  1. I'm having trouble figuring this out. I read a couple article's and searched how to adjust a tv cable on a chevy truck tbi unit setup with the 700r4, and it said to push the D shaped button in and slide the adjuster all the way in until it bottoms out. Than it said to step on the gas pedal to WOT and the cable should self adjust itself and click out to the position it should be at. Well i pushed the button in and slid the adjuster all the way in, then i stepped on the pedal and it didn't go back out at all. I also used the throttle linkage by handd to try to go past WOT to see if it would click out any, but it didn't it just stayed all the way in. So does that mean i have to just drive around and slide that adjuster out and keep testing all kinds of positions until the shifts are what i want? the last thing i want is to adjust it wrong and do any damage. Help would be appreciated, here's some pic's of the adjuster in the bottomed out position. Before i touched it, the adjuster was about an inch out and it was shifting OK, but it hung 1st and 2nd sometimes on medium accell....

  5. i can't get it on my trailer though.... the back end is so torn up it's sitting on the ground and my ramps aren't long enough...were trying to figure out a way to get it on right now, he's building some ramps for his corvette that might do the trick....
  6. is this all it takes to replace the seal at the crank pulley on a lt1? all you have to do is remove one of the fan shrouds, serpentine belt, crank pulley and then the harmonic balancer hub and the seal pops out and back in.

  8. lol, i know! i mean i was about to drive off, and i get my emotions dropped like that..lol... I should know by now to never believe a ad, but i mean i thought this was ok because the ad says it's his baby and anyone can get in a accident... but it's a autox with a blown clutch and leaky seals...lol...
  9. so with that said ^...So if anyone near seattle wants to put the extra money into the clutch, and seals maybe more?....here's the ad, i got him down to $1500, so offer that.   10. lol... well i took it down because i just got my trailer hitched up and was about to leave to go pick it up so it wasn't on the market anymore, but i got a email from the guy just now, after i asked if there were any issues with the engine or tranny, and he says "the clutch is smoked from getting it off the flatbed cause the r/r fender is pushing into the tire. I was still autocrossing this car up till the weekend before the wreck and kickin WRX and RX7 ass all over the track. I just had the front crank seal replaced with a new harmonic balancer hub, but the seal is bunk and still leaks" so my whole mindframe changed, i mean i was gonna spend a good chunk of money and thought the engine and tranny were perfect like the ad portrays....i don't want to spend the money on a autocrossed car with a blown clutch and leaks all over....that just kinda pissed me off i wish they would put all that info in the ad or upfront.....

  12. well, this is a big decision because i was planning on using a 350 out of a old gmc truck that i picked up, and this will mean spending my swap budget upfront, but in the long run a 97 lt1-t56 combo compared to a 77 carbed 350-Th350 isn't even funny. So i can always buy it, set it aside and save up for a couple months and move on.

I found a 97 firebird with rear end damage, it still drive's if u take off the rr fender. But it runs good and has the lt1 with a 6 speed manual... does $1500 sound like a good deal for the whole car?

  16. i just got a 77' gmc truck with a good running 350 and auto trans with 70k miles for $300. I'm gonna pull the engine and sell the truck and get the engine trans and driveshaft free. that way i can either get it rebuilt to be pretty fast, or sell it just to make some money. just be creative, u can usually end up with a free engine and tranny if u buy a car/truck and then sell the body. a good running 350 will be fast in a Z, and if u end up with a free engine from buying and selling, just have it rebuilt to be really fast, and not be out much money.

  20. Does anyone have any clips or vids of s30's with mild 350's in them? Only video's i've seen are L28's, lsx engines, but i wanna see/hear some older 350's in Z's tearing around, or just cruising, or first hand in the car view? it's appreciated..
  21. aside from the car, the engine and tranny combo u get, ur still looking at: Hei dist Fuel pump JTR kit Radiator/+-fan sending units Driveshaft mod(driveshaft, flange, u-joint) hose's/clamps hood latch mod/safety latch lots of little things i thought it would be really simple at first, but after reading the book u get to understand the little things u want on hand BEFORE you begin, or else ur gonna be sitting around waiting on little parts that keep you from moving on. So i'd get the book, make a list on every part you need for your engine/tranny combo, and if your ready, get everything at once if you want to move smoothly..
  22. Do i need to replace the gasket on the trans oil pan if i just leak some oil out? A drain plug on these would have been a good idea, because i always seem to overfill

  24. i checked just now and the tv cable has about 1/4" of freeplay at the throttle linkage. With the symptoms of over revving in 1st gear before it shifts to 2nd with moderate (about 1/2 throttle) accelleration, would i adjust(tighten) the cable more towards 1/8"? Or loosen it to ad more freeplay? any help is appreciated...
