  1. 1. net flywheel hp rating was 129 2. pete brock racing enterprises and bob sharp racing . Bob sharp also ran a datsun dealership 3. too much demand and not enough production models available in showroom floors. Same thing that's happening with the toyota prius hybrid right now. They sell used for as much as new because of the demand, and dealers sell them at 4-5k mark up Good thing I actually read my "How to hot rod and race your datsun" book (Thanks davyz!) and watched the history channel specials Did I win?
  2. 245/50/15 225/60/15 235/55/15 if you can find it

  4. "honey, just show up naked holding a cold beer!"
  5. oh no... more clubsi people making it over here!
  6. Thanks for the input, Ross, and everyone else. I'll give it a shot combining front 10" 175 lb hypercoils and rear 10" 200lb eibachs and see how that works out first, since I already have all those. My biggest concern was whether manufacturers should be mixed, but I think I'll be alright. If not, I'll get some hypercoils for the rear
  7. I'm riding home from a local Z meet today, and a guy on a nicely done custom chopper pulls up besides me and passes me. He's wearing almost full gear, which is odd for a harley rider... so I pull up next to him at the light... the engine looks different. it says "The Blown Wolf" on the side...and there's a blue bottle in front of it. I look at him, he looks at me, light turns green, he nails it. I mean, ******* NAILS it. He's doing 100, and I'm struggling to catch up. No dice. At the next light, I have to yell at him because the bike is so loud "THAT IS ******* NUTS!" He nods and as the next light turns green, nails it. I see a big cloud of black smoke get dumped from the exhaust (or, I should say, just to pipes wrapped in thermal wrap coming straight off the headers), the rear wheel (which looked like a 255 tire) squats, the bike gets sideways (about 80mph), catches on and disappears until I manage to row through gears and redlines to catch up. ******* CRAZY. I can't imagine the feeling he got out of hitting that nitrous button!
  8. mostly street with occasional track/autox. with 200lb/in springs it was fairly stiff in stock form for me
  9. it's not that significant. the beauty of inline 6 engines is that they're balanced, produce much better torque curves than their inline4 counterparts, and are smoother. If you go by your question, why not just have one big 6 liter cylinder, right? When you drive a stock Z, it feels pretty smooth, doesn't it? no serious engine vibrations, low end torque off the line I think cyl 1 and 5 on the Z motor basically cancel each other out when it comes to vibration 4 cylinder engines in rwd configurations weren't common until later in the century because there was no real need to have a 4 cyl. 4 cylinder engines really came out of necessity when everyone started converting to fwd, and it helped a lot with space up front because now the transmission had to sit to the side of the motor
  10. It'll look something like this: The setup belongs to a buddy, same motor as I have, just in a different chassis. He's using a mitsubishi td07 turbo which is very close to the t04 garrett that I'm using in spec. Same fuel system, same injector setup, intercooler's roughly the same. Running 12 psi boost (which is what my wastegate spring is set to)
  11. that formula spit out something like 150 front and 310 rear, lol. So can one mix front hypercoils and rear eibachs?
  12. Yeah but it's not t-shirt of pure pwnage!
  13. I have the oddball setup... light wankel, shoved way back in the engine bay. I'm going to probably hav 45/55 setup (guesstimating, could be wrong, but at least 48/52). It's a midengine setup since motor sits behind the strut towers/ crossmember. So you guys have an idea how far back the motor is. Bare rotary motor without turbo and manifolds is about 200lbs. With transmission a little under 300. I'd estimate turbo, radiator, IC, oil cooler, piping, alternator, and misc stuff will add on another 150 lbs. My old setup with the L24 was: -GC coilovers, Eibach 10" springs, 200lb/in all around. -Tokico Illuminas -msa 1" front sway bar -autopower rollbar bolted (not welded) in with 2 extra bars (jmortensen's old unit) -unsprung weight consists of toyota vented 4x4 setup. -car was lowered about 1.5-2", strut housings are NOT sectioned. My new setup is going to also incorporate a ST 3/4" sway in rear with 1/2" offset spacer (already installed). Now, I did some research and found out (courtesy of johnc) that my mistake was having the same spring rates all around, and this created more or less an odd rebound effect that I experienced on some bumpier turns A while back I picked up a pair of hypercoil (i think? they're blue) 10" springs in 175lb/in. Can I run hypercoils in front, and 200lb Eibachs in rear? Is there a reason I should not mix them? I think the Z will weigh about 2200-2300lbs when it's back on the road. I tried to leave as much weight on the crossmember as possible by mounting the motor in the front to the crossmember directly. What should my spring rates be? The car's a weekend driver/road course/autox in that order, weekend driver being used the most.
  14. lol, good commercial, too bad borla sucks when it comes to products
  15. that is one of the shittiest motors ford produced. They're notorious for blowing head gaskets. I'd also pay you not to put it in your Z (not really, just a figure of speech)

  17. concept. the images are user chop, not authentic DETROIT — Chevrolet plans to take the wraps off a concept Camaro at the 2006 Detroit auto show in January. Also, Inside Line has learned the automaker is evaluating proposals to revive the classic performance-car nameplate in 2009-2010 on a new low-cost rear-wheel-drive platform. Among the scenarios under discussion inside General Motors is the development of a lower-cost version of the Sigma rear-drive platform that underpins the Cadillac CTS and STS sedans. Another proposal would take the new rear-drive platform that's being developed in Australia for the next-generation Holden Commodore sedan and spin off a low-cost variant for North America. GM planners are said to have targeted several body styles for the Chevy and Pontiac brands on a new rear-drive platform, including a sport sedan, a sporty coupe and a convertible. The Camaro and GTO badges could be used on those vehicles, according to company sources. Across town, Chrysler is said to be preparing a concept Dodge Challenger for the '06 Detroit show, to test the market for a proposed two-door performance car it wants to introduce around 2008-2009 as a potential competitor to the Ford Mustang. What this means to you: Guess it was just a matter of time and environmental awareness — the original definition of muscle cars doesn't fit well with new perceptions of what's best for the world...could there be a "green" muscle car in our future?
  18. I love family guy, and this is by far the funniest skit from the show I've ever seen... well, almost as funny as a discovery special on firetrucks... http://www.milkandcookies.com/links/33634/ and the fact that it looks just like the a-ha video...
