  3. Got tired of the honda scene and started looking for another project. Something more "mature". (I'm over 50) Always wanted a Z, so......... I built hybrid hondas so why should the Z be stock? A google search and here I am! Looked at other Z sites but have only posted here, feels like home. chris
  4. No, this was not advertised ready to run. In the seller's defense, he only represented this as a used P90 head in good condition, no warranty implied. I did not ask about any specific problems, just general condition. My bad. If it weren't for this and two broken studs, this head would be pristine. chris
  5. Thanks for your speedy comments. I thought it could be salvaged, but wanted to ask the experts. All the other coolant passages are not eroded at all! Speaking of engine building do's and don'ts. The bolts holding the cam towers were nearly bottomed out and weren't even close to being down. Upon removal, I found the holes full of glass bead media! I'm building a turbomotor for my 260 with a turbo short block and flattop pistons so didn't want to surface it much. Thanks chris
  6. Anybody have a clue what could have caused this? Can it be fixed? Just bought this head over the internet. Am I sol? Thanks for any help. chris
  7. Very nice car! Forgive me for saying, but, looks like the competition was a little weak. chris
  8. http://www.holset.co.uk/files/4_4_1-service%20repair%20manuals.php Go here and download the .pdf Service Manual and the Service Data Sheet for your turbocharger. It says .001-.005 end (axial) play and .013-.020 radial. chris
  9. Times two! I have the 26 gallon 5 or so HP. It will only run my die gringer for a few sec before the compressor cuts on and then I need to wait on it to get back to full charge. Go bigger if you possibly can! Air tools use lots of air. Bigger is better! chris
  10. Got my new (to me) L28 turbo short block fully dissassembled and discovered that there is flashing all inside the block. I know this is a by product of casting and wondered if it warrants removal? Some of it will fleck off with a screwdriver. I know the chances are remoth that a piece could break off and find it's way on top of the piston, instead, it would probably just fall into the pan and stay there. Is removal worth doing or am I just being anal? TIA chris
  11. You might wanna check out how you gonna bolt the FI manifold to the carbed head. Studs/bolts in different locations. HTH chris
  12. Looks good! Price? Welded or not is ok with me. chris

It is located on the compressor housing and the wastegate can gets its signal from this valve. I have been researching quite a lot on the Holset site and various Cummins sites. The Holset site expounds on it's superior technology without telling exactly how it works. I will post my findings. chris

  17. Yeah, guess it's a little short for a RB. I'll be quiet now........ chris

  19. Very nice!!! Did it come with the RB swap? chris
  20. Mine has never run since I've had it! Guy I bought it from said it did run when he parked it for restoration approx 10 years before I got it. I've had it almost a year. It is almost totally disassembled now in contrast to partial when I got it. chris
  21. Gunfighting rule numba one: Have a gun!!!
  22. I have a N42 intake and want to "clean" it up. On another thread, it was suggested to plug the holes with a tapered threaded plug. Some of those holes could be easily tig welded shut then ground flush on both sides. Anyone have any experience welding this casting? TIA chris
  23. Not intending to hijack a thread but, anyone know if these coils would be compatable with an edis setup? TIA chris
  24. They get a pretty regular bashing on the honda sites. Go to honda tech and search for ss autochrome. Biggest complaint is from their "disposable" turbo's and cracked tubular manifolds. Some of their stuff seems a very good bang for the buck and lots of peeps use it. HTH chris
