular crotchrocket, and can still carve corners very well. I paid 2800 for one in decent shape with 16k miles. I'd recommend it to anyone: http://www.datsunracing.com/z/yzf pics in URL above
  10. gearing. it's all about gearing and better acceleration that everyone wants. The mazda3s (2.3 liter) has 4.1 final drive, and .75 overdrive 5th. My neon, 99 r/t, has 3.94:1 final, and .81 5th, but it's a 2 liter with a performance tranny, regular neon has 3.55 and .74 5th for REALLY good fuel economy. Look at the new miata: 2 liter, 170hp, 6 speed transmission... I took it out for a test drive, I was turning 3500rpm in 6th gear at 70mph! that's some crazy gearing that kills fuel economy
  11. funny you should mention that, I have a buyer for my neon and I'm looking at the mazda3 myself. I've test driven 4 of them, and while they understeer pretty bad, they're quite capable handling cars and get 32 mpg on the freeway. Unfortunately, it's a step down from the neon in fuel economy. My R/T would get 35-36mpg on the freeway.
  12. since he has the title to the car, what you should've done is just leave teh car as is. As long as you sent in your form of release of liability, the car is no longer your liability. Whatever he does with the car is his problem.
  13. you're welcome! (just kidding!)
  14. your price range is up to 8k, right? opt for a 95-99 maxima. more power (195 vs. 160), 5 speed, roomy, a/c. 99s go for 7-8k I'd avoid bmw because repairs will be costly, and you're investing in a 10-13 year old car. While it may have low miles or great engine, everything else is worn with time: bushings, shocks, lines, etc. Just steer clear of early 90s audis unless you have deep pockets. For 9-10k you can find a 2.3 liter ford focus, or a 98-99 subaru 2.5rs impreza (one of them has a problematic DOHC motor, stay away from it. SOHC were put back in service because they were problem free)
  15. scottie: that's easily resolved. you don't drive a porsche, you drive a copy of a porsche: an rx7! the porsche can be fixed with an SBC
  16. I am pretty sure that an lt1 t56 should bolt right up. All GM sbc 350 blocks including LT1 have pretty much same casting, no? I'd suggest asking in the chevy forum, even though this is the drivetrain, you would get better information in the chevy forums because it's closer to the motor than drivetrain as far as information category goes
  17. hah, I cracked that 12 sec 1/4 mile joke about 2 years ago on here... Here's another good one. Getting power out of a chevy TBI motor is kind of like having sex and orgasming while standing on your head: technically possible, but very difficult to achieve
  18. yup, and to keep up with americans, russians introduced the 5.45 caliber ak74. Stoner's main design for the .223 was weight saving. The m16 was a good accurate gun, but failed in the south east asia's jungles because the troops were never properly instructed how to maintain and clean them Speaking of light interesting firearms... Too bad this never made it into production: HK G11. Caseless ammo, 50 round (or optional 100) magazine, fully loaded weighed about 10lbs. Could fire 3 round burst with delayed recoil until 3rd round
  19. that's nothing, that's a 3rd gen. Should've asked him how many headgaskets he's gone through the worst are the mk4 supra elitists
  20. I actually have teh C&R application in front of me that was mailed in a packet. I just haven't sent it in yet. Takes 2 months to get the license
  21. way ahead of you in california. those are already banned here since dec 04
  22. and we have classified ads too
  23. I saw a colt ar15 for sale at the local shop, but it had a fixed 10 round mag to abide with the california laws. By the way, Sarah Brady, as in the Brady Law, has a CCW license as well.
