  1. Whats your suspension setup and what kind of 60 ft times were you able to get? Justin
  2. I was considering doing the front fenders off of this car: http://web.mac.com/markrolston/iWeb/Site/Z-Blog/80E6D86A-FC1B-4DD0-95E3-28017E424DA6.html I called Al’s Bodyworks at 512-836-1851 about doing a similar set of front flares for my car. The cost was $5000 for the front set plus the car needs to be at his shop to get them fitted!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not that wealthy. Anyway, I'm thinking I will go with the Subtle Z front kit and the YZ rear quater panels. I think this will look very nice I'm waiting to hear back from John Washington on the cost of this setup shipped to me up in oregon. Justin
  3. I've used these guys often. A very good shop: Baha Autobody and Paint 4525 SE 17th Ave Portland, OR 97202 (503) 234-6832
  4. For the price, I'm considering making this aluminum dash from jegs work: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_12942_-1
  5. 2 prototypes are on order. Once I have test fit these and they look good I will post pricing and let people know lead times on these parts. Shouldn't be long for those that have been waiting. Regards, Justin
  6. I pulled the dash today to get started on rewiring the car and change the heater core at the same time. The dash came out surprisingly easy once I found all of the bolts. It is freakin heavy!!! I'm going to draw up a sheet metal dash and have a local shop bend one up on there press brake. Justin
  7. Heres how the car looks with the S2000 seats sitting in it. I'm trying to get them bolted down, but the sheetmetal is very thin, 20 Gauge? I just sourced some metal to repair the holes in the floor. I will likely weld in some angle iron and bolt the seats to that. I'd feel more comfortable having the seats bolted to some thicker metal.
  8. Happy Birthday Darius. What a great present you have for yourself there!!!
  9. Ron, Mine is indeed not the best for under 5K. Mainly I wanted to see others "budget" projects. Your V8 swap is very impressive for how much you could get while still doing it on the cheap. Do you still have the budget V8 240z? Theres got to be more people out there. Look at all the grass root motorsport challenge cars each year!! Regards, Justin
  10. Looks good! What is "#248" about? Justin
  11. I want to see what people have built for under $5000 including the purchase price of the car. I'm doing pretty good at this point at $1500 into my own project. Show your pictures and description of your project please. Heres mine: $700 Purchase Price (With 10k mile rebuilt motor) $550 S2000 Seats $ 0 Free Urethane Airdam $0 Headlight covers from GF for christmas $100 Toyota S12+8 Front Calipers $ 50 Recarpet $140 EZ Wiring Harness $450 OBX Torsen Differential with bearings to install $25 Replacement hood from Ron T after accident $ 50 misc $2065 Total Next up for me is finish fixing slight rust, MegaSquirt, Coilovers, 240z bumpers and paint. Hopefully I can keep it under $5000 by that point. As purchased: Today: Justin
  12. The problem with the new LSX block is it weighs 225lbs. A solid 125lbs more weight then the aluminum ls2 block. Being completely real, who needs more then 1000hp in one of these cars?
  13. Here's a great place to get all of the new components if you just want to piece something together instead of buying some unknown unit off of ebay. http://www.sdparts.com/ You can get an LS2 block for $999: http://www.sdparts.com/product/12568950/LS2400quotBoreAluminumCorvette60LBareBlockGenIV.aspx You can easily build a 402 CI unit from this, or buy a complete ls2 shortblock setup for low compression. http://www.sdparts.com/product/SDLS2402D/402LS2ShortBlockAssemblywDishPistons14cc.aspx Regards, Justin
  14. LS2 aluminum blocks with stock sleeves are good for around 1000whp. They are much stronger then the ls1 blocks with stock sleeves. Beyond that you need to sleeve them, or go with a cast iron truck block which would be good to around 1400-1500whp. Beyond that there is the new LSX block which is reportedly good for 2000hp. LS1tech.com is a great forum if you didn't already start reading over there
  15. Found another mistake I think. The number 3 and 4 injector ports are offset the wrong direction. I'll have to correct that when I get home tonight. What are your guys thoughts on using the carb bolt holes along with the efi bolt holes so that the manifold is setup for both bolt patterns? On the heads drilled for both you would have extra clamping force. Just an idea I've been kicking around. Justin
  16. I was a bit concerned about the clearance between the injector ports and the slip fits for the runners. I made the slip fits slightly less deep to add some material there. It wont be an issue when the manifold is all welded up, but I just feel better having more material there. Justin
  17. I was working on making some rough drawings to double check everything before my prototypes are made. Anyone that is interested please check them out. Regards, Justin
  18. Well I didn't make the drive out today. I'm thinking I'll come out tomorrow if the weather is any better then today. Justin
  19. What are you thoughts on the before and after performance differences between the vertical flow vs the horizontal flow? Regards, Justin
  20. Its a relay issue with the blinkers. I'll work on it tonight and see if I can figure it out. I may drive out without the seats bolted down. I'm adventurous though. Justin
  21. I will be at the show on saturday around noon. I dont think I can make the trek both days. I will be Z less for this show as I dont have my seats mounted well enough and my blinkers aren't working. Justin
  22. I have roughed in my S2000 seats into my 280z. I had to bang on the transmission tunnel on the drivers side to get them to fit. Besides that, just some modifications to the seat rails and they are looking pretty good to fit nice and snug. I doubt there would be the clearance issue in the 240z with the transmission tunnel. In the early cars, they didn't have a big bulge where the cat goes. Justin
